Where did you first meet Mark? Where did he propose?

I first met Mark in one of our local pubs, he wasactually one of my brothers friends. We had beentogether for nearly 10 years when he finallyproposed on my 34th birthday. He left earlier

than usual for work on the day and when Iopened his birthday card it said ‘Happy Birthdayto my Wife’. I was puzzled until I opened it andinside Mark had written ‘It is about time that youwere my wife, will you please marry me?’ I ranghim and said yes!

This summer, when Stephanie & Mark Jones tied the knot in Saddleworth, it was a truly enchanting day, with boho and butterflies abound. Little White Books were delighted when Steph agreed to share her beautifulwedding day with us!

A day to remember

How easy was it for you to find your perfect dress? Where you did buy it from, and why did you fall in love with it? I looked around a few shops but could not findanything that blew me away, but I had alreadydecided that I wanted an Ian Stuart dress and somy mum searched online and discovered a bridalshop in Sheffield called Blissful Dazes were holdinga special Ian Stuart event where you could viewhis full collection (Revolution Rocks). We madean appointment and I fell in love with my dress assoon as I tried it on. The ladies from Blissful Dazeswere so nice that I decided there and then toorder my dream dress from them. I loved thedress as it was very fitted and had loads of detailaround the front of it including metallic lace andpale coloured roses, I loved that the dress was alittle unusual. I hope everyone else loved it, too!

Did you look at many venues? What made you choose The White Hart?I’ll be honest with regards to choosing my venue, I did not look around as I had decided years agothat if I was to ever get married that I would wantmy reception in the Oak room at the White Hartas it is so beautiful and it is local and easy for allmy family and guests to get to.

What were your themes and specific ideas for the day? My colour scheme was pale grey and the themewas vintage with lots of butterflies and flowers. Our 2 young sons brought our rings to us inchurch attached to teddy bears and baskets offresh rose petals for our guests to throw.

How did you find your perfect suppliers?Did you visit any wedding fairs?

We attended a wedding fair at the White Hartorganised by Little White Books and it is from thisfair that I sourced my DJ, Fran Ward who ismarvellous, my stationery, which was by Jill fromJust For You Invitations, and also met Mat fromRed Floral Architecture. Mat recommended Mick Cookson to be our photographer and Tomfrom Silk Videos who we also used on our big day.Lisa from Diva Designer Cakes in Mossley createdour cake which was out of this world.

Which supplier went the extra mile for you on the day? And how?

I cannot praise Lisa from Diva Designer Cakesenough - she helped to make my day amazingwith her fabulous cake, also Mat and his teammade the venue look magical and I would neverrecommend anyone else other than him. Mick Cookson and Tom made everyone feelrelaxed. To be honest I cannot thank everyoneinvolved enough as my day was perfect and aside from the weather nothing went wrong.

When you think back to your day now, whichspecific events really stick in your mind?

The atmosphere on the day was truly magical, wecould not have asked for more. Every part of theday will stay with me forever, from getting readyat the White Hart in the morning, seeing my dadcry, seeing the faces of all my beautiful family andfriends as we walked into church, the vicar droppingour wedding rings, our first dance, my dance with

“Every part of theday will stay withme forever...”

my dad to one of the most beautiful songs in theworld at breakfast the following morning.

What was yours & Mark’s song?

Our first dance was to Adele, Make you feel my love.

If you could offer any piece of advice toevery bride-to-be, what would it be?

The only advice I would give would be to staycalm, relax and enjoy because the day goes so fast you feel like you missed most of it, I wanted it to go on for another 24 hours!

Thanks for sharing your day with us Steph,it all sounds absolutely amazing. Do youwant to give anyone a special mention?

