    Dear Robert,

When writing this paper I sat down to think of ideas. The invention work we did in class

helped brainstorm ideas and give a basis to my paper. After consulting the invention work I

wrote my first draft. I got stuck and couldnt think of any more ideas so Iput away my laptop

and went to bed. In class the next day we did peer review. These gave me ideas of what else I

could write and what I needed to expand on. This gave me enough ideas to finish writing my

paper. I expanded on my highs and lows to show the contrast of my initial illiterate nature and

my now literate knowledge. I added dialogue and inner thoughts to show my feelings throughout

    the process of literacy.

I chose to write about my journey to literacy in becoming a certified nursing assistant

because I am very passionate about nursing. This journey has shaped my whole future in nursing.

Because I was able to start as a certified nursing assistant I can now focus on my classes instead

of worrying about getting certified for the upper division nursing program. Choosing this as a

subject allowed me to further reflect on my career plans. It also further helped me confirm that

being a nurse is truly what I want to do in life. My future and career path are both subjects I find

myself thinking about often, so it is only natural that I chose this topic to write about for the

literacy essay. When writing this paper, I found it difficult to decide what examples to use and

which to leave out. However, I found it extremely easy to tell and discuss the examples I chose,

as nursing is obviously an interesting topic to me. Through the ups and downs of this writing

experience, I have discovered more about myself and what exactly I want for my future.
