Renewed Visions Counseling... An Interactive Approach to Mental & Emotional Wellness

Greetings!My name is Sher Peck. I am a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) and Certied Reciprocal Alcohol Drug Counselor (CRADC) utilizing Innovative methods in the treatment of addictions and in restoring emotional and mental health through interactive approaches in therapy. My approach is action oriented and highly compassionate. A little dierent approach, and very eective in promoting change! If you think that you, a family member, or a friend may be suering from a mental health or emotional problem, don’t be afraid or embarrassed to call me at (417)860-2216. Your call will be condential and could help you or your loved ones to get back on track.Issues like anxiety, depression, panic attacks, stress, bipolar disorders, and emotional eating can rob you of energy and strip your life of joy. Don’t let it!

I often have women, and men, walk into my oce looking for ways to reduce toxic stress. They say, “I’m tired all of the time Sher, no matter how much sleep I get I can’t seem to feel good.”As you likely know, stress can cause many problems, the basic one being that of taking the fun out of life and leading to depression, to say nothing about the harmful medical conditions. As women, we have so many responsibilities that stress can creep in even when we otherwise take care of ourselves. Ready to make a change? The rst change I am going to ask you to make is… in your mind. “What? Sher, don’t tell me it’s all in my mind!” Of course not. Stress eects mind, body, and soul. Isn’t that a kick???For now we will start with the mind (later we can work with the body and soul).First I want you to change your mind about how you view stress. I want you to think of it from a dierent angle. Rather than viewing it as the theft of joy and threat of

illness, I want you to see it for what it really is. Like other harmful emotions, stress is simply there to put you on notice. It is letting you know that there is something going on and it is time to take action. You feel better already don’t you? What a relief! From killer to opportunity!!!Second, take a moment to jot down 2 of your most common beliefs about life and ask yourself, “How true are these beliefs?” Once you have the beliefs on paper, rate them as “H” for helpful or “N” for not helpful. With that awareness work done on your part , I can help you identify sources of stress hidden deep within your beliefs and assist you to feel good again, have energy to play with your kids, your grandchildren, friends and family. And… don’t forget to practice the more common stress reduction techniques you already know!Call me and get started on regaining your energy and experiencing the lust for life you deserve!

Tips & Tricks to Refresh Your Home

Lawn CareIn a hose end sprayer add one cup of each: Epsom salts, dish soap, anti-bacterial mouthwash, and baby shampoo. Spray lawn and owers to help remove bugs, fungus, and other pests as well as removing dust to help plants breathe. It also helps soil to accept feed easier. This is safe for kids and pets. Submitted by Judy Nelson-Colorado Springs, CO

Household Cleaning-Vacuum heavy trac areas 2–3 times a week, and the rest of your carpet once a week.-Use both indoor and outdoor mats at each entrance to reduce the amount of dirt tracked into your home.-In a pinch, make your own spot remover by mixing ¼ tsp. liquid detergent (without bleach) and a cup of cold water. -Over time, the protection on stain-resistant carpet wears down. For optimum performance, have a protector regularly applied after cleaning.-Stain-resistant does not mean stain-proof. Be sure to act immediately to prevent spots and spills from causing permanent damage.-Before using any spot removing product, test for colorfastness in an inconspicuous area. -Test area rugs for colorfastness before placing over carpet since some rugs may tend to bleed.Submitted by Stanley Steemer of the Ozarks

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Household Cleaning con’t.-Wipe mini blinds with damp fabric softener sheets to eliminate static that collects dust. The same trick works for your T.V. Screen.-For spotless glass and mirrors with no streaking, smearing, hazing or residue, try Cloud Free Glass & Mirror cleaner. The versatile, extra strength product is safe on most plastics and synthetics and is a great computer screen cleaner. It even removed paint overspray, nicotine and insects and since there is no ammonia it’s safe on window and windshield tinting. -Do not wash windows or glass when sun is directly on them if they are warm. This causes them to dry too quickly creating unwanted streaks.-Before you toss old newspapers into the recycling bin, use them to window cleaning instead of paper towels. -Baking soda or dry table salt are mild abrasives and can be used as an alternative to chlorine scouring powders. Simply put either baking soda or salt on a sponge or the surface, scour and rinse.-Non-Abrasive Soft Scrubber: ¼ cup borax, vegetable oil based liquid soap (like Murphy’s Oil Soap), ½ teaspoon lemon oil. In a bowl, mix the borax with enough soap to form a creamy paste. Add lemon oil and blend well. Scoop a small amount of the mixture onto a sponge, was the surface, and then rinse well.-Rust stain and hard water deposit remover-apply full strength vinegar or lemon juice and let stand until spot disappears, rinse. Repeat if necessary.-Mildew-industrial strength Oreck Two Tough prevents mold and mildew and disinfects hard surfaces.Submitted by Oreck Clean Home Center of Springeld
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~Decorating -Hang ‘found’ plates in a grouping as wall décor, bright colors will add a touch of Spring to your Home.-Flowers should be for every day, not just special occasions. A bouquet brings a burst of color and life into a space. -Hanging art is an art. Consider this…generally walls that are wider than they are tall call for horizontal groupings: narrow spaces welcome vertical arrangement.-You can shop your basement, closets and attic when redecorating for forgotten articles that can be brought back in for a fresh new look.-Can’t aord new furniture? Refresh your existing pieces with one-of-a-kind slipcovers, oering a custom look and less expensive than upholstery. -Re-use & Re-Purpose decorative boxes, baskets & crates to store school supplies and kid stu. Not only are these functional pieces, but decorative as well.

Staging to Sell -Ditch the faux owers. Add a vase or live owers or greenery to each space to bring the fresh outdoors in.-Have a purpose. Every room in your house should have a dened purpose so buyers understand the use of the space. -Add a punch of color. A neutral shell is good- walls, oors, etc... But, add a punch of color with accessories for inviting warmth.Decorating and Staging to Sell Tips submitted by Stacy Duncan, Springeld, Mo

Growing up in the Ozarks lends itself to the phrase “locally owned and operated,” but what does that really mean? For myself, Sarah, that means several things... lots of family time, dedication and hard work.

My parents Rick and Cindy Graver started Stanley Steemer of the Ozarks in 1983. They began with one truck and a two-man crew made up of my Father and Uncle Allen. I was not even a thought in their mind yet...

By 1990 I was beginning kindergarten, my mother was beginning her rock-star career in real estate and Stanley had 4 trucks with 12 employees. My folks were the two busiest people I knew!

When a family owns a business there is no such thing as leaving “work at work.” I watched my parent’s lives revolve around this business with routinely having

nightly discussions, vacations away but always “checking-in” and constantly worrying. The seasons have come and gone, as well as the ups and downs of a tired economy, but one thing remains... Our families’ dedication to this business.

I fought the idea of becoming incorporated in Stanley Steemer. I went to college with my own dreams, but slowly I was drawn into the family business. And now, 6 years later I have immersed myself completely in this place! Nightly discussions with my husband, whom lls in at Stanley from time to time, vacations away but never really away and a love that you can’t learn.. It’s either in you or it’s not.
