The Max Planck Society …• runs 78 research institutes and units, which are headed
by 260 scientific directors,- about 27 % of them being foreign citizens –
• has 12,400 staff members on its pay roll- among them 4,300 scientists -- about 26 % of them being foreigners- about 66 % of them holding time limited contracts,
• in addition hosts 10,900 junior and guest scientists,- about 50 % of them being foreigners –
• manages an annual budget of more than € 1.3 billion.
