Dear Praying Friends,

Greetings from Lima! Andrea and I arrived here in the early morning hours of August 5, to the familiarchill and drizzle of Lima’s winter. Although we had been hearing of record-breaking low temperaturesand were anticipating that with some amount of dread, the weather has been surprisingly pleasant sincewe arrived, with at least some sun every day! Andrea was a real encouragement as a travel companion, asis her nature, and showed what a trooper she is by making a one hour turnaround from our arrival to herleaving for the first day of school! She has made a great adjustment back into school and has enjoyedreconnecting with old friends.

For the time being, we are residing in a missionary guest house until Tim is able to join us, hopefully in afew months. He will remain in the States, visiting churches as well as teaching and preparing ProMETA classes, until the remainder of our support is raised. We have had a few new commitments, but we stillneed to raise over $1000 a month more. We ask that you pray with us that God would supply our neededsupport very soon.

I have begun to meet with colleagues, friends, and acquaintances to try to discern the best way to beginthe counseling ministry I aspire to here in Lima. There is certainly no lack of need; I just needdiscernment to be able to see what are the best venues for beginning to work out the goals and dreamsGod has been putting on my heart. I spoke this morning with a friend who works in a poor area of Limawhere there are many issues of abandonment and various types of abuse. This would be one possibility fora part-time involvement. Pray that God would direct my paths as I seek to follow His leading.

We are grateful for your prayers for us in these months of transition. We have had a number of setbacks, such as various car breakdowns, misplaced documents, and, last but not least, an accident on a jet skiwhich left Tim with a badly broken ankle. All these things have shown us how easy it is to take certainthings for granted and how thankful we need to be when things are running “as they should.” Despite thestress of these events, we have held together very well as a family. We are especially thankful that Tim’saccident was not worse and that he is getting around fairly well on his crutches.

Thanks again for standing with us in friendship, interest, and prayer.

Sincerely,

Debbie for the McIntosh Family

Tim & Debbie, Joel, Elizabeth & Andrea