Mat’s flowers and room dressing surpassed all our expectations. www.redfloral.co.uk (p51 & 83)

Lisa’s cake was simply amazing.www.divacakes.co.uk

Jill’s invites and stationery were absolutely beautiful,I have never seen stationery like it anywhere before.www.justforyouinvitations.co.uk (p79)

Mick was calm and relaxed which is just what we needed. www.mickcookson.com

Tom was also calm and relaxed and we hardlynoticed him! www.silkweddingvideos.co.uk

The staff at the White Hart could not do enough for us, especially Stefan the manager and the chef for the fabulous foodwww.thewhitehart.co.uk (p4-5 & 84)

The Vicar was relaxed and funny and made ourservice very personal and special.

I would also like to thank my mum and dad whofooted the bill and made sure that I had everythingI could have dreamt for on our special day, withoutthem none of this would have been possible.

Oh, and Franny the DJ who is just simply great!www.frannyward.co.uk (p40)

Little White Books asked some of our bridal wearadvertisers to tell us what their brides have beenlooking for in 2012.

Alyson, from The Bridal Room St Helens, says“After many years of the ‘strapless’ gown, thereseems to be a modern twist for 2012 with theaddition of translucent or lace fabrics to addstraps or raise the neckline. A great example isFelicia (pictured below) by Amanda Wyatt.”

Debbie, from Glamour Bridal in Bolton, says“Vintage is a firm favourite with designers, encompassing different eras from Victorian to Art deco. Lace sleeves and lace covered bodiceshave been prevalent on the catwalks inspired by the Sarah Burton creation for the Duchess of Cambridge, at last year’s Royal Wedding. Our Charlotte Balbier gowns are proving to be a firm favourite for brides with the new ‘CandyKisses’ range a perfect addition to the previoussignature collections.”

2012 is truly the year for romantic elegance. Since the Royal Wedding lastyear many designers have been influenced by Kate’s exquisitely beautifulivory lace applique wedding gown, designed by Sarah Burton for AlexanderMcQueen. The neckline is flattering and feminine, and the lace adds classic elegance to the dress.

Laura, from Belle Bridal Boutique in Ramsbottom, adds “I expect 2012 to see a huge overhaul inthe necklines of bridal gowns. Since Kate wore astunning lace high necked gown earlier last yearthe catwalks have embraced a dynamic u-turnaway from the strapless designs we have seenfor so long. Gone are the days when ‘sweetheart’was the most flamboyant choice, now we areenticed with much more. Choose from ‘illusion’necklines with delicate, sheer fabrics, wide strapsand deep v-backs, lace capped sleeves andeverything in between.

I am of the opinion that getting your dress cleaned assoon as possible after your wedding is really important, whether you are looking to keep your dress - to possiblypass down - or just to preserve it for all the wonderfulmemories it will evoke, or, if you are going to sell it on.

• Never store your gorgeous gown in a plastic cover for any length of time as this can cause mildew.Untreated stains can ‘set’ into the fabric and maycause permanent marking. Some invisible marks, simple drink spills, particularly sugary drinks, willprogressively darken and oxidize with time becomingdifficult or in some cases impossible to remove.

• Unfortunately the weather on your wedding daycannot be planned. Whilst having photos taken on grass, tarmac or whatever, the underside of yourdress may be marked. Small pieces of grass pollenmay attach itself to your dress which if untreatedcould germinate.

• Always get your gown cleaned professionally as soon as possible. I recommend Sally atwww.gownclean.homestead.com. Sally offers anexcellent service. Collection of gown is included in the cleaning price.

• Once your dress is cleaned, you can then decide how to store it or sell it if you wish.

• Your dress needs to be stored away from light, dustand fluctuations in temperatures. Long exposure tosunlight or bright light can bleach your dress anddiscolour any beadwork. Never store in the attic orloft as this is the area with the highest fluctuations in temperature.

• There are a lot of bridal storage boxes around at themoment, some better than others. It is essential thatthe size of box is correct for the volume of your dress. You can select a cleaning package which can includeappropriate size box for your dress. All boxes shouldcome with enough acid free tissue paper to protectyour dress by keeping it in a pH neutral and safeenvironment. The good wedding dress boxes are safe,acid- and alkali-free which will protect your gown foryears to come.

