It reminds us that even when we feel down or wonder what God has in store for our lives; He is always with us & within us. We do not need to fear anything or situation that comes our way because we are filled with God’s promise, The Holy Spirit! We can go on without fear knowing that God will guide us, protect us & provide everything that we need! ~ Pastor Jody MITCHELL ~ YANCEY PARISH What a beautiful, spirit - filled Fifth Sunday Service we had in May! We were blessed with Martha & her Daughter’s & Lawrence sharing their musical gifts. To begin, we had a beautiful Baptism, what better way to begin worship than to have a Baptism! We had a wonderful time of music, sharing, food & fellowship. What a glorious way to spend a beautiful Sunday in May! The next Fifth Sunday Service to be held will be in October.

A note from the Pastor:

“6 Therefore I remind you to stir up the gift of God which is in you through the laying on of my hands. 7 For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind.” ~ 2 Tim. 1: 6 - 7

This is one of my favorite passages of Scripture.

On April 30, 2011, Bakersville UMC participated in two Operation Inasmuch projects:  (1).  Yard cleaning, shower repair, and deck rail repair; and, (2). A house cleaning project.  In addition, our church contributed funds to cover the cost of this work.  These were two of the 32 projects completed during the one-day Mitchell County mission.  This effort involved 111 volunteers and a total of 887 person hours worked.  Thanks to all of you who participated with your time and talents and /or your money.Operation Inasmuch is a year-round, ongoing mission to help those in need in accordance with the teachings of our Savior, Jesus Christ.  As of this date, there are 19 more projects on the Mitchell County list.  Most of them are extensive and expensive and will be addressed this summer by mission groups coming to this area from across the country.   If you would like to participate, contact Lawrence Stockton or Ernie Jahnke."

the kitchen or in the basement - I'm always asking myself,'Now, what am I here after?'" ~ Thank you Trish S. for the submission...
