GENERAL INDICATIONS Before installing a Security or Detector door it is necessary to have an electrical system through a current transformer having 230 V primary and 12 V secondary with a minimum output of 25 VA (supplied with the door). For Security doors do not use transformers different from those supplied with the door.

With regards to the purchase and installation of the necessary electrical materials for the completion of the work, always turn to qualified installers that are obliged to perform the

installation in a workmanlike fashion issuing a Conformity Declaration

The maximum distance between the current transformer and the connector inserted into the frame, depends on the cable section that connects them. We can say that:

S = L x 0.1 where : S = minimum section to use (in mm2) L = length of “double” wire negative + positive (in m). Example: To connect the secondary of the transformer to the frame board I need a double-wire cable of (L) 40 m, what is the minimum section that it should have? Minimum section (S) = (L) 40 x 0.1 = 4 mm2. The door is supplied from the manufacturer in a manual mode and in a blank status so that the fitting with its various adjustments of the hinges, latch etc., can be manually performed through the inside knob. The buffer battery positioned inside the door can be left on charge for an unlimited period. It is advisable to keep the door closed while not in use so that the battery can be left charging. For greater duration of the battery it is advised to keep the door constantly in charge (24 hours a day). If from time to time the mains are switched off through a switch (for example in a holiday home) it is necessary to foresee for the door to be constantly powered, so as to be able to use it immediately, with no intervention of the external battery or of a key through the security cylinder.

VOLTAGE VALUES CHECKS

Fig. a Fig. b Fig. c The following controls can be performed to verify the presence and correct voltage value of the transformer and battery.

• Transformer voltage control: using a multimeter, touch with the terminals the screws of the frame connection in position 1 and 2 (fig. a). The minimum value detected should be 11.5V÷19V ac.

• Battery voltage control: (FOR THE SECURITY VERSION ONLY) touch with the red terminal the contact on the door and with the black terminal a part of the lock, eg. latch (fig. b). The value read should be 10.5V dc.

• Frame-contact voltage control: this is measured between the contact on the frame and the frame itself. Because the paint of the frame has an insulating effect, place the black terminal on one of the fixing screws of the register or on the register itself (fig. c). The voltage value that should be read is approx. 13.5V÷22Vdc; in the event the reading is negative, verify the wire position (numbered with 3 and 4) and do not close the door without having eliminated the problem.

During the manual adjustments, pay great attention to the adjustment of the latch because if it doesn’t fully exit when the door is closed the lock movement is hindered.

FRAME BOARD CONNECTIONS After having mechanically adjusted the door, the external wires must then be connected to the electrical board of the frame.

Verify that the wires having terminals 3 and 4, fitted on the frame, are correctly positioned.

That is to say that the wire marked with 3 must be connected to the frame contact (Komunicator), the wire marked with 4 must be earthed on the frame.

This is a very delicate operation because if the wires are connected incorrectly the

electronic board may be damaged.

Take note of the numbered tags on each of the wires because the wire colour could change. The number of the wire corresponds to the position in which it must be connected.

When connecting the wires, make sure they do not touch together and cause a short circuit. correct method

incorrect method

After the connection of the various wires, the board container is inserted in the frame housing and is fixed taking care not to pinch the wires between container and frame. The up-down direction of the container is the same. Avoid excessive wire accumulation behind the card.

The first operation to perform is as follows: MANUAL ACTIVATION There is no mechanical connection between motor and locking bolts when the door leaves the factory. This means that when the door is activated a procedure is required that allows to modify the mechanical status of the lock and activate the motor until the related mechanical parts are connected.

This procedure should be performed each time the manual opening of the door occurs. The buffer battery is flat and to perform the test operations it is necessary to leave the door closed and charging with a 12 V ac, by means of the supplied transformer, for about 30 minutes or insert a 9V (6LR61) battery in the holder of the external escutcheon plate. For partially charged batteries, the manual activation operation must be performed with the door closed. By following the indicated procedure the door can be put in a working condition both when it is in the “new door” status as well as when it has already been formatted:

Open the cover of the internal escutcheon byinserting a narrow tool in the notches.