• If you decide to resell your dress then cleaning yourdress can positively affect the price (and you canalways tag cleaning cost on to the selling price).

Finally may I take this opportunity to congratulate all future and existing brides and wish you all every happiness.

You have just experienced the mostmemorable day in your life. The dress you so lovingly chose for your special daystunned your guests, but how do youcare for it after your wedding.

It’s well worth spending the time considering atruly bespoke, original style of ring. Designed byyou and created by us? You may be pleasantlysurprised at how affordable this can be.

In recent times, one of the best savings acouple can make planning their Wedding day is to order their rings sooner rather than later.

Many of our commissions are now being takensoon after setting the wedding date. Thus you fixthe price with a deposit early on, allowing timefor you to design your rings and for us to createyour rings.

Most commercially made Jewellery often comesfrom overseas, passing through several handsbefore reaching you, which means it gathers afinancial mark up all along the way.

All our wedding bands are made to order, finishedto exacting standards, and are not commerciallyproduced. The personal and individual design allcomes as part of the service, exclusive to you, sold directly to you and is a great opportunity tosupport highly skilled UK craftsmanship.

Therefore, a bespoke ring by Sparkle Designermay be actually be better value for money.

Did You Know

The ladies’ most popular choice of preciousmetal is still Platinum.

Palladium, part of the Platinum family, islighter and costs less than Platinum and is anincreasingly popular choice for the gents.

Gold: Traditionally, wedding rings aremade from Gold. For those wholove white gold choose thewhitest and best 18ctWhite Gold which is a Gold and Palladiumalloy. It costs a fractionmore but creates amuch whiter metal than the cheaper strawwhite gold and silver alloys - plus you save in the long term by not needing it to beRhodium plated.

Gifts: Gent’s often choose to have Cufflinksthat complement the design aspects of their ring. Ladies are often gifted a pendant or other adornment for on the day.

Engagement Rings and Wedding Rings shouldbe designed to last lifetimes, and should notbe hollowed out on the underside where dirtcan gather and start irritations.

A Diamond’s or Gem’s beauty is determinedfirstly by its cut, then size, colour andimperfections. Well cut with good colourdiamonds always capture the eye.

When having abespoke design alwaystalk to a Goldsmith, not a sales person.Utilising the latestCAD software he canreduce the extensivehours sometimesneeded to produce your commission, andpresent you with a life-like render of yourCommission before it is created.

You have so much to consider andbudget for when planning your

big day. Do give your rings a good deal of thought whenchoosing them and make sureyou make a wise investment.

When should we buy our rings?

Start looking at designs at least six months beforeyour wedding. This will allow you to shop aroundfor exactly what you want. Ensure that you takedelivery a minimum of one month before yourwedding date.

What is the difference between white gold and platinum?White Gold is made of Yellow Gold alloyed withwhite metals which is then rhodium plated to giveit the high white lustre of Platinum. Platinum is a naturally white metal and is the rarest of theprecious metals. Platinum’s unequalled durabilityand resistance to wear makes it the most secureand protective metal, which means your rings will be protected for a lifetime of wear.

What is Palladium?Palladium is a pure white metal which is part ofthe platinum family of metals. It has greatdurability. However, it weighs less than Platinum.

This results in a ring in Palladium costing as muchas 50% less than the same style in Platinum.

Platinum is still the most popular metal for ladiesrings. For gents, Palladium has becomeincreasingly popular as a great money savingalternative to Platinum.

How do I ensure I get value for money?Ask for the width, depth and weight of the bandsyou are looking at and the origin of manufacture. If the ring is set with diamonds ask for the qualityand weight of stones. This information should bereadily available and will help you make qualityand price comparisons.

Can my Wedding Ring be shaped to fit my engagement ring? You can buy weddings rings that are already shaped to fitaround your engagement ring. If you want a perfectly designedand contoured finish, thenconsider designing your ownbespoke wedding ring.

Thanks to Sym Wedding Rings for sharing their invaluable advice with Little White Books!

