Livin’ on the River

Made by Osiris Inc.Christian Mathis, Spencer Molenaar, Justin

Rockwell, Vincent Turner, and Brandon Delucco.

The Location

• The Nile River runs through Uganda, Ethiopia, Sudan, Burundi, Egypt. Its mouth is Egypt intothe Mediterranean Sea. Its source is Burundi, Central Africa. The Ripon Falls is the real beginning of the Nile

Religion

• Our religion is Polytheism then to Monotheism then back to Polytheism. We mummify our pharaohs and send them to the underworld to get their heart weighed by Anubis. If their heart is

good then they will go withOsiris. If their heart is badthen you would be eaten Ammut.

This is our Government Structure

Pharaohs

• It starts with the Pharaoh and his Queen, they are the leaders.

Viziers

• Then the Viziers were the highest position in serving the Pharaoh and Queen.

Nobles and Priests

• Then there is the Nobles and the Priests. They are probably in charge of keeping provinces and civilizations in line.

Scribes and Soldiers

• Then there are Scribes and Soldiers, Scribes write things like treaties and war declarations and things like that. Soldiers fight for us.

Craftsmen

• Then there is Craftsmen and there name pretty much sums there job up. They would make crafts and sell them or give them to the government to make life easier to the wealthier people.

Farmers and Slaves

• The lowest is farmers and slaves. Slaves work for the richer people and farmers work to grow crops and food.

How the Physical Environment Affected Human Activity

In Egypt it is hot so you will need to keep yourself cool , but with you living next to the Nile you shouldn’t have a problem with that. Although you need to be careful because the Nile floods every year. The upside to that is that the flood gives you rich and moist soil good for growing crops for food. Also tomb builders need to know how to build tombs based on the dunes and sand. The land is very sandy and wavy because of dunes.

Ancient Egyptian Gods

• Ancient Egyptian people have their own way of mythology. They had gods such as Horus, Ra, Osiris, Anubis, Huenfur, Isis, Bastet, Sekhmet, Wadjet, Sobek, Set, Bes, Hapi, Mesti, Duamutef, Thoth, Geb, Hathor, Nephthys, Tefnut, and Shu. These are some main gods. Praise Osiris.

Mummification Process

• Canopic Jars – Based on the four sons of Horus.• The Lungs went into a jar with Hapi, the baboon

headed son of Horus. • The Stomach went into a jar with Duamutef, the

jackal headed son of Horus.• The Liver went into a jar with Mesti, the human

headed son of Horus.• The Intestines went into a jar with Qebsenef, the

falcon headed son of Horus.

Architecture

• Housing- Right now our Architecture is made of mud bricks and stone. The Wealthiest peoples houses were made out of stone. Poor peoples houses were made out of mud and maybe 1 row of bricks.

• Tombs- Tomb architecture began right after Pharaohs began to rule. The tomb builders always decorated the tombs with hieroglyphics.

• Pyramids- The pyramids are built for great pharaohs and kings to rest and be sent to the gods.

Trade

• We do not have a monetary system. So we started trading. We will hunt or farm to try and get things that we need. If they didn’t get what they needed we will send someone to trade with another colony, civilization, we also trade between upper and lower Egypt. That’s how we get certain things. Sometimes we trade our extra supplies. One trade route is we go across the Mediterranean Sea.

The Hyksos

The Hyksos were fierce Asian warriors. They came to Egypt in 1800 B.C. As their numbers increased so did their power. The y gained control of Egypt in 1640 B.C. Their weapons were made from bronze and iron. Hyksos

kings ruled for about 100 years. In 1550 the Egyptians took back their land.

Farming

• We farm mostly when the river goes down so that when it floods the crops will become rich and moist. Some of our main are wheat and barley. These were used to make bread and beer. Flax is another important crop. It is used to make cloth. We also grow things like onions, garlic, and grapes. We also domesticate animals like geese and cows.

Physical Features that influence historical events.

• The Nile is the main feature that make us famous. It floods every year. Also many events are caused because of the Nile river. We made The Valley of the Kings on the other side of the Nile. We have enough food because of the Nile.
