General remarks

• Adressing relevant themes as well as exchanging information similar to COST 529 #1

• Determination to se-up joint projects (esp. on relevant themes, see presentation S. Mucklejohn)

• Stay away from trying to influence standardisation in to avoid conflicts with ELMAPS, ELC etc.

• Aim for pre-competitive research topics in order to involve industry(they won’t share information if it is competitive)

Possible technical subject areas (extendable….)

• HID electrode modelling and diagnostics- anode model- modelling and measurement of emitter effects

• Acoustical resonances and other types of instabilities in metal halide lamps

• Lifetime prediction in FL lamps (esp. in dimming operation)

• Microwave- and inductive coupled lamps aiming at efficacy breakthrough in HID lamps while retaining white light.