Rewind - you both looked amazing, and your big day went too quickly. Your dress isnow in the attic and the groom’s suit returned to the hire shop. The cake was gorgeousand eaten in a flash. The honeymoon was fantastic but feels like a distant memory. So what are you left with? Your Rings...

1. Are you available? This is the first question you should ask really as many cakedesigners are booked up many months in advance. If you hearof, or see, a great cake maker that you are interested in, bookearly as they may need 18 months/2 years notice especially ifthe wedding is in the summer.

2. How much can I expect to spend if I buy my cake from you? Some cake makers work from a designated set of designs, andthey will be more likely to give you a clear price straight off, based on the number of portions and tiers you are looking for.If you want a bespoke cake, you are more likely to get a widerestimate until after having a consultation with them. At thatpoint they will confirm a price with you.

If you are booking more than 12 months in advance, checkwhether the price quoted is the one you will pay, or whetherthere is a clause to allow an uplift.

3. Where and when can we see you?

Some cake designers have their own shops, but many workfrom home. Ask to see them as early as possible in yourwedding planning process, and at a time to suit you if youneed an evening or weekend appointment.

4. Are you able to let us see and tasteexamples of your work?

Portfolios of work are great to look at and give you an idea of the designs and types of cakes each designer makes. Most designers have their portfolio on their own website, orFacebook page. It may also be that they have some ‘dummy’cakes for you to see, either at a wedding fair or their premises. However, it is always better to see designs first hand, then you can check their attention to detail and level of skill. It is at this meeting that you would most likely be able tosample different cake. I personally do not charge for thisservice, but I am aware that some do (although they maydeduct it from the final bill if you make a booking.)

5. Are you able to make an example of workeg: specific flower to match the bouquet

Many will be more than happy to make a sample ofsomething for you to see. It may be that they want acommitment from you in the form of a signed agreement or deposit before doing so.

6. Can we have different flavours/or cater for special dietary needs, etc

If you want something that is a ‘special requirement’ you need to ask whether they can be accommodated. As a cake

We all know how important your wedding cake is - elegantly designed, exquisitely iced -

extremely delicious! Little White Books asked Vicki at The Cake Whisk to tell us the

designer, I am often asked to do something different eg:include a rich fruit tier that Grandma has made. It is mucheasier to be asked at the outset so that it can be incorporatedinto the overall design.

7. Do we need to pay a deposit, how much and when?

This helps you with your budget planning. A deposit willusually be required up front when you accept the contract. It may be either a fixed, stated price, or a percentage of thefinal cost. This should then secure your date.

8. We are booking our cake in advance, will we be able to make any changes?

You may not know your final numbers, or have chosen yourcolours or flowers at the point of agreeing your contract, sothese will need to be finalised nearer to your big day, usually6-8 weeks before and provision is usually made for that. But, if the cake is significantly different to the original order, you may need to be re-quoted. If it is something that has

already been made, it may be more difficult to change it, and you may be charged.

9. Are there any additional costs?

You have a wedding budget to manage and don’t want anynasty surprises! Your cake designer should be completelytransparent about any additional costs that may be charged(such as purchasing or hiring a stand specifically for you) andshould not incur them without your say-so. Always check any written contract or terms and conditions really carefully.

10. Do you deliver and set up?

I LOVE delivering and setting-up at the venue and don’tcharge for this service. Cake Designers will work with yourVenue or Wedding Co-ordinators to make sure everything iswhere it should be on the big day. You need to know how your cake is going to get there! Others may charge for settingup, and/or delivery - check first.

Have a great Wedding!

1. Be flexible. Maybe your budget won’t stretch to a 10-tier replica of the Royal Wedding cake, so why not have a a scaled down version. A small 3-tiered cake to feed around 45 will still lookspecial without breaking the bank.

2. If your budget will only stretch to a smaller cake, but you want to give each guest a piece, a kitchencake is a great solution. This is a plainly iced cake, that is cut up in the kitchen and handed outalongside your main cake. Your guests will neverknow and kitchen cakes are usually less than halfthe price of a fully decorated cake.

