ANCIENT WISDOM JOURNEY TO MACHU PICCHU

2

This entire trip was intended for you by the Inca. Through their daily connection to Spirit, they lived their lives in the purest form. That is, one with the Creator.Through the energy and communication of Spirit, this Journey, with its sequenceof events and sites, has been presented for you, so you can experiencethe wisdom of the Inca and their incredible connection to the cosmos.

This is a Sacred Journey into the Ancient Wisdom of the Inca and all they knew, before modern life. They had no hunger. They had no poverty. They learned tomake peace with warring tribes by sharing their abundance. They are a remarkable culture and you will become part of it on this Journey.

The sites are carefully chosen and presented to you in a special order. Thereis a connecting with ancient Inca energies and spirits. A day trip through Lima,Peru connects you with the ancients along with their conquerors, as well as thereverence of history from the modern people. You connect with the energy of the area.

Once you reach Machu Picchu the sacred ceremonies are carefully craftedand sequenced for you. They are handed down for generations and led by aQ’ero Inca Shaman, a direct Inca descendent. There is a release and clearingphase, a sacred earth offering, and energetic attunements in the Moon Templeand Temple of the Sun.

Your Guides on the trip are knowledgeable in the history of the Inca. VeronicaHernandez is Peruvian, and a trained Peruvian Shaman. Several of the Guidesare bilingual, and all are skilled in metaphysics and some history of the Inca andMachu Picchu.

ANCIENT Q’ERO CEREMONIES

5

The Q’ero, the Wisdom Keepers of the Andes, are the direct descendants of the Inca. When the Spanish began to destroy the Inca civilizations, the Shamans and their families took to the higher elevations of the Andes to live. Today, their descendants, still practice the traditions of their ancestors.

We are celebrating several Q’ero ceremonies on the journey with you, with Q’ero’s of the region.

ANCIENT Q’ERO CEREMONIES

6

Despacho Ceremony

A despacho is a traditional ceremony from the high Andes of Peru, to bring us into balance and give back to Mother Earth (Pachamama) and other Spirits (organizing principles of the Universe). This beautiful Andean prayer offering that we assemble with flower petals, sweets, and other symbolic contributions into a beautiful mandala focuses our intentions for right relationship with our lives and the earth.

Munay-Ki Rites

The Munay-Ki are the nine great rites of initiation of the medicine way. The word munay means ” I love you” or “Be as thou art. The Munay-Ki are codes that transform our human energy field into that of h’omo-luminous. The rites are delivered in the form of energetic transmissions. The nine rites are given to attune the body and reform our DNA so we can live and age differently. The rites truly assist to shift human consciousness to that of being a light worker on this earth.

Earth Celebrations

This rite connects you to the lineage of archangels and guardians of our galaxy. As Earth Keepers we are the protectors of the world. The Earth Keepers are stewards of all life on earth and come under the direct protection of these archangels and can summon their power for healing and balance. This rite helps you to learn the way of the seer and dream the world into being.

Fire Ceremonies

Fire ceremony has been used from time immemorial to transform energy. Fire, is a powerful source of transformation and inspiration. In these ceremonies we call in a sacred space as we call the 7 directions and 4 elements to come in and assist in the healing and transformation of all the participants. We make a series of offerings to the spirit of the fire, to cleanse and bring in the highest possible vibration.

TRIP NOTES AND CHECKLISTS

25

Page 27: Machu Picchu Ancient Wisdom Spiritual Journey 2015

NOTES:

PRIOR TO DEPARTURE

Check with your physician, if you have any concerns, about taking a journey to Mach Picchu. Both Machu Picchu and Cuzco are high altitude sites. While there is no extensive hiking on this journey, there are stone steps the Inca built to negotiate their city in the clouds. There is a lot of activity and walking up and down the steps at high altitude.

You are responsible for checking your health status to make this journey. While our Guides are certified in Red Cross CPR and First Aid, you are responsible for being in moderate to good health.

We recommend you consider trip cancellation and medical coverage insurance for the journey. You can send mail and post cards out from the top Machu Picchu so bring ad-dresses of friends and family with you.

Additionally:o Make sure you have a valid passport.o From the U.S. there is no Visa requirement to enter Peru.o You are responsible for your food and shopping items you wish to purchase. While we take meals as a group, you will purchase your own food, water, drinks and snacks. The myriad of food choices in Peru is vast as are the prices, so there is much to accommodate all tastes and budgets.

26

Page 28: Machu Picchu Ancient Wisdom Spiritual Journey 2015

ESSENTIAL ITEMS FOR THIS TRIP

ADDITONAL NOTES

The journey prices DO NOT include airfare to and from Peru. The prices do include all in-country transportation, lodging, guides, ceremonies and entrance fees. We’ve done all we can to not surprise you with any hidden costs.