For Elettra Security, Detector and Doorpass doors:

Move the stem towards the hinge side of the door.Keep it pressed for the entire duration of theoperation indicated below up to hearing a click. See the indications on the following page.

For Bi-Elettra Security, Detector and Doorpass doors:

Insert the key into the cylinder and turn towards thehinges until a click is heard. Keep the rotation for the entire duration of theoperation indicated below up to hearing a click. See the indications on the following page.

4. Select the functions menu and then select

mechanical re-set

5. The door performs some operations, signals Opening and a complete opening cycle is immediately performed, at the end Enter is signalled.

The door at this point should be operative and open. In the event that the mechanical connection has not occurred, the operation may be executed many times until the correct set-up is achieved. A new door continually signals its present status: Through LEDs indicating the blank status for the Security door with the door closed and the

bolts out (with the RED and GREEN LEDs continuously on) Through a blank status icon on the display for the Detector door.

The “new door” condition is a particular functional status, in which the door accepts all keys that are presented. To urge the user to format the door (memorising of the keys), opening is performed with a 5 second delay all the time the door remains in this status. This opening delay is applied for any type of command from the keyboard on the door, remote button, external keyboard, remote control and keys. Perform the door set-up following the “USER’S INSTRUCTIONS” manual supplied with the door.

FITTING OF THE ESCUTCHEON PLATE FOR PREPARED DOORS. WARNING: avoid operations that may cause foreign objects to enter inside the lock (iron filings, shavings, etc). Cover the door with the panels that have been drilled following the technical specifications on pages 28.

REPLACEMENT OF THE BATTERY The only part that requires changing in time is the battery, the charge level of which is kept under control by the electronic control unit.

Flat battery test In the event of elevated absorption, a test of the battery level is performed (in the exact moment in which the latch is extracted) during the movement of the motor. The door is in any case opened even if the batteries are low, but is preceded by the battery KO signal until the problem has been resolved (batteries sufficiently charged). The part that supplies power to the door through contacts positioned on the frame is necessary/serves both for the charging of the Ni-Cd batteries as well as powering all circuits “during an emergency”. This means that the external power supply directly participates to the operation of the electronically powered parts, their energy normally being supplied by the battery unit, but in the event that these are completely flat, power is obtained directly from the current coming from the mains. Replaced batteries must be disposed of in the correct manner following the norms in force concerning special refuse. To replace the battery, act in the following manner:

1. Unscrew and remove the trim from the edge of the door. 2. Unscrewing the indicated screw, remove

the cover on the lock.

3. Disconnect the connector from the electronic board and remove the

battery. Fit a new battery and connect it to the board. Close the lock cover and refit the trim. It is necessary to reset the date and time which were lost when the battery was disconnected.

Having to replace a new lock board VMN299A, it is possible to transfer the memory of the hold board onto the new one, thus maintaining the memory of all the keys, pin code, doorpass, radiocontrols, pushbuttons and all the various system settings. Proceed as follows:

cut the 3 connectors of the board to be replaced making sure not to hold the memory holding plate. Insert the memory plate onto the new board. Fit the board back.

If this transfer is not carried out, it is necessary to memorise all the keys and possible radiocontrols, doorpass, pushbuttons, pin code once again and set all the manufacturer’s settings. SOFTWARE VERSIONS Information regarding the software code of all elements within the system are supplied. In the SOFTWARE VERSIONS menu 5 panels are presented in sequence, each of them indicates the code of the board and the related detected software code. Code VMN299A represents the code of the lock electronic board. Code VMN300A represents the code of the frame electronic board. Code VMN246B represents the code of the doorpass keys receiver electronic board. Code VMN297A represents the code of the internal escutcheon. Code VMN298A represents the code of the external escutcheon. The procedure to perform to view the software versions is as follows: 1. Push the Clear button (keeping it pushed)