3. Handmade sugar flowers, and handmade topperscan all add to the price of a cake. If your budget istight it’s worth considering using artificial flowers

to achieve a similar look at a fraction of the price. A handmade sugar rose will cost you at least £6.

4. Consider having your cake all, or partly made, ofsponge cake. Sponge cake tiers are usually cheaperthan fruitcake, and many couples prefer the taste.

5. If you want a large cake, but only need to feed a few guests you could consider incorporating some dummy tiers. Dummy tiers are basicallypolystyrene blocks that can be decorated withicing in the same way a cake is, and can work out£10-£20 cheaper for tiers 10” or bigger.

6. Shop around. Each cake designer will have theirown style and pricing structure. Use the internet to browse websites, most will have a page with a basic price guide and all should have a gallery.

For 2012 strong colours are popular - dark purple, charcoal grey, midnight blue, but then also more nude and dusky colours at the other end of the scale.

Our miniatures continue to be popular for bothvintage and more modern themes, but we’re also seeing orders for more traditionally shapedand tiered cakes too, quite often with a very simple design, but with a move towards piped pattern detailing.

Each bride we see has their own individual take on a style that fits with their celebration, and we’re always pleased to work with their ideas and come up with something that works for them - in terms of bothdesign and budget.

LWB: Congratulations on becoming Winners of the2011 ‘Ice The Cake’ Wedding Supplier Awards - Most Credible & IncredibleWedding Supplier, and MostProfessional Wedding Supplier. You must be really proud!

Natalie: This was the first time we have entered these awards. I was so nervous on the day! When theyread out our name as winners it was so emotional, more so because all our brides had voted for us. We are so passionate about what we do, we makefirm friends with our brides, so these awards meantthe world to us.

LWB: Why Crystal Bouquets rather than fresh orartificial flowers?

Natalie: We believe that in choosing crystalbouquets you are buying something much more

special and unique to you. Our bouquets last foreverso they can be passed down through generations andcan also contain items that hold a special meaning tothe family and the bride.

LWB: How long does it take you to make your bouquets?

Natalie: We spend weeks wiring everythingindividually and months collecting the perfect itemsfor the bouquets, creating these bouquets cannot berushed but believe me - they are well worth the wait.

LWB: What materials do you use?

Natalie: All our bouquets are made with crystals, pearls, fresh water pearls and trinkets, brooches, etc.We believe in using only the best materials to createthese stunning works of art.

2011 has been an awesome year for LOVEBouquets. With a growing number ofaccolades and award nominationsculminating in winning not one but twocoveted awards, the team of daughter-in-lawNatalie and mother-in-law Sheila arebeginning to become very sought after! LWB: How do you discuss ideas with your brides?

Natalie: When you order through us we can spendmonths (and in some cases years) chatting to bridesand perfecting their designs, we love nothing morethan making all their design dreams come true. If this is a bouquet you are keeping forever it cannotbe anything less than perfect.

LWB: How can a bride commission you?

Natalie: We can be contacted through our websiteor email: [email protected] to enquire andchat about designs. We have designed so manybouquets to suit so many different themes thatanything is possible.

LWB: Can we buy your bouquets online?

Natalie: Our bouquets are sometimes for sale onlinefrom our website. These are usually one-off designscreated for shows or photo-shoots so this is the bestway to grab a design that is exclusive and one that wewill never re-create.

LWB: Do you sell through agents, or etsy, etc?

Natalie: At the moment we don’t sell through shopsas there is a one year waiting list to commission oneof our creations.

LWB: Why do you love your work at LOVE Bouquets?

Natalie: We couldn’t really ask for a better job, weget to make so many brides happy and create somefantastic, amazing designs. Plus who wouldn’t loveplaying with sparkly crystals all day.

This spring bouquetwas created for a bridegetting married in 2012,she let me take controlover the design onlytelling me the coloursshe wanted whichresulted in a bouquetthat we love and sodoes the bride. It’s a

wonderful design using high quality real touchflowers in a mix of spring colours and addingSwarovski beads to create little drops of sparkle.

