By: Caroline Rilette

INTRODUCTION

Louis Armstrong is an important musician. He changed American music forever. He mixed scat singing with jazz music. Scat music is a type of singing in which the singer imitates a jazz instrument vocally without words. He showed effort, motivation and persistence to change music forever.

LOUIS ARMSTRONG’S ACCOMPLISHMENT

Louis Armstrong changed music forever by mixing SCAT SINGING wITH jAzz MUSIC IN THE 1910’S. HE learned to play the cornet in 1913. At age 14 Louis played at some clubs in New Orleans. In 1925 Louis began making records. He had a unique style of using his voice like a musical instrument. Other singers have tried to copy his style. LOUIS ARMSTRONG AND ME

Louis Armstrong and I have both worked hard to change the way people think about things. Louis Armstrong worked hard to change the way people thought about his music. I have worked hard to change the way people thought about the Indian dance I did in the variety show at my school.

MY ACCOMPLISHMENT

one day me and my friends kareena , Skye and Sanya were discussing what to do for the variety show. Sonya said “My MOM kNOwS AN INdIAN dANCE SHE CAN TEACH US”. wE ALL AGREEd IT wAS A GOOd IdEA SO wE ALL wENT TO SANyA’S house and had a lesson with her mom. we learned the first four steps in the Indian dance she said to practice at home and at recess. When I got home I felt so determined to make people feel and think about the show I put on so I decided I would practice at home, recess and at lessons. Later the next month a day from the variety show we were doing a final practice in front of an audience (my family) I was excited! Once we preformed I felt good about the dance. But even after the dance I practiced even though it was just a day away. At the variety show (THE NExT dAy) I STARTEd TO THINk PEOPLE wOULdN’T LIkE ME but I forced myself that they would like me after all of my hard work.