NOTE: However transportation and lodging prices have at times gone up sud-denly and radically. Hopefully this trend in Peru has settled down; but even if your ‘full payment’ has been received you may need pay for extra costs at any time prices go up. If that is a problem perhaps we can make some less expen-sive arrangements.

Transportation times can be quite changeable also. So our itineraries may sud-denly change to keep up with their whims.

Most hotels provide a light breakfast. Apart from this no meals are included.

Single rooms may be available elsewhere at an extra cost.

WEATHER: 50% chance of anything, anytime. Be prepared, weather or not.

In the Andes expect cool to cold nights, many perfect sunny days, rain is possi-ble at anytime. Temperatures may go up to the 80’s F and down to the 20’s F (20’s C to -5C). Usually June through August is colder, the Southern hemisphere winter. 20’s F (-5C) are possible at night but most days are pleasant, sunny and dry.

All other months are warmer, but with a higher chance of rain. Anytime the clouds block the sun it gets quickly chilly in the high altitudes we are in. Simply always be prepared for hot, cold or wet. We will be outside a lot. It is far bet-ter to have too much protective clothing with you than too little.

27

Page 29: Machu Picchu Ancient Wisdom Spiritual Journey 2015

28

PACKING & LUGGAGE

Light is right. We suggest that you carry as few clothes and things as you are comfortable with. As we move from the planes, trains, and vans to our hotels, there are some times when we must walk a few hundred meters/yards while carrying your luggage. If you really can’t or don’t want to handle your own gear, and you want to bring a lot, we can usually find a native on the spot who would gladly carry your stuff for a small payment.

The train to Machu Picchu allows only an airline sized carry on bag. The rest of your bags we will store in the village and hotel you will stay at after Machu Picchu. We will have time to separate your bags before boarding the train.

You’ll want to be able to lock your suitcase or a backpack during South Ameri-can air travel (they by law must not be locked during North American air trav-el). And rather than always carrying everything around with you it is safer to leave the bulk of your valuables locked in your pack or bag in your hotel room. Small combination locks are the most convenient. The little locks that use keys are often way too easy to pick open.

CLOTHINGYour everyday cotton clothes are fine, you don’t need to go out and buy expe-dition clothes for these journeys, but you can if you want to it’s really not neces-sary. Loose clothing is best for traveling.

Coat: Shelter from the storm, wind and rain shell over a sweater is the best. If you chill easy by all means bring a warm coat. A large rain poncho works well if you don’t otherwise have a waterproof jacket.

Sweaters: Come to Peru to buy sweaters. As little as $10-20 will buy you a fine alpaca hand-loomed treasure. While you are at it you may as well buy a bunch of sweaters to take home as gifts.

Hat: The high altitudes and equator sun can fry you. Do not rely on sun block. The best protection is simply long sleeves and pants in light material and a full-brimmed hat. It is convenient to carry a hat that can crush into your pack. Many styles of hats are available upon arrival in Peru.

Page 30: Machu Picchu Ancient Wisdom Spiritual Journey 2015

Laundry: Most towns and our hotels have laundry service. If you have two chang-es of clothes, you can wear one while the other gets cleaned. Actually, you can also do this by hand.

Boots: Heavy clunker hiking boots are NOT necessary. Low-top boots or shoes are good enough for climbing around the ruins, mountains, and for rainy or cold nights. Be sure to have good traction soles if this is something you have become dependent upon. For easy cruise comfort you can also bring some sneakers or sandals.

Toiletries: Hauling around huge bottles of shampoo and creams can create a major bulk in your luggage. Small plastic bottles are sold in many sizes at sporting goods and most drug stores. You can carry only what is needed for two weeks. Toiletries and medicines are available in the towns. Don’t worry about running out.

Earplugs: One of the things developing nations develop is noise. Loud disco-thèques, televisions and barking dogs now echo through the city nights. Snoring roommates may also add to your audio experience. Light sleepers will do well to carry earplugs.

Flashlight: You’ll need a flashlight and spare batteries. There is no electricity at many of the places we visit. The small but powerful lights using only AA or AAA batteries are easy to carry around. You don’t need to carry anything larger. Lights using LED bulbs are the best.

ELECTRICITY in South America is 220v.

WATER The lodge provides good drinking water while we are there. For those traveling to Machu Picchu the Andean water is mountain fresh and alive. To secure this excellent water against bacteria it is best to carry a small hand pump filter. Please don’t plan on buying plastic throwaway bottles to trash the land every day and the water quality in plastic bottles there cannot always be guaranteed. Purifica-tion drops will work also but can get hard on your digestion after a while.

MEALS Most hotels provide a light breakfast.