Created for a shootto mark the royalwedding, it was thenused in many shootsfor the royal weddingand proved to be avery popular design.Just shows that anybouquet no matterwhat the design or colours can lookamazing.

We designed and made this bouquet for a veryspecial lady who was raising money for Macmillanby doing a naked calendar shoot. Twelve of ourdesigns were used but Sarah who was fightingcancer at the time had this special design just forher. We donated the bouquet after the shoot tooraffle off for Macmillan and it raised £1000 SadlySarah lost her fight but we will carry on helpingher family raise money each year in her memory.

The colour of your flowers can set the scene for the day. Whether you want it to be a reflection of romance by using delicate tones, or a vastcelebration of colour by using bright and vividcolours. Flowers can be very personal and addspecial meaning. Think about what is important to you. If you have a particular type of flower, orscent that you love, try and incorporate that intoyour bouquet and table displays.

It is important to choose the right flowers for yourwedding day by working with your floral designer. Some flowers are only available at certain times ofthe year, so discuss your requirements with yourflorist early. You should have an initial meeting 6-8 months before the big day so that you candiscuss availability of seasonal flowers, and book the florist for the day. Florists get very busy duringthe summer months, so it is important to get the date booked with the florist so that you are not disappointed. Local florists usually have anassociation with many of the top wedding venuesin your area, and have the best ideas on how tomake the most of the venue. Finding a florist shouldnot be a challenge for any bride these days, youcan visit various websites and wedding fairs toenable you to get the look and feel you want.

The big trend for weddings in 2012 will have a royalinfluence following the wedding of William and Katelast year. Delicate lace and flowers will be seenacross the country as people replicate Kate in herbeautiful Sarah Burton designed gown, and delicatebouquet of lily of the valley and hyacinth flowers.

Weddings should take on a romantic and nostalgicfeel with an influence of old world glamour. Vintage designs and colours are a must have thisseason, everything from the dress to table displays.Gold, aqua, dove grey and classic white will be thecolours of choice for this seasons bride. French Lacewill be the must have accessory, giving that beautifulromantic finishing touch. Vintage jewellery will beused within bridal party bouquets to add sparkle anddouble up as a thank you present and keepsake forbridemaids. Floral headresses will be making acomeback, completing the nostalgic feel, but this timearound they will be adjoined with jewels or pearls.

If the romantic feel is not for you, try oranges, yellows, purples, green, dark blues and bright pinksfor that vibrant feel. Whatever your preference, there is a flower available for you, its just a matter of finding the right florist to deliver.

Moss Cottage Flowers

No wedding would be complete without a beautiful array of fresh flowers tocompliment the bridal gown and decorate the wedding ceremony and receptionvenue. Flowers can transform a room into a floral wonderland, providing a visualand scented explosion of colour and fragrance.

Sure, your budget is a high priority, however, your photographs must capture all yourmemories. When you receive your images, lookat them through tears of joy and not throughtears of disappointment. In our feature, each ofour photographers share a favourite weddingimage with you and tell you why this onepicture tells a story.

Choosing your photographer is one of the most important choices you have to make. When choosing your photographer, take a good look through theirportfolio, utilise the web and check their blogs, websites and even social media pages. Recommendations are also really useful.

One picturetells a story

Jenny, Jenny Martin PhotographyAdmittedly, this is not my best technical photo, but I love the fact that it demonstrates brilliantlyhow group shots can be exciting and natural.Yes this is a traditional group set up, but itshows the fun the guests had with their shoot, what with the hats, the giggles and the sunshine. This photo sums up the attitude of the bride, the groom and their guests once the nerveracking ceremony was over. A great inspirationfor couples everywhere!

Lucie and Nick are so in love, they met just under a year before at a friend’s wedding. Nick is training to be a vicar; it was a beautiful, touching and personal ceremony as it wasperformed by his boss. They are such a fun lovingadventurous couple.