2. Present any key to the internal escutcheon in case of “new door” or “master” if already memorised keys are present

Page 19: Manual de Instal a Tie ELLETRA

YOUR HOME, YOUR LIFE

Installation and back-up manual Rev. 1 dated 23/3/2006 DRAFT 19

3. If the key is recognised the door switches to the configuration menu, otherwise an error signal is given and the user is denied access (end of procedure)

4. Release the Clear button

5. From the configuration menu select (through the “Arrow up” and “Arrow down” keys) the DIAGNOSES MENU and then the SOFTWARE VERSIONS menu so then 5 panels are displayed in sequence, each indicating the hardware code of the board and the related detected software code. The following panel is displayed through the “Arrow up” and “Arrow down” keys.

6. The Clear key ends the introduction.

Accessory synchronisation (Detector only) The communication between the various electronic boards requires the use of coding algorithms. The boards leave the factory in a “non-coded communication” condition: in this condition it is possible to make up the door kit using any board, that is to say that the boards do not constitute a “logic unit”, meaning that they don’t recognise each other. The coded communication is activated from the time the item “EXTERNAL COMMUNIC.” “ACCESSORY SINCHRON.” is selected from the “DEVICE CONFIGURATION” menu: this means that a logic unit is created. The procedure to perform (with the door open) is as follows:

1. Push the Clear button (keeping it pushed) 2. Present any key to the internal escutcheon in case of “new door” or “master” if already

memorised keys are present

3. If the key is recognised, the door switches to the configuration menu, otherwise the user cannot gain entry and an error is signalled (end of procedure).

4. Release the Clear button.

5. select the item DEVICE CONFIGURATION, then the item EXTERNAL COMMUNIC.,

selecting the item ACCESSORY SINCHRON. Once this operation is performed it is possible to return to the main menu.

This type of protection makes it impossible to introduce an unknown frame kit or apparatus in substitution or overlay to that present on the system. In the event that it is necessary to replace, for maintenance purposes, a board in use it will be necessary, following the manual replacement operation, WITH THE DOOR OPEN to enter into the menu and perform the accessory synchronisation. From this point on, all commands will once again be accepted by the door. It is simply necessary to select once the item “jambs synchronise” to establish the coded communication: there are no commands available to take the door into a “non-coded communication” condition.

Every time a door is configured carry out the synchronization.

NEW BOARD SETTINGS (Detector and Security) This operation takes the door back to the “new door” status, which can therefore be opened with any key. This is an “emergency” procedure to be used when it is not possible to perform the cancellation of keys as illustrated in the User’s Manual (e.g. loss of all memorised master keys) or during the repair or re-establishment phases of the door. To this purpose there is a jumper, which is normally open, on the “door” board (inside the lock) which, if closed and then re-opened, cancels all keys, PINs and memorised peripherals with the consequent activation of the “new door” mode. The part of the memory which deals with the transaction buffer doesn’t get altered. To perform this operation all the connectors may be disconnected except that of the battery and that of the escutcheons.

Jumper in normal conditions. Insert the jumper in the pins on the right until the blank status icon appears on the display, take it then back to the normal position (for detector and doorpass doors). Regarding security doors, leave it inserted for a few seconds before taking it back to the normal position.

The confirmation that the cancellation operation has been correctly performed is given by: for the Detector doors, the first icon positioned on the bottom left of the display: at the end of

the operation this icon switches from the configured door status to the blank door status to indicate the loss of security.

whereas, for the Security doors the green and red blank door LEDs light up.

BOARD COMPATIBILITY The boards relating to this Elettra detector door version have some compatibility levels with the “old” boards. Here below are listed the compatibility criteria.

