IntroductionThis plant is a product of long-lasting experience of our engineers and technicians in the field of refrigeration technologies. It has been assembled with care at our modern manufacturing site. Although only high quality components were used which have proved to be highly reliable even under difficult operating conditions, a minimum of preventive maintenance is necessary in order to keep the plant operative and to minimize the costs for repair and maintenance.

Please bear in mind that, only when the following instructions are followed conscientiously can the rated performance of the installation be reached. Please read these instructions carefully before operating the plant.

1. PersonnelThe information contained in this manual is meant to be used by personnel with rich experience in electrics, refrigeration and machinery. Any attempt to repair or change the equipment may result in personal injury or property damage. The manufacturer or the dealer shall not be held responsible for the explanation of the information therein and shall not bear any responsibility for it.

Appoint one capable chief operator who is fully responsible for the proper operation of the plant. The chief operator and other people in charge of repair, maintenance, starting and stopping the plant should be experienced in the field of refrigeration. Basic knowledge in the field of electric installations is highly recommended.

2. Safety Signs and their MeaningsYou must be fully familiar with the safety signs and contents when operation and maintenance of the requirement.

! Warning! All circuit connection must accord with local and country rule and regulation of electrics. Please make sure the machine is completely shut down and the main power is cut off beforemaintenance.If the machine is to stop running for a long time, please turn off the main power to avoid the occurrence of electric shock. When the external power supply goes off all of a sudden, turn off the main power beforerestoring power supply. Check if the power supply is normal. Connect power to the machine when there is no abnormal circumstance. During non-checking period,no matter the equipment is running or not,please doensure the shutoff valve, connecting the safety valve, is fully opened.Setting value of control elements, such as level switch pressure switch time relay, should not be changed without written permission from Snowman.! A ttention! Please read the manual carefully and comprehend all items contained in order to correctlyinstall, connect and maintain.Following the standards specified in the manual is very important to realizing rated performance and keeping the operators safe. The operators on duty shall keep an eye on the malfunction indicator lights on the controlcabinet and operation panel and solve the problem immediately if any3. Acceptance and examination of equipmentPlease confirm the following points after receiving machine. If there is any unconformity or questions, please note it on the freight bill. Furthermore, written notice should be sent to the carriers agent, requesting him to inspect the equipment so as to confirm the damage incurred during shipment. If the damage is found after opening the package, it is advisable to keep the original package as it is and contact the nearest agency, dealer or representative office of the Company.

4. Operating stuff and power supplyThe plant belongs to production equipment. In order to keep it running, complete refrigeration system and water required to make ice are needed in addition to electric power as the dynamic force.

1. WaterFor normal operation of the ice-making machine and water pump, please use clean and fresh water that meets the required specification.

Note: Water of a different specification may cause the equipment to fur up or rust in the circulatory process, which may seriously affect its production capacity.

2. RefrigerantIn order to ensure normal functioning of the machine, a complete refrigeration system must be supplied for it. The equipment has been designed for use with refrigerant Freon (subject to the name plate). Never fill or refill other refrigerant to the refrigeration cycle of the plant. Only use clean, oil-free and water-free refrigerant.

3. Power SupplyNormally the power supply of the equipment is the three-phase AC(voltages&frequency subject to the name plate). Tube ice machines with different voltages may be supplied according to customers requirement.

water pumpStructure chart of tube ice evaporatorBoth inside and outside of the evaporating tube of the tube ice evaporator is specially designed. Inside, there is the circulating ice making water, and outside is filled with refrigerant. When the refrigeration system is working normally, cold water circulating pump will pump the water from the water tank to guide vane. Then, the guide vane will distribute the water screwy into the tubes. The water will flow down the inner surface of the tubes and exchanges heat with the refrigerant outside. During heat exchanging, the refrigerant will change from liquid to gas by absorbing large amount of heat. The temperature of water down the inner surface of the tubes will be rapidly decreased to below freezing point and ice formed. And then, based upon screwy cutting principle, ice breaker will cut the ice cylinder formed into segments. The ice segments cut will fall down on the ice-out rolling plates. The ice, taking the advantage of centrifugal

force, will be delivered out. The cold water unfrozen will flow to the water tank through the water connecting trough and circulate by using cold water circulating pump.

2. Installation of equipment2.1 Steps of lifting and unloadingSince the ice machine body is quite heavy, we require our users to provide facilities of lifting and transport in the course of unloading and moving in accordance with the following instructions:

1) While unloading the ice machine from such vehicles as van and truck, please pay full attention to safety and secure against excessive inclination since the weight of the machine is unevenly distributed in every direction;

2) Upon unloading the machine, never haste to uncrate but move the machine together with the carton as near to the installation site as possible and then uncrate;

3) After unpacking, sort and count the whole set of equipment one by one according to the packing list inside the file delivered with the machine. Check for fractures or damages and contact our companys after-sales service department upon finding any fractures or damages.