29

Page 31: Machu Picchu Ancient Wisdom Spiritual Journey 2015

Apart from this no meals are provided. By your choices this can work out to be much less expensive for you overall. In the restaurants we frequent the average price per-meal runs $6- $12, perhaps more in some popular places. $15 a day is a good estimate for your restaurant and market bought food needs. It may be made much less or more expensive by your choices.

Much of the food is naturally organic, grown by a culture that has long re-spected the earth. However the Andean/Amazon culture is not traditionally vegetarian.

THE MOST IMPORTANT PAPERS Peru, in the habit of cheap construction, uses small pipes in their plumbing. Thus the toilets are unable to handle the massive wads of paper some people throw into them. ALL PAPERS, including used bum wad, goes into the waste bins by the toilets.

MONEY $$ For those who don’t want to carry cash, American Express traveler’s checks are the most acceptable for exchange, any other form of check can be trou-blesome. The exchange rate on traveler’s checks will be a few points lower. If carrying cash be careful not to bring any torn bills, with even the slightest tear your money will be refused. Best is to bring newer bills. The Peruvians will check carefully for counterfeit bills, you will want to be sure for yourself beforehand also. After more than a few dire travel experiences I’ve learned to always keep a few hundred worth of $20 bills in cash stashed against emergencies.

Attention Travel-Mart Shoppers Beautiful handicrafts are being offered at amazing 3rd world prices. Have plenty of spending cash at hand. The majority of shops will not accept credit cards.

CREDIT CARDS Cash can be drawn at some banks and ATM’s, mostly with VISA cards and the PLUS system. If you plan on carrying credit cards make a note of their num-bers and the telephone numbers to call if lost while out of country. Often North American 1-800 numbers will not work from South America.

30

Page 32: Machu Picchu Ancient Wisdom Spiritual Journey 2015

PASSPORT AND VISAS Yes, a passport is needed. In addition to your passport, bring two photocopies of your passport picture page. This is easier and safer to carry around. When in Peru, keep your passport in a pouch inside your clothes. When just wandering around, town muggings and pocket slashing can happen. The bulk of your money, your passport and air tickets are much safer locked in your bag and left in your room.

Visitor’s Visa Your visitor’s visa will be issued at the Lima airport. They are happy to see you and your spending money and have made the visa process very easy. You do not need to do this beforehand. Be sure to keep the visa safe in your passport, as you will need to turn it in when you leave the country.

PRICES AND PAYMENTSThe journey prices DO NOT include airfare to and from Peru. The prices do in-clude all in-country transportation, lodging, guides, ceremonies and entrance fees.Chances of change: Land costs, airfares, itineraries, reality in general, and all things are universally subject to change, especially in South America

CANCELLATIONSWe will do what we can NOT to charge you if you need to cancel. But if your in-country air tickets have been purchased or any other expenses will be deducted.

AIR ARRANGEMENTSWe don’t handle arranging your flights to South America, use a local travel agent or the internet to find what is best for your needs. Watch out! Many airlines ar-rive in or leave Lima just after midnight, which can create quite a muddle of the dates shown on your airline tickets. Please check with your group organizer or call us if you are in any doubt!

Arrivals will normally be flying to Peru on the first day of your itinerary calendar; that is the night your hotel in Lima is reserved. If the flight arrives after midnight, your ticket states arrival on the following date, and that’s all right.

31

Page 33: Machu Picchu Ancient Wisdom Spiritual Journey 2015

When leaving Peru you will be back in the Lima airport usually by 17:00 (5pm) the evening on the last day on your itinerary calendar. If your flight leaves after midnight your ticket must be dated for the following day. If your flight leaves in the morning or in the afternoon before 5pm you will need an extra night in Lima at your extra cost.

TRAVEL ACCIDENT INSURANCEWe recommend you buy your own travel insurance for this trip.Although generally no shots are required, some are suggested by health boards.

IMPORTANT ECO-TRAVEL INFORMATION:Air PollutionUntil Peruvian transportation technologies catch up with our need for new geo-friendly fuels and propulsion, our plane, train and road travel currently add huge amounts of CO2 to the atmosphere.

INFORMATION YOU NEED TO SEND TO US: Send us your passport number and country of issue AS SOON AS YOU DECIDE YOU ARE GOING and again, the sooner the better. Without it we can’t reserve your trains, planes and buses. If you don’t have a passport get started on it, the process may take six weeks, although you may pay extra and get a passport rushed. We need ONLY your FIRST and LAST NAMES as shown on passport. Do not send us your middle names or add on last names, as they only confuse things when we reserve your airline and train tickets.

Provide us with your FLIGHT INFORMATION as soon as possible.• Dates and times of arrival in Lima and departure from Peru.• Carrier name.• Flight numbers.• Where your flight arriving in Lima is from, i.e. L.A., Dallas, Miami or Santiago, Chile, etc. This may not be where you started from but it is the last of your flights that arrive in Lima.
