Maya Gallery
Maya Gallery is recognized for making a strong contribution to promote Singaporean and Singapore-‐based artists in the local and international art scenes. It has participated in international art fairs and festivals in Singapore, Indonesia, Hong Kong and Korea. It has also collaborated with galleries in Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia, Korea, Shanghai and Japan. With a focus on contemporary artworks of high quality by talented artists, and a growing base of art collectors and aficionados, Maya Gallery is at the forefront of home-‐grown local galleries with an international flavour. Founded by Mr. Jeffrey Wandly and his wife Ms. Masturah Shaari through a shared passion in the arts, Maya Gallery was officially opened by Ms. Janice Koh, former Nominated Member of Parliament (NMP) for the Arts in 2012. It was awarded the Recommended Favourite Art Gallery by the Expat Living Reader Awards 2015, and has been described as a gallery that "has won the hearts of art enthusiasts with its locally flavoured exhibitions (www.mydestination.com)”. With more than 30 exhibitions by close to 90 artists in its portfolio, the gallery has exhibited works by Iskandar Jalil (Singapore Cultural Medallion recipient, 1988), Chng Seok Tin (Singapore Cultural Medallion recipient, 2005), Idris Ali (Singapore, Pingat APAD, 1974) and Valerie Ng (Malaysia, UOB Painting of the Year 2004 -‐ Abstract). It also continues to support young, promising and emerging talents. Maya Gallery is a member of the Art Galleries Association Singapore (AGAS).

MASTURAH SHAARI Co-‐founder & Director, Maya Gallery
Masturah Shaari is a Designer, Illustrator, Artist and Gallerist. She graduated with a Bachelor of Arts, majoring in Economics, from the National University of Singapore (1992), and received a Diploma in Design Communication from LaSalle-‐SIA College of the Arts (2000). She was awarded a Certificate of Commendation at the Conqueror Horseman Design & Print Awards in 2000. Her 20 years of design experience spanned the whole spectrum of visual communications – corporate identity, publication design, marketing and event collateral, web design direction, advertisement design and illustration. She has served a wide range of international clients including Lucent, Bosch, Gulf Air, NatSteel Asia, Marshall Cavendish, StrategiCom and Archipelago Consultancy. She is currently Director and Founder of Maya & Associates. In 1997, she launched Sejati Cards, a line of Asian-‐inspired invitations and cards. In 2011, she co-‐founded Maya Gallery, together with her husband Jeffrey Wandly. Her accomplishments also include book designs and illustrations of close to 15 published books, and writing ad reviews for industry journals. Masturah recently contributed an essay in “We Also Served: Reflections of Singapore’s former PAP MPs”, published by Straits Times Press (2014). Her late father, Hj Sha’ari Tadin, was Senior Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister for Culture (1970s), and Member of Parliament (1968 till 1980). He was also the first Malay graduate MP, was instrumental in the formation of Majlis Pusat (Central Council of Malay Cultural Organisations) in 1969, and helped establish the National Dance Company (now Singapore Dance Theatre) in 1972.
JEFFREY WANDLY Co-‐founder, Maya Gallery
Jeffrey Wandly is an Architect, Project Management Professional, Artist and Gallerist. A graduate of the National University of Singapore with a Bachelor of Architecture (Honours), he is a recipient of the Architecture Angullia Scholarship, and the MENDAKI Excellence Award (Anugerah MENDAKI) for being the top Malay tertiary student in Singapore (1993). He holds a Masters in Project Management from Queensland University of Technology, with a distinction in his final thesis.
Jeffrey’s 20 years in the building and construction industry started when he worked as an architect in various reputable architecture firms. He then embarked as Project Manager and Team Leader at Far East Organisation, followed by Project Director at Napier Properties. He is currently Project Manager at Guthrie. His vast experience in residential, commercial and industrial property development covers master planning, architecture, interiors, design and project management. 8 Napier, a luxury residential property development which he had project directed, received a BCA Construction Excellence Award in 2012. Jeffrey’s passion for the arts was inspired by his late father Hj Wandly Yazid, a renowned music composer, arranger, musician and former Musical Director at Cathay-‐Keris (1960s). With the aim of nurturing an appreciation for Malay music classics, Jeffrey revived the Wandly Yazid Orkestra, once founded by his father in the 60s. Playing a mix of traditional, classical, jazz and keronchong music, the orchestra has performed during art openings, book launches and corporate events at the Shangri-‐La Hotel, National Library and Malay Heritage Centre.