2.2 Choice of site locationThe installation site should meet the following conditions:

1) The foundation at the installation site should be constructed to ensure weight-bearing and vibration absorption as required by our company;

2) While choosing a suitable installation site, how to convenience the use and transport of ice should be taken into full account;

3) The machine must be placed indoors. The ambient room temperature should range from 5--35and not under 0 all year long and be kept from rising excessively in summer. Pay attention to lighting but avoid direct exposure to sunshine;

4Enough space around the system for its inspection and maintenance.3. Operating instruction of electric control unit3.1 About the tube ice machine controlStart-up

! Warning! The crankcase heater should be energized for a MINIMUM of 8hours and the crankcase mustbe free of liquid before attempting to operate the compressor.Do not attempt to start machine without priming pump and insuring proper rotation of both cutter and pump.Starting Procedure(Initial Start-up):

(NOTE:The machine will start in the harvest mode when set to "Ice")

1. Set the "PUMP/OFF/REMOTE/ICE"selector switch to the "pump"position.

2. Water should be circulated for a minimum of five minutes to prime the pump,purge the tubing of air and lubricate the cutter bearing.

NOTE:If pump is already primed skip steps 1-2

3. When there is good water flow,turn the "PUMP/OFF/REMOTE/ICE"selector switch to "Ice". The machine will then start in a harvest(thaw) period with the compressor running.

4. At the termination of the harvest(thaw) period,the machine will begin the freeze period.

5. Be sure to observe a minimum of four cycles of ice production to confirm the satisfactory operation of the machine (approximate time for four cycles is 60-80 minutes).

Complete the remaining part of the "Warranty Registration/Start-up Report" upon initial

machine start-up and return it to Tube-Ice,LLC.Shut-down

! A ttention! The red "Emergency stop" button should only be used for emergency shutdown.For normalshutdown use the "PUMP/OFF/REMOTE/ICE" selection switch.1. Set the "PUMP/OFF/REMOTE/ICE" switch to the OFF position.Do not use the machine disconnect to stop the machine.If the disconnect is used the crankcase heater will be de-energized and liquid refrigerant will migrate to the compressor.

2. If in a freeze mode,the machine will continue to run.

3. At the completion of the freeze cycle the machine will harvest and stop. The completion of a cycle ensures that all ice is removed from the freezer to prevent refreeze when the machine is restarted.

4. If in a harvest,the machine will complete the harvest and stop.

3.2 Operation Tips If the operation of your machine is not controlled by a timer,bin level control or some other mechanism to automatically start and stop ice production,you should use ONLY the "PUMP/OFF/REMOTE/ICE" toggle switch to start and stop machine.

By turning the "PUMP/OFF/REMOTE/ICE"selector switch to OFF position,the machine will stop after the next harvest cycle.

Do not use the "Emergency stop" push button or the machine disconnect for normal shutdownof the machine.

Throw the "Disconnext"only in an emergency or for safety when performing certain service or repairs to the machine.The compressor crankcase heater is de-energized when the disconnect is thrown.

The "Ice"position can be used to initiate a harvest cycle.When it is pushed during a freeze cycle,it will immediately initiate a harvest cycle.

When there is disorderly closedown, especially the disorderly emergency stop during icedoffing,( such as, ice cutter breakdown, water pump breakdown, compressor breakdown, electrical outage, etc). Since there is usually a lot of refrigerant remained inside the ice maker, when restart the equipment, it is liable to cause compressor slugging and damaged. Therefore, when restart the equipment after disorderly closedown, an experienced refrigeration system operator is required to designate to turn down the compressor suction valve moderately. Closely observe the frosting situation of the suction pipe and compressor head and the running noise of the compressor, to guarantee there is no liquid return in the system and damage the compressor. You can only fully open the compressor suction valve, after ensuring the refrigerant liquid inside the ice maker is normal. The system enters normal running state.

4. Maintenance

Excellent maintenance is very important to the performance and durability of the equipment. Ice making equipment should be maintained by special personnel (trained by SNOWMAN). Client should pay attention to the train to new staff for maintaining the equipments to make sure excellent operation and maintenance of the tube ice machine.

4.1 Clean up water tankWater tank and water pump should be always clean without impurity accumulating. When there are remains (impurity and clay), the water tank should be thoroughly cleaned up. If the machine stops running for more than 1 day, the water tank should also be cleaned up before starting again to make sure the quality of ice made.

Detailed cleaning process as following:

1. Stop the main electrical source.

2. Drain all the water from the water tank by water drain manual valve and then use detergent and long shaft bristle brush for cleaning up the dirt in the water tank. Repeatedly wash with fresh water until cleaned up.