Originally a family friend was going to photographthis Autumn wedding at the Old Mill, Ramsbottom. However, the groom decided, that so that his friendcould relax and enjoy the wedding, he would use aprofessional photographer.

The day was described by the bride as all the coloursof the rainbow. It certainly was a creative, fun daywith a colourful, cocktail theme. The photographshave certainly captured the love and enjoyment thattell the story of the day for years to come.

Lindsay at Lindsay Ashton PhotographyThis is one of my favourite pictures from this year’s weddings as I can feel the nervous anticipation of thebride and groom as the vicar conducts the marriage service - it always makes me wonder what they areactually thinking at this point.

What made Carmel & Nick’swedding so special was theinteraction between the families ofthe bride and groom. I love that inthis photograph, the two ladies tothe left of the bride - the mother ofthe bride and the mother of thegroom - are excitedly and happilyholding hands, so pleased for theirson and daughter. It’s a lovelymoment. Balancing the image, onthe right of the groom there arethree close friends of the couplelaughing at a photo they’ve justtaken. Lastly, we have the bride andgroom dancing together, the groomlooking deep into the bride’s eyes...

Dave McNabb, DMC Photographic

For me, wedding photography is about capturing those intimateand fleeting moments that show the bringing together of twopeople and their families in a day of joy and celebration. My aim isto preserve those moments in a single photograph and ultimately ina stunning and varied collection of photographs. This shot is justsuch a moment, with everyone enjoying the wisecracks of the Best Man speech.

Despite today’s sophisticated ‘do it all for you’cameras it is the experience of a professionalphotographer that will see the special momentsof love and emotion at your wedding. Thesemoments often happen in the most unexpectedplaces, in the worst light and they can be over in seconds.

Will, WF PhotoSome of the best moments in lifecannot be predicted, but if youcreate an environment andatmosphere which is positive andenjoyable, happiness will flourish. As a photographer I think everyperson and couple has their ownunique personality, and its byobserving the natural way they hold themselves that I find the best shots can be captured.

I understand only too well just how much of a privilege it is tophotograph someone’s mostspecial and intimate day of theirlives. The best day of my life so far was my own wedding day although I am now looking forward to seeing the birth of mybaby girl in a few months time.

Beautiful youMost women don’t feel happy about their body, butGaynor Wilson, Photographer at Violet Boudoir, firmlybelieves that every woman should have a set of nakedphotographs taken at least once in their lifetime.“Everyone can be made to look and feel fabulous”, adds Gaynor, and it’s knowing how to do this and putpeople at their ease that sets Gaynor apart.

Differing quite substantially from other boudoirphotography companies, Violet Boudoir has opened upthis concept to a far broader cross section of women.Gaynor firmly believes “that it is through boudoirphotography that a woman can be made to feel goodabout her body and confident in her appearance”.

In the past, there has been much trepidation associatedwith boudoir images, however, more recently the entire concept and appearance is beginning to changepositively. Violet Boudoir provides an exclusive, personal and very discreet service; specialising in thetasteful side of boudoir photography - creatingbeautiful, artistic and romantic images which haveamazed many husbands-to-be.

You’ve decided on the date and you’vebooked the venue - now what?Today a wedding takes lots of planning. It might be oneor two years in the future, but wouldn’t it be great ifyou could keep all your friends and family up to datewith what’s happening no matter where they are.

Wedding Websites are rapidly becoming more popularamongst couples who want a way of communicatingwith all their guests and involving them in thepreparation for the great day. By pointing guests totheir Wedding Website, couples can provide details ofthe venue (with pictures and directions), informationabout local hotels (with links to their websites) or eventips about which taxi firm is the best one to use. As theday draws nearer, guests can be updated about dresscode and invited to request music for the weddingparty. And, more importantly, guests can get detailsabout those inevitable last minute changes withouthaving to be contacted individually.

One couple, who chose a wedding theme of a ‘vintagecountry house party’ really embraced the idea of aWedding Website. Wonderful Wedding Websitesworked with them to produce a site that matched theirvintage theme. The couple then added details of thevenue, a list of hotels with which they had negotiateddiscounts and their choice of trusted taxi companies. A few months before their special day, they providedguidance about what to wear and as the day drewnearer, even added the weather forecast!