1. The VMN299A lock board (new) is compatible:

1.1. with the VMN230A frame boards (old) that take MH0AP015 software versions and later, with the following limitations:

1.1.1. the frame board will only use the language it holds for SMS communications, regardless of the language used by the door board;

1.1.2. the door status signalling relay contact cannot be modified;

1.2. with the VMN227A and VMN228A escutcheon boards (old), with the following limitations:

1.2.1. it will never be possible to switch off the VMN299A door board because the escutcheon boards keep “active” a signal that doesn’t allow such switching off;

1.2.2. acoustic signals will not be available;

1.2.3. light signals, such as emergency and courtesy lights, will not be available;

1.2.4. the door locked LED signal will not be available.

1.3. with the doorpass VMN246B key receivers but only with the MH0C9006 software or later: it is not possible to use VMN246B having previous software versions. On the contrary, the MH0C9006 software version is compatible with the “old” VMN229A door boards equipped with any software version.

2. The VMN300A frame board (new) is compatible with VMN229A lock boards (old) equipped with any software version, with the following limitations:

2.1. the frame board will use the default language amongst the 12 available ones for SMS communications, that is to say Italian

2.2. the relay management will be the default one (door status signalling with open contact with the door locked), and cannot be modified;

3. The VMN297A internal escutcheon board (new) is not compatible with the VMN229A lock boards (old).

4. The VMN298A internal escutcheon board (new) is not compatible with the VMN229A lock boards (old).

POWER SAVING After a 2 hour mains shortage (time that can be set from the menu SET TIMERS → POWER SAVING) the “door” board controls the its own switching off and of the frame boards and of the doorpass key receiver and further of the loads (leds, lights, display back lighting) of the escutcheons. In this conditions the battery power intake is extremely low, thus allowing a fully charged and sound battery to last over 20 days without mains power. In this conditions, only the escutcheon and related displays are lit, (but with the backlighting off) displaying the “Stand-by” signal. During the mains shortage, the emergency light is lit for 20 minutes (the time can be set form the menu SET TIMERS → POWER SAVING) starting from the time when the shortage has occurred, but with the door locked. The POWER SAVING timer can be set from 1 min. to 999 min. (more than 16 ½ h); by setting the value 0 this function is disabled, that is to say that the door switches off in the event of a mains shortage only when the battery is fully flat. The manufacturer settings for this timer is 120 minutes (2 hours).

Page 24: Manual de Instal a Tie ELLETRA

YOUR HOME, YOUR LIFE

Installation and back-up manual Rev. 1 dated 23/3/2006 DRAFT 24

POWER SUPPLY STATUS In the event the mains supply is present, the following icon is viewed . In the event such mains supply is missing with the door closed, or with the door opened, the picture of a battery is used: this icon can view 4 different charge status. In the event of a fault, a status of “flat battery” is displayed . The charge status is represented by a battery containing 0, 1, 2, 3 lines, which indicates the current value of the POWER SAVING timer. Therefore the thresholds of flat battery are calculated as follows:

1. lack of mains supply from 0 min. to 29 min. : battery with 3 lines . 2. lack of mains supply from 30 min. to 59 min.: battery with 2 lines . 3. lack of mains supply from 60 min. to 89 min.: battery with 1 line . 4. lack of mains supply from 90 min. to 119 min.: battery flat .

Self switching occurs when 120 minutes of mains shortage occur. It can be noticed that, by removing the mains supply, the lines inside the battery decrease every half an hour, showing the faulty situation that is occurring, whereas when the power is installed the plug is displayed but the lines (not displayed) keep increasing with a time span 10 times slower than that used for the decrease, indicating that a charge-up phase is occurring. The result obtained is that by removing once again the mains supply the battery containing all the lines is not displayed, but the number of lines equal to the current count is displayed. Therefore during the battery charging-up phase the thresholds are calculated as follows:

1. presence of main supply from 0 min. to 290 min.: battery flat . 2. presence of main supply from 300 min. to 590 min.: battery with 1 line. 3. presence of main supply from 600 min. to 890 min.: battery with 2 lines. 4. presence of main supply from more than 900 min.: battery with 3 lines.

