Water features: the owner attached great importance to an

XL-sized pool. Given its position on the flybridge, the size of the

pool was restricted for stability reasons. A glass partition with

an integrated waterfall system acts as an eyecatcher.

simple design trick is all it took to transform an agile, high-

octane sports yacht into a martial-looking madcap with strikingly aggressive lines.

“The austere military look can be attri-buted mainly to the inverted 45° window frontage on the bridge deck and a wide range of angular superstructure details”,

explains designer Enrico Gobbi, who together with his Venice-based firm, Team 4 Design, was responsible for sty-ling “Polaris’” entire exterior and interi-or. The builder Rossinavi commissioned Arrabito Naval Architects to optimise her lines, and this 48.29-metre aluminium semi-displacement yacht was designed

to do a maximum of 24 knots and given a range of 3800 nautical miles at ten knots. “The owner loves high speeds and insisted on having powerful twin MTU 4000 Series diesels installed, each delivering 2580 kilowatts of output to the shafts“, says owner’s representative Miha Lovec, who heads up a yacht ma-

nagement business in Slovenia together with his brother and who has already partnered with Rossinavi several times. Another matter very close to the owner’s heart is revealed as soon as you step out onto the sundeck. A huge swimming pool featuring a waterfall system domi-nates this open-air section and attracts

all the attention. “The owner originally wanted an even larger XL-sized pool“, Lovec explains. “However that was not feasible for stability reasons, given its position on the sundeck.” “Polaris” will mainly cruise the Mediterranean, that’s the reason why an optimum configura-tion of the fly deck played such a clearly

Fine blend: the main-deck saloon (1, 2) appears modern and classic at

the same time. The saloon above (3) serves as a cinema, karaoke bar and

Gobbi describes the style as modern with classic influences and art deco elements. Light maple, neutral-varnished ebony, marble and light-coloured fabrics domi-nate the interior, whilst omnipresent stainless steel details provide a contrast that really works. All the lamps on board were supplied by Porta Romana, and the

owner’s wife selected Armani Casa fabrics for the interior and Ralph Lauren fabrics for out on deck. Background-lit and subtly gleaming marble panels adorn the main saloon and owner’s bathroom – in line with the current trend. Enrico Gobbi came up with something really special for the lobby: a 7.50-metre high

overriding role during the design process. A seating arrangement, shaded by an electrically operated, synchronous-con-trol slatted roof, with two dining tables and a striking bar featuring barstools facing in the direction of travel is located forward of the pool.

“Polaris” is the second yacht after “Param Jamuna IV” built by Rossinavi, based on Enrico Gobbi’s “Prince Shark” concept. “The interior and the layout of both yachts however could hardly be more different“, says the designer. “Polaris” is, despite her RINA and MCA classification, a yacht purely for private use. Whilst she has a conventional layout with four guest suites on the lower deck and the owner’s domain forward on the main deck, her interior however clearly stands out from the crowd, thanks to the owner’s wife having had substantial design involvement. “The lady has taste and loves art”, raves Enrico Gobbi, who selected the varied range of materials for the entire interior together with her.

Luminescent stone: illuminated onyx fronts in bathrooms are increasingly gaining

acceptance on superyachts, like in the spacious owner’s suite on board “Polaris”.
