The masthead shows the

recognisable title of the magazine.

This puff is used to draw the readers attention

towards an aspect of the magazine which they

would be interested in.

The footer is used to show some of the other features

included inside the magazine. Attempting to gain the readers interest

and making them want to read inside.

Barcode is used to scan products

in a shop.

Here is the magazines date line showing the date the magazine was published

for. In this case it also shows the magazine price.

Cover lines are used here in a different way to show some of the artists who

have features in this magazine. Trying to gain

the readers interest.

The main image used shows Jay-Z in a medium long shot. This is a good image to use because he is a famous musician and

also the fact that the image shows him with a guitar and a microphone

further shows the relation to music.

A header is used in this case to show the magazine is a special edition.

A cover line is used here to give extra information

about the main image and also showing the magazines

focus on Glastonbury.

The colour scheme of red and blue is used on the front

cover, along With white and black, which are the only two text

colours used.

A cover line is used here to give an indication of some

of the articles in the magazine. Trying to make the reader interested and

want to read it.

This puff is used to draw the readers attention

towards an aspect of the magazine which they

would be interested in.

The masthead shows the title of the magazine.

However because it is a recognisable name there isn’t a need to show the

whole logo and the image can overlap it.

The main image is a medium close up of Noel Gallagher.

The shot focuses on his facial expression which portrays a

look of anger. This is something associated with

Noel Gallagher and his personality.

The magazine uses a header with a picture of the artist who the header is related to (James Brown) in a

close up shot.

This imaged used which is a CD cover

shows the relation to music clearly.

The magazine uses a colour scheme of

Gold, red, white and black.

The date line is just above the barcode showing the date the magazine was

published for.

The masthead shows the title of

the magazine. The magazine uses a colour scheme of

red, black and white.

Dr.Dre is in dark bold font which stands out showing his

importance in the magazine.

Kendrick Lamar’s name is also in bold font again showing the importance of

him. Barcode is used to scan products in a

shop.

The front cover has many cover lines to show some of the

features included in the magazine.

The main image used is a two shot of Dr. Dre and Kendrick Lamar. The image shows Dr. Dre standing over Kendrick Lamar. This

may symbolise his dominance in the music industry or perhaps him looking

over Kendrick Lamar as a more experienced father like figure. Also the

clothing that Kendrick Lamar wears in the image makes it stand out to the reader as bright and eye catching colours are used.

The editors note is used to make the reader feel part of

the magazine and give an insight into the editor making

them feel more relatable. Above the editors note is a

small close up picture of the editor. This helps to make

them even more relatable to the reader

The magazine uses a contents title, a typical

convention of a magazine.

Similarly to the editors note the contributors section is

used to make the reader feel like part of the magazine and

relate to thepeople who write it.

This magazine contents page also has the month of the

magazine issue on it.

This puff is used to stand out to the

reader.

The contents page also has a list of the features in the magazine, while also giving out a bit of information about each feature to encourage

the reader to read on.

The main image on the contents page is of the band the verve. It is a medium shot with

some of the group members in the background and some in the foreground.

Possibly symbolising the importance of the groups frontman who is in the foreground of

the image. A puff is also used telling the reader what page the feature about the

Verve is on. Showing along with the fact that the main image on the page is of the

group, that the magazines main feature is about them.

Page 7: Magazine analysis Jake Wyatt

This magazine contents page has the month of the magazine issue on it.

The Main image used is a medium long shot of 50 Cent. The image used relates to the

rap/hip hop magazine it is used in as the clothing he is wearing

is urban. The fact that he is used in the main image of the magazine clearly shows that the feature about him is the

main feature in the magazine.

The contents page also has a list of the features in the magazine, while also giving out a bit of information about each feature to encourage

the reader to read on.

The page number for the feature on 50 Cent along with his name itself is in much larger font compared to the

rest of the features listed. Once again showing that the feature about

him is the most important in the magazine.

The magazine uses a red, black and white colour

scheme.

Page 8: Magazine analysis Jake Wyatt

The contents page also has a list of the features in the magazine, while also giving out a bit of information about each feature to encourage

the reader to read on.

The colour scheme of black, white and yellow is used. The colour scheme relates to the rock genre of the magazine, particularly with the use of

the colour black.

The editors note is used to make the reader feel part of

the magazine and give an insight into the editor making

them feel more relatable. Above the editors note is a

small close up picture of the editor. This helps to make

them even more relatable to the reader

Differently to the other contents pages I have seen this one uses lots of smaller images. Just like

the main image these are used to show what pages you can find the features related to the images on.

This advertisement is used to promote a subscription for the magazine. Showing

the magazine is cheaper with a subscription.

A contents page title is used with the issue

number and the date of the magazine.

The Main image used is a medium close up shot of Slash. The image used relates to the

rock magazine it is part of as he is wearing black clothes which relate to the genre. The fact that he is used in the main

image of the magazine clearly shows that the feature about him is the main feature in the

magazine.

Use of puffs to stand out to the

reader.

The magazine title Kerrang is

an onomatopoeia of a guitar string noise this shows the

relation to rock music. Kerrang is shown in a destroyed font

showing connation's with the rock genre.
