LOOKING FOR LUXURY IN THE GTA? Surely you’ve heard of neighbourhoods such as the Bridle Path, Forest Hill, Lawrence Park and Rosedale. In a city that is expected to continue to lead the country’s luxury home market, these areas are well known and well established.

But they are also for the extremely well heeled. According to the 2015 Top Tier Real Estate Report from Sotheby’s

International Realty Canada, the average price of single-family homes sold in the Bridle Path in December 2015 was $4.3 million. For a condo, $1.3 million.

In Forest Hill, the same housing types would have cost you $3.3 million and $575,000, respectively, in December. In Rosedale, $3 million and $743,000.

Bymark’s Lobster PoutineFOODIE

With over 35 years in the culinary industry, Chef Mark McEwan certainly knows his way around a kitchen. He has cooked for Pope John Paul II, has hosted several Food Network programs, opened several successful restaurants, including Bymark and North 44 )º, and has had a gourmet food store, aptly named McEwan, at The Shops at Don Mills since 2009.

MethodHeat half the butter to 120F. Place a stainless steel mixing bowl over a pot of simmering water, add egg yolks and gastrique, and whisk together until they the mixture thickens and turns pale yellow. Remove bowl from heat, and while whisking continuously slowly add the butter. Add lemon, Tabasco, Worcestershire, salt, pepper and tarragon and set aside in a warm place.

Heat the remaining butter to 170F. Cut the lobster meat into bite-size pieces and add to the butter. Finish cooking French fries, then drain and toss with salt.

Simply scatter a warm plate lightly with some of the chives, add half the fries, then half the butter-poached lobster and dab with béarnaise. Add another layer of fries, the remaining lobster, a generous smattering of béarnaise and finally the remaining chives.

2 large Yukon gold potatoes, scrubbed, about 20 oz combined

1 live lobster, about 1.25 lb par-cooked and shelled

2 cups clarified butter

2 egg yolks

1 tbsp gastrique

Pinch of salt, ground white pepper

1 tbsp tarragon, chopped
