Sups and Suds 3rd Annual Battle of the Paddles3k Paddle Board and Solo Kayak Races start promptly at 5:30pm. Course from the Rotary Island footbridge to the 2nd Street Bridge and return. Race check-in on Rotary Island, Thunder Bay River, 4:00pm. Bring your own board or kayak. All competitors must wear appropriate personal flotation device. View the race from behind the Great Lakes Maritime Heritage Center—including the Roof Deck. Over 21 can enjoy a craft beer tasting event from 4:30 – 8:00pm.

Cardboard Boat Regatta Construct a “human-powered” boat made of cardboard that will hold at least one crew member and be “seaworthy” to race (for a short while at least) on the Thunder Bay River in Alpena. Fun for everyone in the family! Anyone age 10 or older may enter the race. Individuals, Groups, Non-Profits, Businesses, Corporate, and School Teams come join us! The Moxie Strings The Moxie Strings’ polished, high-energy show and unique sound are redefining strings’ in contemporary music, and have made the band one of the country’s most promising instrumental acts. The band composes the majority of their pieces and arranges melodies from many traditions, resulting in a genre-blurring blend of ear-catching melodies and foot-stomping, rock-influenced rhythms. Alison performs on a newly-invented, electric cello, and Diana on a contemporary 5-string violin, both through a variety of audio effects pedals.
