Fort St. John First Nations LNG Summit

Introduction

The latest First Nations Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) Summit, hosted by Treaty 8 Tribal Association (T8TA), is a unique opportunity for your organization to engage with First Nations leadership from across British Columbia on one of the most pressing issues of our time - the extraction and transportation of LNG.

The Summit takes place in Fort St. John’s Pomeroy Hotel on February 17-19, 2014 and is designed to build on the feedback and findings from previous 2013 summits in Prince Rupert and Prince George. The workshop-driven agenda aims to provide First Nations leaders with the ideas, tools and next steps to help communities make informed decisions on LNG.

Sponsoring the latest First Nations LNG Summit is a special opportunity to take part in the development of First Nations’ strategies and thoughts. By attending the summit, delegates can expect to:

• increase their understanding of the LNG sector;• engage in meaningful discussions related to resource development opportunities and

risks;• provide valuable input into the development of the LNG strategy; and,• leave with tools and templates to support the active engagement with natural resource

projects in their own communities.

By sponsoring this event, your organization has a chance to network with First Nations leaders - and help make real progress on this vital issue.

Outline program

Day 1: Extraction site tour for First Nations leaders and a ‘cultural exchange’ to showcase the culture and values of local First Nations. Followed by an evening reception and exhibition.

Days 2 and 3: A combination of introductory talks and keynote speakers, with action-focussed workshop sessions to help First Nations leaders progress on LNG debates in their communities.
