The Philippine Rice Self-Sufficiency Project now known as the Philippine Food Staples Self-Sufficienc

Project (PFSSSP) was launched in 2009 to accelerate the dissemination of rice technologies to help

farmers increase rice productivity and attain rice self-sufficiency. PFSSSP is a collaborative initiative

of IRRI and PhilRice and is funded by the Department of Agriculture. IRRIs Social Sciences Divisionleads the monitoring and evaluation (M&E) and partnership components of the Unified Capability

    Building Support.

MSP among key players in the provincial rice sector serves as a platform for effective information and

technology dissemination to actors in the rice value chain. It provides synergy among stakeholders in

disseminating rice technologies and addressing the constraints to low rice production and rice sufficiency.

Lessons learned from the ongoing MSP in Agusan del Norte have been documented and will be used in

    forming MSPs in other provinces.
