Alcon is undertaking a €15.6 million expansion of its Irish operations

Cook Ireland sole global manufacturing site for Cooks new drug eluting stent, ZILVER PTX. €25 million

Boston Scientific is to invest €50 million, in strategic Research and Development at its Galway facility.

Forfás report; “Comparative Starting Salaries and Career Progression of Graduates in Science, Engineering and Technology (SET)” June 2006 reported that: graduates in disciplines with a strong science and technology content

tend to be paid better after graduation than graduates in other disciplines graduates PhDs, tend to be paid significantly more than those with just

primary degrees, with over 80% of PhD (Engineering and Biosciences) earning starting salaries in excess of €33,000.
