Over the past three years Peachtree has worked through the Tubepoka Development Initiative, a network of 362 local churches in the Chitipa district in rural Malawi.

Because of the investment Peachtree has made to this partnership, 350 HIV/AIDS orphans have been sponsored to go to school, 300 micro loans have been provided to entrepreneurs in the community, 30 shallow wells are providing clean water to hundreds of people in remote villages, and 12,000 children are now in Sunday school, hearing the good news of Jesus. We have a dream to transform the lives of children around the world and to see the seeds that have been planted sprout into lives as God designed.

COSTA RICA

When we invest in the lives of children, we plant new seeds of long term change.

Large scale life change occurs one individual, one family and one community at a time. Like the growing season, it requires sustained attention and care.

Tragedy struck the small town of Fraijanes in January 2009 when a massive earthquake hit nearby, destroying many homes, the local school, and demolishing all the area greenhouses which were the mainstay of the local economy. Thousands were left homeless and unemployed, including many members of the church. Shalom Community Church, a Peachtree partner and a vibrant community of 800 Christians, is helping to rebuild these greenhouses, bringing employment and restoration to the community. The income generated by these greenhouses will allow the church to open a learning center, providing spiritual guidance and education for 160 children. Investing in these children allow the church to foster future believers and develop future leaders for the Fraijanes community.

INDIAAs a source, destination and transit point for underage girls, Kolkata, India is a critical hub for human trafficking. This morning we welcome Blair Burns of International Justice Mission (IJM), a leading agent for transforming this dark spiri-tual environment.

Through our partnership with IJM, we’ve conducted trainings for the local police and served in aftercare homes such as the Mahima Home. Through Mahima, formerly trafficked girls are experiencing healing and restoration. Change is happening. But there are still many more young girls to be rescued and placed in a safe home.

Communities that experience the light and life of Jesus lead large scale cultural change.

What a Friend We Have in Jesus is very

popular among children in Kenya.

mark burrows developed a music academy there in

2009, and he wrote this song for those

students to sing, using a swahili translation

along with the english.

To God Be the Glory was written for

children in 1875 by Fanny crosby, one of the most prolific writers of gospel

music. blind from birth, Fanny wrote

over 8,000 hymns—three new hymns each week. this hymn was all but forgotten until it was introduced at the billy graham crusade in london in 1954.

Prayer of confession

Gracious and loving God, “you hear the desire of the afflicted. You encourage them and listen to their cry, defending the fatherless and the oppressed.” We confess that in the noise of our daily living we have not heard the cries that you would have us hear. While you “see trouble and grief,” we have worked hard to avoid both. Grant stillness to our distracted hearts and forgive our lack of attention to the broken places around us. Help us to hear your call and send us from this place to join you in the work of bringing hope and restoration to this world. Prepare us for that calling even now as we offer silent prayers of confession . . . — based on Psalm 10

*congregational response Take My Life and Let it Be........................................................................................hendon Take my life and let it be consecrated, Lord, to Thee.

Take my hands and let them move at the impulse of Thy love. At the impulse of Thy love.

Take my love, my Lord, I pour at Thy feet its treasure store. Take myself and I will be ever, only all for Thee, Ever, only all for Thee.

** life of the congregation scripture reading: Pastoral Prayer and the lord’s Prayer Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be Thy name. Thy Kingdom come, Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, And forgive us our debts as we forgive our debtors, And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil For Thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever. Amen.

henry mollicone, a california composer, wrote his misa de los inmigrantes in 2009. the sanctus is from isaiah 6:3, in which

the prophet witnesses the angels proclaiming god’s glory, singing to

the beautiful flowers in the sanctuary this morning are given to the glory of god and in loving memory of

Mrs. Malcolm (Ida Mae) Gailey and her sister, L. Grace Criswell.

they are the gift of c. malcolm gailey.

this hymn, composed by charles Wesley and published in 1740, is reported to have its

genesis in a comment made by the moravian Peter bohler: “if i had a thousand tongues, i would praise christ

with the all.” the hymn reflects god’s heart for the world as we express a desire to spread that praise throughout the earth.

the Benedictus of mollicone’s Misa de los Inmigrantes is from Psalm 118:26 and was the cry of the people on Palm

sunday as Jesus entered Jerusalem,

matthew 21:9.

WeeKly recommended resource

the dangerous act oF loving your neighbor by mark labberton “mark labberton draws us to understand the reality of injustice in our world--a reality that we can all too easily turn into vague abstractions--by beginning first with a raw, honest examination of our own hearts. mark’s manner with his reader is at the same time gracious and incisive, invoking careful consideration of the assumptions and broken perceptions that lead us away from the heart of god--and above all, compelling us to a restored perception of the image of god in every human being. let this book lead you to encounter the gospel from a renewed perspective, bringing you into a transformed relationship with the broken world that god has called his people to love with justice.” (gary a. haugen, president and ceo, international Justice mission and author of The Good News About Injustice )
