Low dose nifedipine controls hypertension Few studies have assessed the effects of low doses of nifedipine. In an open study, a significant reduction in BP was observed in 47/52 patients with essential hypertension within 5 min of administration of oral nifedipine 5mg. Five patients failed to respond despite a repeat nifedipine dose. Transient headache and mild headache were reported in 3 patients each. lerjes-Sanchez, et al.
