ANNUAL REPORT January 15, 2014
Thank you, Friends of Meals on Wheels!
Each of you have made a difference in our agency in numerous ways during 2013.
The work in carrying out the mission of Meals on Wheels is unwavering and so is
the commitment you’ve made. For that, we are grateful.
The annual report creates a perfect opportunity to thank all of the Meals on Wheels
volunteers, donors, Board of Directors and staff that have made it possible for the
agency to nourish the elderly and/or homebound people in our communities.
Without hands-on volunteering, monetary contributions, governance and
direction, as well as the “behind the scenes” work, the seniors and homebound
individuals of Shawnee and Jefferson County would not have this much needed
service.
With your help during 2013, MOW was able to:
Begin weekend and holiday meal service in Topeka
Carryout a successful March for Meals campaign
Participate in the first annual Topeka Gives event
Host a very successful Sumptuous Evening Gala
Provide 232,454 meals throughout Shawnee and Jefferson Counties.
MOW’s 2014 strategic approach includes:
Delivering 155,101 in-home meals and providing 93,254 meals at the
dining centers
Enhancing MOW visibility throughout the community.
Carrying out successful fundraising efforts
Strengthening ties with current and potential volunteers
Our services and expertise are in high demand, and thanks to strong supporters, we
have the capacity to respond. I invite you to read our annual report for additional
accomplishments and a snapshot of the health of our organization.
With all Sincerity,
A Message from the President & CEO