3. Filling new water to the liquid level that the float ball valve stop water filling, the machine can be started for using.

4.2 Clean up evaporating tubesIf long term using, inner surface of the evaporating tubes will accumulates some dirt, which requires regular cleaning. The cleaning frequency depends on the water quality. Where the water is hard ( too high calcareous content of the water), it is necessary to clean every 3-6 months; while where the water quality is normal or soft, twice one year is enough.

Detailed cleaning process as following:

1. Firstly, drain all the water from the water tank. Then, close the water feeding valve when 90% of the water tank is filled with water. And then, add 2.1 KL high density citric acid to the water.

2. Close the refrigeration compressor, shutoff valve of the liquid line. Open the water pump for circulating around 2 to 3 hours (without refrigeration).

3. When the sewage is drained, fill new water for about 30 minutes. When the remained detergent is cleaned up, drain all the water again. Circulate the cleaning more than twice to make sure the detergent

is all cleaned up.

4. Open the water feeding valve, and recover the refrigerating system to make the machine back to the normal operation state. You can start using when filling new water to the liquid level that float ball valve will stop feeding water.

4.3 Clean up condenser (air cooled)The tube walls and fins of air-cooling condenser will accumulate dust after long-time use, which will affect heat transmission of the condenser and result in excessive high pressure in the condenser. Thus, it is required to clean the dust during routine maintenance. Brush off the dust on the tube walls and fins of cooling air condenser with bristle paint brush or copper-wire brush and blow it with the rubber tube of air compressor ( atmospheric pressure: 5) until the dust is cleaned off.

4.4 Clean up condenser (water cooled)During the condenser operating, cooling water scale will be form inside of the pipeline and Impact effect of heat transfer. It should clean frequently to improve cooling effect. The frequency depends on the water quality, In the region consisting of extremely hard water, it is necessary to clean once every three months, but in normal water or soft water, need only clean twice per year. Generally according to the differential pressure of the Freon saturation pressure which the exhaust pressure and ambient temperature corresponding to. When the differential pressure is over 2bar, can be determined to cleaning condenser, the steps of cleaning condenser as follow:

If the cooling tower is higher than condenser, Should emptying the water cooling tower or close the valves of condenser and cooling tower outlet and inlet;

Open the drain valve which under the end cover of the condenser, drain water from the condenser. Dismantle the ends of the condenser Cover

Reciprocating cleansing each copper pipe with water by special condenser cleaning bush

After cleaning, reinstall the ends of cover and connecting pipeline.

4.5 Maintenance of compressor1. It should not excess 8 times for starting and stopping compressor in one hour. And least running time should be more than 5 minutes.

2. Insect protecting device and all controlling parts of compressor.

3. Inspect whether wire is firm connected or not.

4. Immediately inspect the lubrication situation when starting the machine. After running first 100 hours,

the oil should be changed, which includes clean oil filter net and magnetism jam. Henceforth, it needs to change oil every 3 years or every 10000-12000 running hours (for detailed instructions see change refrigeration oil).

5. Keep the surface of the compressor clean.

4.6 Change refrigeration oilThe refrigeration oil in compressor will directly affect the compressor running smooth or not. Oil deficiency or too much impurity will do harm to the lubrication efficiency and have direct influence to the durability of compressor. As for clean degree, we suggest changing the oil after running first 100 hours. Henceforth, it needs to change oil every 3 years or every 10000-12000 running hours.

Detailed changing process as following:

1. Stop main power supply.

2. Close the high pressure valve, low pressure valve and oil return pipe valve of the compressor.

3. Then, evacuate all the refrigerant from the compressor.

4. When finished, discharge all the refrigeration oil from the compressor through oil valve.

5. Vacuumize the compressor to make the refrigeration oil sucked naturally through the oil valve until reaching 1/3-1/2 of the oil sight glass.

6. When oil filling is finished, close the oil valve. Then vacuumize the compressor for 15 minutes.

7. Then, firstly, open the high pressure valve, then low pressure valve, finally, oil pipe valve.

8. Carry the electrical source. It can be started when the oil is heated for 6 hours.

Attention: Refrigerant should not randomly discharged, which needs safe handling. Chloridized oil will pollute the environment. Waste oil handling should consider ecological pollution. The refrigeration oil used should be consonant with the compressor model and refrigerant.

5. Replacement of major components5.1 Replacement of filter element of drying filterA. Close liquid outlet valve of condenser so that system can run for a certain period. Then close ball valve in liquid supply pipe;

B. Detach end bracket of dry filterC. Take filter element out. Replace with new one quickly and cover the end bracketD. Do not tighten screw on end bracket first. Open liquid outlet valve of condenser slightly to exhaust gasE. Tighten screw and open liquid outlet valve of condenser and globe valve; F. Detect leakage of used parts after normal operation of system.

