2017 Maranatha Sunday School class officers vacancies Hey, friends:

It is time to begin thinking again about Maranatha officer positions for the 2017 year, as the church has

nudged us to have our new officers in place by November 1st. Before we begin arm-twisting the class to

see who we can get to fill which position, I wanted to see which of you experienced and talented folk

might be willing to continue in your current positions for another year. You have certainly done an

exemplary job this year and the continuity for the class would be excellent. While your initial response

might be that you would prefer to have a root canal with no anesthetic (no offence, Pam!), perhaps

upon further reflection you could be persuaded to continue your very valuable service to the class?

Please think it over and let me know, preferably prior to class on Sunday so that we can create the

officer chart showing which positions need to be filled. Just so that you know, Judith Payton has

graciously agreed to remain on the Social Committee and has been working quietly to find additional

replacement members. We only need one more person to have that committee filled.

I have agreed (unless someone else wants to take it) to stay in my job as Curriculum VP for another year,

and am already working to get us the best possible teachers for 2017.

I didn’t include a Chili Supper chair, since Barton/Clinton/Gordey is changing this year and will take place

from Friday to Monday, instead of the traditional Sunday through Tuesday. In light of that, there will

only be one dinner provided at the church. Adult Council suggested to Horizons that they do spaghetti

as the one dinner since there will have been a church-wide chili cook-off a couple of weeks prior to BCG.

Thus, we may get a year off from the Chili Supper.

So here are the positions to be filled:

Office 2017 2016

President(s): Jim McCann

VP Curriculum: Angelyn Dale

VP Missions: Glenna Arnott and Jim Embrey

VP Finance: Bob Russell, Jim Embrey, Dave Grim, Karen Campbell, Jim McCann

Social Judith Payton Judith Payton, Gabrielle Blankenship, Terri Todd, Pam Sherman & one more person

Auction: Ed & Judith Payton

Attendance: Sharon Earley

Refreshments: Scott & Debra Morgan

Reporter Meredith Davison-Wansley)

Caranatha Carol Grim

Chili Supper Not to be filled this year

Historian Pam Low

Treasurer Susie Butterworth

Web Master Barbara Meehan

If you see a different position that you would like to fill, just let me know and I will put you down for that

spot. In any event, Jim and I are so appreciative of everything that you have done this year. It truly

takes a group of special officers to herd all the cats that comprise the Maranatha class!

I will look forward to hearing from each of you, hopefully before Sunday.

CLASS DISCUSSION GUIDELINES - We are a large class with many people who have lots of

interesting things to say. In order to give everyone an opportunity to voice their comments, we

are incorporating into our weekly lessons the discussion guidelines that Marita Morgan taught

us: (1) Only one comment per person per class. (2) Economy of words. (3). Speak loudly so

everyone has an opportunity to hear you. Thank you for adhering to these discussion

guidelines so that we will all have an opportunity to participate in the discussions and benefit

from hearing each other.
