The Gardens at Elm BankWe welcome you to our 36 acres of gardens and our horticultural center. The gardens grow amid the 182-acre Elm Bank Reservation, which features trails, waterways, and historic landscapes.

The Welcome Garden

Designed and donated by Paul Miskovsky Landscaping, this four-season garden combines unusual and striking trees and shrubs in a rolling terrain.

New England Trial Garden

This garden tests ALL AMERICAN SELECTIONS new and unreleased varieties of annuals. The gardens are easily accessible to view the newest introductions, note favorites, and admire the color combinations.

Weezie’s Garden for Children

This whimsical children’s garden, designed by Julie Moir Messervy, was created to engage the senses. It has recently been renovated to update and enlarge this magical space.

Bressingham Garden

The Bressingham Garden features island beds of perennials, trees, and shrubs to inspire functional and beautiful residential landscapes. This magnificent four-season garden was designed by world-renowned nurseryman and designer, Adrian Bloom.

The Seed to Table Vegetable Garden

This unique design of vegetable beds features unusual, historical, and international varieties. Find inspiration for your home garden and see how to use organic best practices. This garden provides more than two tons of fresh produce to local food pantries and educational programs each growing season.

The Italianate Garden

The Italianate Garden, designed by the Olmsted Brothers Firm, is part of Elm Bank’s historic designation. This formal garden was restored by Marion Pressley Associates in 2001. The Italianate Garden is a beautiful setting for weddings and other events.

The Goddess Garden

Formerly atop Horticultural Hall in downtown Boston, the goddesses of horticulture: Flora, Ceres, and Pomona now overlook the Maple Grove at the Gardens at Elm Bank.

The Mass Hort Plantmobile Program

The Massachusetts Horticultural Society’s Plantmobile is a traveling plant science workshop that provides hands-on experiential, educational programs for students in grades K-8. Plantmobile programs are designed to provide students with a rewarding hands-on horticultural experience. Programs on a variety of topics and activities coincide with elementary school plant science curriculum and with Massachusetts Science and Technology/Engineering standards.

Field Trips to The Gardens at Elm Bank

Bring your students, scouts, and other youth groups to our gardens. Our site is a backdrop for woodland walks, garden explorations, and scientific observations. Your group can learn about plant life and propagation, seed collection, wetlands, and food production. Groups are welcome to bring their own educators, and we also offer staff-led programs and badge workshops.

Garden Fun for the Family

Family programs run through Columbus Day weekend 2016! Educators lead programs for our youngest garden enthusiasts Tuesday through Sunday at 10:30 - 11 a.m. Drop in for songs, stories, hands-on activities, and explorations to discover and enjoy the garden. Meet in Weezie’s Garden for Children. Children must be accompanied by an adult. Programs are free with membership or price of admission.

Garden Tours – 2016Please join us for our daily garden tours at 11 a.m. Meet at the Visitor Center for a guided tour of the gardens to learn about their design, plants, and history. Tours run Tuesday through Sunday, May 1 through Columbus Day weekend.