5.2 Replacement of valve disc of solenoid valveA. Close liquid outlet valve of condenser so that system can run for a certain period. Then close ball valve in liquid supply pipe;

B. Detach valve cap of electromagnetically operated valve;

C. Take filter element out. Replace with new one and cover the valve cap;

D. Do not tighten screw on end bracket first. Open liquid outlet valve of condenser slightly to exhaust gas;

E. Tighten screw and open liquid outlet valve of condenser and ball valve; F. Detect leakage of used parts after normal operation of system.

5.3 Replacement of filter element of suction valveA. Close air return valve of compressor after normal stop of system; B. Detach end cap of filter;

C. Clean filtering cartridge, replace filter element and install end cap;

D. Do not tighten screw on end cap first. Open liquid supply electromagnetically operated valve to exhaust gas;

E. Tighten screw and open air return valve of condenser;

F. Detect leakage of used parts after normal operation of system.

5.4 Replacement and cleaning of valve disc of expansion valveA. Close liquid supply ball valve so that system can run for a certain period. Vacuumize low-pressure

section;

B. Detach valve cap and take valve disc and filter out; C. Clean or replace valve disc and filter;

D. Reinstall expansion valve;

E. Vacuumize low-pressure section;

F. Detect leakage of used parts after normal operation of system.

6. Common trouble shootingFailurePossible causesTreatment

Turn on cam switch, ice machine does not start.

Power supply is normal: Power light is on;

Ice making state is in working: Make ice operation indication lamp is on;

Ice doffing state is in working: Doff ice operation indication lamp is on;1. No power supply.Check whether the electrical source breaks off, or the breaker, fuse is burned out. After fixing, the power light getting on.

2.Cam switch/emergency stop button is damaged.Replace cam switch.

3.Emergency stop button or remote emergency stop button is disconnected.Connect emergency stop button or remote emergency stop button Or short circuit the remote emergency stop button.

Compressor HLP/ INT/OIL

abnormity indication lamp is on1.Compressor high pressure controller protects.Check the setting value of high and low pressure, or

whether water cooling tower system is on or blocked etc.

2.Compressor temperature control module protects.Check whether the compressor winding is overheating. It will automatically reset when the

motor is cooled down.

3.Compressor oil pressure difference protects.Check whether the compressor is lack of

oil or oil return is abnormal. Press emergency stop button to reset after failure recovery.

4.Compressor temperature control module/oil pressure difference switch/ high-low

pressure controller is damaged.Replace temperature control module/oil pressure difference switch/ high-low pressure controller.

5.System low pressure failure.Check whether the refrigerant is filled into the system, pipe is blocked, liquid supply solenoid valve or circuit is damaged.

Motor overload indication lamp is on.1.Air fan of water cooling tower is overloaded.Check the reason of overload, Press the thermal

relay protector FR1 for resetting.

2.Check the reason of overload, Press the thermal

relay protector FR1 for resetting.Check the reason of overload, Press the thermal relay protector FR2 for resetting.

3.Ice cutter is overloaded.Check the reason of overload, Press the thermal relay protector FR3 for resetting.

4.Water pump is overloaded.Check the reason of overload, Press the thermal relay protector FR4 for resetting.

5.Compressor is thermal overload.Check the reason of overload, Press the thermal relay protector FR5/FR6 for resetting.

6.The circuit of motor is abnormal or motor is damaged.Check the circuit of motor or replace motor.

Ice up/low water abnormity indication lamp is on.1.The ice storage is full/ water tank lack of water.Normal protection function.

2.The connection of ice up/flow switch is wrong.Please check the correct connection of ice up/flow switch in circuit diagram.

3.Ice up/flow switch is damaged.Replace ice up/flow switch.

4.The motor of water pump is abnormal.Check the motor and vane of water pump.

The power supply abnormity indication lamp is on.1.The power supply voltage is higher than the protecting upper limit value or lower than lower

limit value.Check the power supply voltage. The protecting upper limit value is AC U+10%. lower limit value is AC U-10%.

2.The power supply is anti-

phase.Cut off the power, and exchange any two phases of

the power line.

3.The adjusted time value of power protector is not

moderate.Check the adjusted time value of protector.

The action time of AC U-10%Us AC U+10% is

Seconds. The action mode is delay failure detection.

4.The power protector is damaged.Replace the power protector.(RM4TR32/RM4TG20)

Note: After failure recovery, it needs to press emergency stop button firstly to reset the failure, then start up the ice machine. When switch on the ice machine, please turn on QF1 firstly, then turn on QF2. Otherwise, it would cause power failure protection and need to press emergency stop button to reset again. Finally, turn the cam switch to "ICE" position to make ice.
