Book review
Erik de Graaff and Anette Kolmos, eds. Management of Change-Implementation of Problem-based and Project-Based Learning in Engineering, Sense Publishers, 2007
Problem-Based and Project-Based Learning (PBL) are teaching methods based on principles ofstudent-centred learning, which target and interdisciplinary engineering curriculum. The transitionfrom strictly traditional approaches in engineering education represents significant opportunitiesfor change. Currently many engineering institutions in different countries all over the world exploitthese opportunities for change as they move from the traditional paradigm towards the techno-science paradigm by implementing PBL models. This book addresses the need for more structuredinformation on the implementation process, in particular in existing engineering schools and itaims to put together an overview of 12 cases from 9 different countries that all have implementedPBL and researched the outcome of it. The concrete case stories serve as a basis for inspirationfor further development: what to both do and how to do it.
