RECOGNITION AND APPROVAL Ministry of Human Resource development, Govt of India, New Delhi had conferred the status of Deemed university to our Indira Gandhi Institute of Dental Sciences, Puducherry with notification No. F-9-53/2005-4.3 dated 20th July 2009 in the name and style of “SRI BALAJI VIDYAPEETH”. The institution is recognized by Dental Council of India and Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, New Delhi and 8 specialty courses at PG level have been approved.

RESEARCH All students are exposed to research work and publication. They are encouraged to participate and present papers, at seminars, workshops and conference. Also conducting CDE workshops, seminars and conference at Regional, National and International levels has been a regular event Eminent and renowned Dental specialist and Scientists belonging to various scientific field of study are called upon for guest lectures to gear up the scientific temper in the minds of the student society. Dental education unit and scientific and academic forum conducts regular meetings to provide the post graduates/ interns a platform to present their rare case reports to the elite members of dental fraternity.

MEDICAL HOSPTIAL The dental college is attached to Mahatma Gandhi Medical College & Research Institute with a state of the art 840 bedded free teaching hospital with an average clinical materials a day. This medical institute will training to the BDS and MDS students and 70 exclusively allotted for dental college of PG progr the oral maxillofacial surgery

The library has seminar room seating capacity of 100 in no, internet facilities, digital library and e-learning covering total are of 14,000 sq.ft

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA Applicants should have passed their BDS from an institution recognized by DCI and must have obtained permanent registration. They should have completed/ completing their internship by 30th April 2012

FACILITIES AND AMENITIES library The library has 2200 books, Indian and international journals with books, CD's, journal and education CD roms. In addition the students have unrestricted access to the central library of Mahatma Gandhi Medical College and Research institute.

STUDENT CARE SERVICES IGIDS is a home away from home for the students.

Students Need Stores, PCO, STD, lSD, Fax, Internet, Xerox facilities etc., are provided inside the campus itself.

24Hrs. ATM of Indian Bank is available in the College Campus.

An electronic debit system is being introduced inside the campus to facilitate the students to handle cash etc safely and effectively.

Our institute has its own fleet of buses for safe and fast transport of students and staff as well.

Indoor and Outdoor games and other recreational facilities are provided inside the campus itself.

Apart from this, Pondicherry is famous for its beach promenade, backwater rivers, historical temples, cathedrals, French architecture, boating, rowing, water skiing, dolphin watching etc.

The College has excellent Wi-Fi facilities.

HOSTEL - with Gym Beautifully structured separate Hostels for Boys and Girls in serene atmosphere are provided within the campus. The rooms are Air- conditioned, Neat, Clean, Spacious, Well Illuminated and Ventilated. Ozone purified water is provided to students for drinking purposes. Hygienically prepared high quality food is provided to the students at nominal price. A full-fledged and airy gymnasium cum physical fitness center is available for all the students. A Spa for both boys and girls is available

ADMISSION PROCEDURE

4The completed application form with enclosures should be submitted to the college office

4Students will be admitted to the first PG degrees course of any specialty based on their performance in the written entrance examination to be conducted by the university. The examination will consist of multiple

choice questions covering the subjects of basic sciences including general anatomy, physiology,

biochemistry, pathology, pharmacology, microbiology and all a clinical and non clinical departments

4Eligibility for selection of students belonging to general category should secure a minimum of 50% marks

and other category students should secure a minimum of 40% marks.

4Selected candidates must pay fees by demand draft drawn in favour of the SBV university payable at

Puducherry as detailed in the admission letter on or before the date mentioned therein, failing which the

selection will automatically stand cancelled.

4Students selected for PG courses shall execute a bond for agreeing to work in the university for minimum

period of one year after passing the examination.

4Date and time of entrance exams: 12-05-2012, 10.30 a.m. to 1.30 p.m.
