Since 2012 no WPV type3 is isolated in West Africa. Fifty three (53) type 1 wild poliovirus cases reported in 2013 in West Africa, all from Nigeria. The WPV type 3, isolated in Niger in 2011 was the last case in the West Africa, outside Nigeria. Six(6) type 1 wild poliovirus are reported in 2014 in West Africa, all from Nigeria. Latest date of WPV onset on 24/07/2014. Wild Polio Weekly update in West Africa

Total number of Wild poliovirus cases with onset in 2012 = 123; Nigeria 122 cases (103 WPV type1 and 19 WPV type3) and Niger 1 case type1. Since 2012 no WPV type3 is isolated in West Africa.
