Mastery Connect Directions

What is Mastery Connect?

It’s a mastery tracker that helps assess core standards, monitor student performance and report mastery to

parents and administration. This is not a grading system.

Why use Mastery Connect?

Identify the level of student comprehension and understanding

Target specific students who may need intervention

Evaluate the alignment between lesson plans, student learning and assessments

Getting Started:

Refer to your email to get into mastery connect

Visit and edit your profile page

*Whenever you need help: click on the Rubik’s cube in the right hand corner, click on Mindful

Now you’re in!

Creating a Tracker:

Click on the 1st tab TRACKERS (top left): We are going to create an example Tracker to get you familiar with the

system:

On the right hand side, click the orange button Add Tracker (Orange is where you create or add)

Subject: Language Arts

Core: Common: CCSS, Language Arts

Class: 9th grade

Description: (type in) Delete Me

Folder: pick a color

Add students: add 5 students individually

Click Create Tracker (orange button)

Click: Type in (green button)

Create student name and id, then press Add and Save

Find Assessments:

Click on green Assessments button

Open up more options by pressing the green plus button (+) on the right hand side (check out all the ways you

can narrow your search)

If you like the assignment, click the assignment:

o You can add the assignment to your tracker right away

o Use gray icons to download, print, clone or bookmark

Create Assessments:

Go to the green Assessment tab or the orange Add Assessment tab

Go through the Create Assessment details

Items to consider:

*What standard is it aligned to?

*What type of question is it?

*What is the answer?

*How many points is it worth?

Locating Assessments and Test ID #: (Purpose: to take test on-line or input student scores manually)

Click the Tracker tab and select the tracker you want

Click on the assessment or the standard

Click the orange assess button to get the id# (now copy that id#)

STOP! Open a new browser . . . .

Go to the teacher website: Masteryconnect.com/masteryteacher

Log in and put in your password

Copy and paste the number your received in the test id #

Now let’s put in some scores

NOW . . . .

Go back Tracker

Click on Assessment

Click on Reports (take some time to see the different reports you can look at)

2 ways student answers can be taken:

1. Students can manually take the test on www.masteryconnect/bubblesheet

2. Use the bubble sheet that can be scanned in

Where is that bubblesheet? Click any gray standards tab (with the attached test) and click bubblesheet

Looking at assessments and reports: use this data to identify levels of understanding and opportunities to

interventions

From the appropriate tracker, click on the gray assessment button

Click on Reports to see mastery information

View detailed item analysis:

o Tracker Comparison

o Teacher Comparison

o Individual Student Report
