Some information

Lithuania has unique nature unspoilt by endless industry, which makes rural tourism very popular among the Lithuanians.

The largest Lithuanian river is the Nemunas.

There are nearly 4.500 lakes and pound

Trakai is important to the history of Lithuania as it was the second capital of Lithuania. The most prominent building is the Island Castle – in Gothic and German-style defensive castle.

History

In 1361 Kaunas castle became a centre of trade and at that time the heartbeat of the city moved from the Castle to the Town Hall and the surrounding area. Out of the three remaining town halls in Lithuania, Kaunas has the most luxurious one.

Cathedral Basilica of Saints Peter and Paul is the biggest gothic-style chutch in Lithuania.
