In our own printing plant in Blekinge county we print not only totally new patterns each season, but also variations of our former successful textiles. In that way you can live a long time with your Mairo textiles, you can combine and add when you are in the mood. Because we give shape and produce all our products under our own management, the time between idea and ready product is very short. That also gives us possibilities to prepare tailor-made products in relatively small amounts, such as a changed printing colour combination, new cushion shape, etc. - just to meet the particular client’s demands for unique solutions.

A Swedish traditionMairo material emanates from a traditional and genuine type of craft

and we print all our material in our own print works in Sölvesborg in

Blekinge, Sweden.

The dyes are mixed and weighed before being poured into the 18 m

long printing machine manually. Everything is carried out manually

from film exposure to adjusting the templates onto the printing mats.

All using perfect precision. When the cloth is gathered together, each

metre is checked before it is rolled up.

As we mix our dyes ourselves, we get the exact colour and nuance we

expect. The dyes are water based and environmentally friendly right

from the basic paste to the end colour. The dyes are long lived, which

means we can use a mix several times. But we are always on the look-

out for new and more environmentally friendly solutions.

We always print on natural materials such as linen, linen mixes and

cotton.

AnemoneAnemone is a hand painted water colour pattern of exotic flowers in all shapes. The inspiration for Anemone came from an urge to travel to somewhere exotic. ”I love working with details. You have to have lots of details to look at, so the eye never gets tired of investigating. Anemone should bring you warmth and a sense of inquisitiveness”, Tess Jacobson tells us.

I found inspiration for Hosta in my lush inner court in Malmö, Sweden. Many different sorts of plants grow on same spot; Roses, Hostas and Peonies. The other plants have to make room for the Hostas big and growing leafs. It has its own place in the garden. Hosta is a big and prideful pattern that takes a lot of space in its sense. It could gladly combined with the sibling pattern Ranka.

Kung Bore was one of Anna’s first patterns and her own special favourite. The pattern was created during a sad period in Anna’s life when she lived in an extremely quiet town, while she herself was longing to lead a life full of magic and togetherness. The pattern is constructed along the classical lines of ”toile de jouy” but up close you find that the story is contemporary.

Climbing bines of leafs and gorgeously inner court plants have been my inspiration for Ranka. The lovely bines always want to go along the facade and nicely change color after season. Ranka is a pattern that gladly could be combined with Hosta, together they will create a great oasis!

SlånbärSlånbär is a powerful aquarelle pattern made by hand.“A trip to the blackthorn thicket was my inspiration while creating this pattern. I always thought that sloes berries looks delicious, like smooth velvet but unfortunately the taste is bitter and acrid. The berry dangling from the branches but too much thorn makes them hard to pick. They may all remain on the bush” says Linda Svensson Edevint.
