The Lifesciences vertical of The Indian Express Group, Express Pharma (formerly- Express Pharma Pulse) from its inception in 1994, has been covering news, views and features in major functional areas of the industry [pharmaceutical, biotech, and the allied sector]. Since then, we have been regularly tracking and writing on issues and major happenings having a bearing on the industry. At the Express Group it has been our constant endeavor to provide well researched stories with insightful discussion and opinion from the thought leaders, industry captains, and sectoral gurus.

With India’s pharmaceutical industry estimated to be worth $55billion by 2020, India’s logistic players are set to play an even more crucial role in connecting the manufacturer with the consumer.

Logistics is regarded as a crucial part of the pharmaceutical industry since the activities are highly time sensitive. In addition, pharma products need temperature-controlled storage and distribution to maintain the quality. The pharmaceutical supply chain is quite intricate and highly responsible to ensure that the right drug, reaches the right people at the right time and in the right condition to fight against disease and sufferings. In the coming years major drugs will require cold chain transportation. To make operation successful “in the pharmaceutical industry, the efficient supply chain management is not just a case of guaranteeing that a patient’s supply of medicine is made available on time when needed, it is a case of ensuring that the entire supply chain and distribution network is focused on supplying a quality product that complies at every point with regulatory requirements and is fit for use when it reaches the patient.