It is possible to disable the self switching function by setting the POWER SAVING timer to 0. In this condition, in addition to never switching off in the event of the mains shortage, the icon “battery flat” will be used to show that is no possible to evaluate how long the battery has not been charged for. Every time the supply is disconnected from the door board, the charge thresholds of the battery will be indicated through the battery flat icon .

CURRENT DIAGRAM Each opening and locking operation, that is to say every time the bolts are moved in or out (and possibly also the latch in the event of opening, memorises up to 42 readings of the level of current dynamically absorbed by the motor during the operation. 100 milliseconds separate each one of these readings. The availability of this information, always referred to the last operation, allows to view on a bar graph, available in the DIAGNOSES MEMU → CURRENT DIAGRAM, the trend of the current during the whole working operation of mechanical parts. The viewing of the 2 extra current threshold levels, immediate (upper) and delayed (lower) indicated through horizontal lines, set during testing and therefore specific for each door board, allows to have a rough idea of the stress applied to the door during each single operation.

Delayed extra current threshold

Immediate extra current threshold

Current diagram display example

This indication is particularly useful during installation, where the operator can verify for sure if the door has been correctly installed. It represents a useful tool also over the whole life of the door, allowing the final user to verify, whenever it being useful, the wear status of the door thus allowing him to call for technical assistance in the event of serious wear.

In the example a working cycle of approx. 1.3 seconds can be seen (13 lines of 0.1 seconds each). It was maintained well below the immediate extra current threshold but it went once over the delayed extra current threshold; the 2 pitches display the moment of greater effort of the motor.

The panel can display working cycles having a total duration not over 4 seconds.

In the event of a block due to extra current (immediate or delayed) of a locking cycle, an error signal is displayed. In this case a graph having a bar that reaches the immediate extra current reference level can be noticed, or the delayed extra current reference level will go ever within 5 lines, which may also be not in a row (approx. 500 milliseconds, that is to say ½ second).

REPLACEMENT OF RECEIVER ELECTRONIC BOARD (DoorPass) In the event it is necessary to replace the receiver electronic board, proceed as follows: Disconnect the battery from the lock board see instructions on page 15 With the door open remove the internal cover (after having removed the spyhole and escutcheons possibly present)

Disconnect the connectors (No 4)

Unscrew the 4 screws that hold the board. Replace the board and connect the connectors (the two connectors that are the same can be swapped). Connect the previously disconnected battery.

With the door open:

1. press the Clear key (keep it pressed) 2. present the internal escutcheon any key if “new door ” or “master” if some memorized

keys are already present

3. if the key is recognized, the door gets to the configuration menu, otherwise the user is not allowed to access and there is an Error indication (end of procedure)

4. release the Clear key

Page 28: Manual de Instal a Tie ELLETRA

5. from the configuration menu (by means of keys “Arrow up ” and “Arrow down ” ) select the menu DEVICE CONFIGURATION and subsequently the menu EXTERNAL COMMUNIC., then the item ACCESSORY SINCHRONISATION. Once this operation is performed the menu is viewed again.

It is no necessary to memorise again the door pass keys but it is necessary to perform the following procedure.

1. press the Clear key (keep it pressed) 2. present the internal escutcheon any key if “new door ” or “master” if some memorized

keys are already present

3. if the key is recognized, the door gets to the configuration menu, otherwise the user is not allowed to access and there is an Error indication (end of procedure)

4. release the Clear key

5. have all the doorpass keys read from the outside by placing them to the centre of the door

for at least 5 seconds each. Check the door functioning and then apply the panelling.

ELECTRICAL BUTTON CONNECTIONS The electrical remote button is connected to connectors 5 and 6 if supplied by a direct current or alternating of 6V÷24V with I min. of 10Ma. If the said button is not powered, connect following the diagram below:
