Despite fierce national loyalty, everyone had their own responsibility to the church.

They also ate fruit and vegetables which they would grow.

Friars are different from monks in that they are called to live the evangelical counsels (vows of poverty, chastity and obedience)

Every one went to church every day and prayed at least five times a day.
