A message from the ESM - Annika Thomas.
Hello and welcome to the March edition of the IBIS Care Miranda Newsletter. What a wonderful year it has been al-ready, with many reasons to spring out of bed in the morn-ing. It won’t be long however until the cold nights and mornings find us dressed head to toe in our favourite Win-ter warmers. With that in mind, I would like to make March the time of year that we check our wardrobes for all the small things that make the cooler months that little bit warmer. This may be a job for a carer or family member on their next visit, or residents can ask a staff member to as-
sist them with this if they need it.
We have many wonderful celebrations happening over the next month to recognise a variety of events. I look forward to seeing you all joining in on the festivities. Please remember to always provide feedback and suggestions of any thing you feel we can add to our events calendar. There may be a special day you personally or traditionally celebrate. Speak with a Lifestyle Team member and we will work with you to bring that event into our com-munity where we can.
Until next time, please enjoy everything our community has on offer and re-member my door is always open.
Warm Regards, Annika Thomas [Executive Services Manager] IBIS Care Miranda

Meet Geoff… Geoff is a new resident here at
IBIS Care Miranda.
Geoff is a local man who has lived in the Suth-
erland Shire for many years. He is mad about
sport and motor racing, in particular.
Geoff served in the Army during the Vietnam-
ese war for 2 years. He told me of a terrifying
story about his encounter with a cobra snake
whilst on tour. He and his buddies inadvertently
were in the vicinity of a nest of baby cobras
which the mother snake did not take too kindly
to. Geoff said the mother snake reared up on
her tail and was taller than himself which
proved to be a pretty scary experience and one
he is not keen to repeat.
Welcome to IBIS Care Geoff – you’ll be pleased
to know we are a snake-free zone!
Its always nice to meet a new
guest to the IBIS Care Miran-
da community. Say hello to
our furry four legged friends
once in a while. They are be-
coming quite a regular visitor
and definitely know how to
make themselves at home.

Hello from the Lifestyle Team.
I am pleased to say the Corner Shop on Wheels has been
very successful. Thank you for supporting this new idea. If
you have any special requests or think of something you
would like to be included, please speak to one of the Life-
style staff and we will try to accommodate your request.
Honey and Sophie the dogs have become regular and wel-
come visitors to your community. Velette has been taking
some wonderful photos of the residents with the dogs and
these have been laminated and distributed to residents.
Easter is just around the corner and we’ll be celebrating by
doing some craft together and maybe munching on the odd
chocolate or two, as well. Come along to the craft sessions
on Monday mornings in the extension lounge from
10.30am -12.00pm and see what’s in store. All the activi-
ties are easy and those who attend have lots of fun. We
also put on some of our favourite music to encourage our
creativity!
Look out for the Easter-themed Bingo on your program. We’ll have special prizes to win that week!

Interesting Facts about …
EARTH!
Did you know, Earth is the third
planet from the Sun and is the larg-
est of the terrestrial planets. The
Earth is also the only planet in our
solar system not to be named after a
Greek or Roman deity. Experts place
Earth as being approximately 4.5 bil-
lion years old and as the only planet
known to support life.
Earth’s rotation is gradually slowing.
The deceleration is happening at a
rate of 17 milliseconds per hundred
years. As it happens so slowly, it
could take up to as much as 140 mil-
lion years before our 24 hour day be-
comes 25.

Please see your Lifestyle Team member re-
garding the Library Book service available

healthy past time. A great book is never too
far away.
Making GOSSIP headlines ...
Wills: “I’m not a regular dad, I’m a cool
dad!” - OK Magazine claims, the Duke
of Cambridge enjoyed testing motorcy-
cles on a recent visit to Triumph in
Hinckley, England. The royal has a keen
interest in motorbikes and has been
quoted as enjoying the security and
cover of a motorcycle helmet; allowing
him to travel around almost anony-
mously.
FACT
FICTION Fiction is a deliberately fabricated
account of something - Fact is a
thing that is known or proven to be
true. Sometimes it is hard to tell the
difference, as many believe their
imagination to be fact, while others
will swear facts are fiction.

MARCH Did you know?
The reason why we give eggs at
Easter is due to its association with
the ancient symbol of new life.
From a Christian perspective,
Easter Eggs are said to represent
