It is very glad to say that Anantapur Hon'ble Mayor M. Swaroopa Rani received award from

Hon'ble Chief Minister on the eve of Womens Day and she has been appointed as an State womens President.

As a part of City Initiatives Hon'ble Mayor and Municipal Commissioner inaugurated "Ananda

Lahari" and "Poster Free City" Programmes in Anantapur, As a part of preserving and promoting the glorious

history and culture of Telugu language and Telugu people, and also to provide aesthetic appearance to the

town by doing wall paintings which reflects our culture.

Health Camp had been conducted by Anantapur Municipal Corporation to provide free health

service to the public at different locations within the city. Commissioner, MHO and ULB officials participated in

the Health Camp and motivated the people in utilizing of this health camps. The first phase of intensive Pulse

Polio immunisation began in Anantapur Municipal Corporation on Sunday. The Department of Health and

Family Welfare Services, administered drops to children in the 0-5 age group.

As a part of Water Supply Water Testing and Pipeline shifting had been done from the

Drainages and placed on clean surface to provide Quality of water to the Households.

As part of Swacch Andhra Mission, the Municipal Corporation is carrying out joint sanitation

drives in various part of city on daily basis. Loaders had been placed for removal of silt in small areas and

awareness programmes also had been conducted to the workers in timely manner by the officials to improve

sanitation in Anantapur.

Hon'ble Chief Minister N.Chandra Babu Naidu

Garu has decided to institute awards for women

excelling in different walks of life. The awards would

be presented in nine fields on the International

Women’s Day on March 8. The awards would be given

to women excelling in sports, arts and other

professions including medicine, law, culture,

literature, journalism, agriculture, social service,

industries and self help groups.

City initiatives

‘Poster free city’ which is an initiative envisaged by the

Hon’ble Chief Minister as a step towards aesthetic cities was

commenced by the Anantapur Municipal Corporation.

Posters were removed along all the major stretches in the

city and paintings were done on the walls to maintain the

aesthitics of the place.

As a part of preserving and promoting the glorious

history and culture of Telugu language and Telugu people,

the AP Culture and Tourism department is conducting a

novel programme in the name of Ananda Lahari, in all the

13 district headquarters on Sunday. Hon'ble Mayor and

Municipal Commissioner inaugurated "Ananda Lahari"

Programme in Anantapur. Classical and folk dances,

karaoke, magic, mimicry and folk songs comprised the

inaugural ‘Ananda lahari’ programme organised by

Anantapur Municipal Corporation and the Culture Department of Andhra Pradesh in Arts College

on Sunday.

Notwithstanding the pressure tactics by a section of

traders, the Municipal administration is planning to go

ahead with a sustained drive against illegal

encroachments. As a part of this decision meeting was

convened by the Municipal Commissioner with Town

planning Officials to chart out strategies to reduce

congestion on roads and also to secure the

Governments sites by removing all unauthorised and

illegal Constructions.

Admitting as a fact of the situation, the AMC Commissioner said every platform/ pavement of

municipality is being encroached making it out of bounds for pedestrians. It is the duty of

municipality to remove encroachments on the platforms, he stated. The municipality has already

served notices to persons who had allegedly encroached the government poramboke lands, road

and streets and set a deadline for their removal. The official added, “We are not against anybody

and we are for public. The encroachers should realise their mistake.”

A senior medical officer in the Directorate of Health and Family

Services said polio vaccine was administered to all children, even if

they had already received oral polio vaccination or inactivated

polio vaccination. The health team will conduct house-to-house

visits and administer polio drops to children who were left out and

rally also had done regarding the Pulse Polio Programme.

Andhra Pradesh Municipal Development

Project (APMDP) is a 200 Crores project being

implemented by Government of Andhra Pradesh

(GoAP) in Anantapur with support from World Bank.

The Project is aimed at improving urban services in

ULB mainly in water supply sector.

Water Testing in the houses had been done by

placing instruments to provide good Quality of

water to the Households.

Pipeline shifting had been done from the Drainages

and placed on clean surface to provide Quality of

water to the Households.

As part of Swacch Andhra Mission, the Municipal Corporation

is carrying out joint sanitation drives in various part of city on

daily basis. During the drives, Sanitary activities were closely

monitored by the Mayor and Commissioner. Mayor has spread

the message that sanitation-related issues could not be

resolved without the cooperation of residents. She also urged

people not to through their household waste into surrounding

drains and has instructed them to make use of door to door

collection of waste. Garbage has been removed from different

areas and special emphasis was also given for silt removal and cleaning of nallahs. Fogging also

Regional District Director Ravindra Babu Garu in

the presence of Municipal commissioner has held

meeting with all the sections of ULB officials to review

the progress of all the developmental activities in the

city. Discussions were held on Urban Beautification,

Desiltation of drains, Repair of roads, Tree Plantation

Program, Encroachment Removals, Birth & Death

Registration and Repair of School Toilets. He had instructed the ULB staff to carry out the works

in a planned manner. Progress of AMRUT Scheme works, 13th Finance Commission, SC&ST Sub

plan were also reviewed.
