INTRODUCTION

Polypyrrole can be prepared by chemical or electrochemical oxidative polymerization . The electrochemical preparation of conducting polymer is usually carried out through oxidative polymerization of their corresponding monomers by constant current, constant potential etc. Solvent : water , acetonitrile, ethanol etc.

Blends For blending two polymers together, it is necessary for both the polymers to be soluble in common solvent. As Polyaniline and polypyrrole are intrinsically conducting polymers but are not soluble in any solvent, so it is necessorry to make these polymers soluble. For this purpose these polymers are doped with different sulphonates like p.TSA(toluenesulfonic acid), CSA(camphor sulphonic acid), NSA(naphthalene sulphonic acid), DBSA(dodecylbenzene sulphonic acid) and sulphuric acid.

Blending technique1. Melt blending: polymer is mechanically mixed with the inorganic material at elevated temp.

2. Solution blending:solution method is one of the easiest and comfortable methods. Thismethod needs that both the polymers should be soluble in same solvent.

Blends of PMMA/PPy DBSA prepared by solution blending.

Solvent: chloroform

miscibility agent: hydroquinone

Preparation PMMA dissolved in most appropriate solvents chloroform (0.1g/10ml solvent) and PPy DBSA also dissolve in same solvent with same concentration

Each of the pure PMMA solutions was added to PPy.DBSA solution separately in appropriate amounts (wt% PPy.DBSA : wt% PMMA), 1:99, 5:95, 10:90, 20:80, 30:70, and 40:60, respectively.

Hydroquinone 1% by weight was added in each solution as a miscibility agent.

Each of the above solutions was ultrasonically agitated for 2 h at room temperature prior to casting.
