DCC has Real Time data on Dublin Bus FleetAllow IBM access to data and provide server space.1000 vehicles provide location information every 20 – 30 Seconds

Provide Visualisation of dataAllow a city wide view but also provide the means of seeing where problems are.Handle verbose XML SIRI standard records.

Real Time data Issues

• What is real Time data :- • Depends on what the final use of it is.

• Real Time data to DCC is data which we collect in real time, analyse and use it to adjust alert or inform in as close to real time as possible.

• Real Time data goes “stale “ very quickly and becomes historic data`.

Real Time Issues • Take two systems as an example

• SCATS Traffic Control System • Real Time Passenger Information

• SCATS has an “ITS “ port which provides a means of retrieving data from SCATS in Real Time. This is a licenced product and around €20,000 per connection, also multiple connections will have implications for server processing and architecture.

• THE RTPI system also has a SIRI interface which is a licenced product and costs €25,000 per connection. Again multiple connections has severe implications for server processing etc.
