BURJ KHALIFA : • TALLEST STRUCTURE.

• Under construction for six years.

• was inaugurated on 4th Jan 2010 .

• concrete tower structure(2,723 ft), Broke several records during its construction.

• the first time a tower of this height is attempted, a combination of several important technological concepts and innovative structural design methods were utilized in its construction

Features of world's tallest tower :

• Height: 2,723 ft; Number of floors: 160+

• Area of Tower: 280,000 sq.m residential and office space and a Giorgio Armani hotel

• cost US$ 1.5 billion to build.

• 2km building.

• Located near Dubai's main business district.

•  Pressurized, air-conditioned refuge floors are located about every 35 floors. These were put into the tower in case of an emergency or fire.

• A special concrete was needed because of the high pressures of the building's weight  and the hot local climate. 

Features continued..• The foundation of the building is 15 meters (49 ft) deep.

• built with 192 columns  being put into the ground.

• Took 22 million man-hours to build.

• A cathodic protection  system is used to lessen any bad effects from corrosive chemicals in local ground water. (1,988 ft)

The Dubai Fountain

– A fountain system was built outsidethe tower designed by WET Design of  California.

– The fountain cost Dh800 million (US$217 million).

– It is lit by 6,600 lights and 50 colored projectors.

– The fountain is 275ft long.

– October 2008, the fountain was named the Dubai Fountain.

Official launch ceremony :

• The opening of Burj Khalifa was held on 4 January 2010.

• ceremony featured a display of 10,000 fireworks, light beams projected on and around the tower, and further sound, light and water effects.

Moving skyscraper

• The Dynamic Tower.

• Is a planned 420-metre (1,378 ft),

• 80-floor moving skyscraper in Dubai, United Arab Emirates,

• Each floor will be able to rotate independently.• one full rotation in 90 minutes.• This will result in a constantly changing shape of the tower