One of the great things about a Wedding Website isthat it doesn’t end on the wedding day. Friends andfamily can upload pictures and comments and the brideand groom can easily tell everyone what a fantastic timethey had. Another great thing is that by working withan experienced Wedding Website company, such asWonderful Wedding Websites, they take care of all thehard work and technical know-how with a uniquepersonal service.

Wedding Websites are set to become the next ‘musthave’ and we think it’s easy to see why.

STEP 1Chair Covers and Table Linen are the key for themain transformation of your room whether it befor the Ceremony or the Breakfast, it is nice toaccessorise covers and tables by using a colouredsash or table runner to add a splash of colour.Sashes and runners are available in a variety ofcolours. Quite often Brides match the colour ofsash to bridesmaid dresses/cravat colours.Although, sometimes brides who choose a boldcolour that does not compliment the functionroom tend to match to the room colour toachieve a more elegant result. Neutral colours such as; white, ivory, brown, black, gold or silverwork well in most rooms.

STEP 2Table decorations can vary so much. Some coupleschoose to go with the view of ‘less is more’, whilstothers choose ‘more is most definitely MORE’,again it all boils down to personal taste.

Your tables will need a centre-piece, Glassware isthe most popular item as it can be filled with amultitude of items like, flowers, candles, gems, sand, gel, feathers, shells, fruits, sweets and many otheritems. Some people prefer small centre pieces soguests can socialise without a visual obstructionand some people prefer taller glassware like longstemmed vases or Martinis Glasses especially if the ceilings of the function room are really high. For couples who like both we advise an even splitof short and tall which can work well in any roomand adds texture which can stop the room fromlooking too flat or too overcrowded.

I get asked so many times what is Hot and what is Not in the Venue Dressing World. My answer is always the same. The choice is yours, as every couple are so different and unique. However, here are my top tips for getting right...

Guide to transforming your room into “The Wedding”Important factors to consider: Your budget, venue function room, wedding theme and the time of year you are getting married.

Glass bowls are my favourite as they are soversatile and can be decorated with lights, flowers, pine cones, snow, stones, sand, candles, butterflies, doves, feathers, wire, baubles and the list goes on,you can also add height by stacking different sizesof bowls on top of each other.

Balloons aren’t used as much now for decorationin the day, but they really do add the partyelement for the extra tables which are brought out for the evening, and they don’t cost a lot.

To finish off your table you can stand your centre-piece on a mirror for a greater effect andalso scatter some crystals, gems or rose petalsaround the centre piece.

STEP 3If you want to make more of an impact you coulduse a twinkling light curtain which really does addthe wow factor to your wedding. This normallygoes behind the Top Table then is left set up to

dazzle your guests in the evening or if budgets aretight what about some swags and bows on the top table, after all you will be the main attractionin the room.

Your transport choice is initially narrowed bypracticality; it is no use to book a fairytale horse &carriage if you are travelling long distances andneed to make several journeys during the day.Neither will a sleek sports car be spacious enoughfor your dream hooped or meringue style of dress.Large dresses will in fact flood all but the most

Nature is set to be a big trend for 2012 with feathers, leaves, branches, birds and butterflies being incorporatedinto designs. Vintage continues to be a very populartheme; a new twist is elegant tea parties, conjuring upthoughts of summer, tea and scones and the colours ofsweet peas; pale blues, pinks, purples and greens.

You may like to consider the time of year you are gettingmarried when deciding your colour theme. Deep, richcolours such as burgundy, deep red, burnt orange, chocolate and purple are ideal for a winter wedding.Where as leading colours for a summer are delicatepeaches, soft pink, light green, blush, pale blue and lilacs.

At ‘Just For You’ we like to keep up to date with newtrends, creating elegant, unique Luxury and CoutureHandcrafted Wedding Stationery that stand apart fromothers.
