Q1. IN WHAT WAYS DOES YOUR MEDIA PRODUCT USE, DEVELOP

OR CHALLENGE FORMS AND CONVENTIONS OF REAL MEDIA

PRODUCTS?

Page 2: Magazine comparision

Comparing my magazine front cover with Blender and Billboard front cover. My magazine portrays elements of the real media product as it contains a master head at the top, sell lines surrounding the main image, barcode, product price, cover lines and a website which is conventional when making a magazine. My models pose situated on the front cover is similar to the other two magazines, this implies that this is a popular pose for a magazine of a pop genre and my model like the other two magazines show direct address towards the audience as they are staring into the camera and not looking away, the pose itself; a sideways glace gives the model a sense of immaturity. Compared with the other two magazines I have kept to the limited amount of colour rule that is portrayed on a majority of magazine front covers as I have only used 4 colours so that the cover doesn't look over crowded. However my magazine does challenge the forms and conventions of a real magazine as all text are mainly surrounding the main image while I have written on top of the main image. I also haven’t used any quotes, which could make the audience feel less involved.

CONTENTS PAGE COMPARISION

Comparing my content page with Billboard and NME you will be able to find some similarities such as my contents is full of pictures and text the same with the real contents, the contents is in it own lane so the text doesn’t get too confusing and the headings of each content is highlighted to differentiate and signify its importance, borders like on the billboard contents are usually used to separate the text from the images. My contents page also has the image of the front cover on it like it does on the NME contents. However it challenges its convention as like the Billboard and NME contents my contents doesn't have any other feature for example Billboard has No 1 on the charts and NME has a Band Index.

DOUBLE PAGE SPREAD COMPARISION My double page spread compared with a double page spread from Flavour has essentials predicate of a real magazine for example in my magazine I have used a title and the real one uses it too. Occasionally they do not use titles as the artists name is already featured on the front, the question and answers for the article interview is put into different colours to differentiate the answers and questions. Their is usually two images places on either page in order to balance out the text and images. In some way this page could challenge the conventions of a real magazine as I haven’t taken up a whole page for the image of the person being interviewed. I have kept to the conventions of a real magazine by the text surrounding the image I have included an introduction

of the interviewer talking about the artist and I have also included quotes from the artists song in the text and putting in italics the name of the song instead of using speech marks.
