A quick look at LOOP water and what we're all about.

TRANSCRIPT

Between 1997 and 2007, the per capita consumption of bottled water has nearly doubled. In fact, Americans use 1500 of the plastic bottles every second. The scary part is that around just 24% of these make it into the recycling bin...the rest end up in landfills and our oceans. Not very good, right?

At LOOP, we acknowledge that the best way to reduce this waste is choose a reuseable bottle, but we also understand that even people who own these bottles don’t always use them. They’re often forgotten on the counter at home, and when they are carried along, the water inside doesn’t stay cold for long.

That’s where we come in. LOOP WATER fills in when you don’t have your reuseable bottle but want cold, fresh water on the go. Now there’s a way to cut down on the guilt without sacrificing the benefits bottled water gives you.

SO, WHAT’S THE DEAL?

Well, what the heck is LOOP anyway?LOOP WATER is natural spring water packaged in 16 ounce, 100% recyclable aluminum bottles. The bottles look high-end, and it’s the only bottle that outwardly displays your dedication to making smarter choices for the environment.

And aluminum is envrionmentally-friendly?Now wait a second...even though it doesn’t sound like a metal container would be better for the environment, it really is. Aluminum is an amazingly efficient material. Our bottles contain 44% post-consumer material, which takes just 5% of the energy to manufacture as compared to virgin (non-recycled) aluminum. Even more awesome is the fact that one aluminum bottle can go right back into making another aluminum bottle. This isn’t the case with plastic containers, which are downcycled into a lesser quality material used to make carpets and other textiles. We’re winning you over, aren’t we?

Well, what about the energy it takes to mine aluminum? It’s true. Extracting aluminum from the earth is a very intensive process. Luckily, though, almost two-thirds of this energy comes from a renewable hydropower source. Pretty cool, huh?

It can’t be better than those plant-based plastic bottles though...Or can it? Even without taking into consideration all of the bad side effects of biofuels (the petroleum replacements), aluminum is still more efficient (ask us for a snazzy chart if you’d like). And in case you haven’t heard, bioplastics are actually more porous, so the beverage inside evaporates more quickly. In fact, the material’s manufacturers recommend overfilling so that by the time you get the bottle, you still have the advertised volume. That seems a little fishy to us...

WHAT WE THINK YOU’LL WANT TO KNOW:(If we’ve missed anything important, just ask nicely and we’ll get back to you)

We’re not asking you to give up the convenience of bottled water. All we ask is that you think about your options and make the smarter choice.

It just makes sense.
