Chorus

Mendi Wittwer

BACS Chorus students totally ROCKED their performances of “Together

We Can Change The World” at our October Community Circle gatherings!

They sounded great, musically conveying the message of how we ALL can

make this world a better place. Special kudos to our soloists: Lindsey

Mercer, Nia Perry, Ronnie Polane, and Megan Garner. Fantastic job,

EVERYBODY!

This month, we are busy working on music for our winter performance at

Weekend of the Arts. Both Beginning and Advanced Chorus will perform

on Monday, December 10 (6:00pm), as will Middle School Band students.

We look forward to presenting our musical work to you!

In this month of giving thanks, know that I am very grateful for the

opportunity to make music with our BACS middle schoolers. Thank you

for your support!

Middle School Theatre Arts – Toni Aybar

Our Theatre Arts students have been hard at work on a Puppet

Theatre Unit. They have shown amazing creativity while

completing Shoe Box Theatres, used their imaginations to write

short stories using the elements of writing, have completed their

script conversions, and are beginning to present their original

shows!

You can keep up with our class by signing up for the 2nd period Theatre

Arts Remind using the following link: remind.com/join/hhdde9.

learning the skill of dribbling a basketball. Fifth Grade students

completed the 20 Meter Pacer Run this month and will work on

improving our score in our post test in December.

There’s lots of fun hands-on learning happening in the science lab! I would love to be able to restock some

materials for the kids to use. Below is a list of items that would be very helpful for the school. I am also looking

for two or three people to volunteer in the lab on the days that I am not here to support teachers, pull materials and

put them away, and help maintain the organization of the lab. If you are available and have a flexible schedule,

please email me and let me know if you’d be willing to step in and help. I could also use some helping with

binding the teachers science lab books if you need some volunteer hours. As always, thank you for your continued

support as we explore the wonderful world of Science!

STEM Wish List:

Tea Light Candles, Food Coloring, Ping Pong Balls, Cotton Twine/String, Large Poppers, Orthodontic Wax, Paper

Towels, Household Cleaner (Mr. Clean, Lysol, etc.), Hand Soap Refill Bottle (not antibacterial), Masking Tape

Gravity Games

Brighten Academy was one of 60 student-led teams that competed in the 5th Annual GravityGames, a gravity-only car race

competition sponsored by Google, Georgia Tech and the City of Douglasville.

Brighten Academy swept the competition, winning all four divisions it raced in — Stock, Super Stock, Scottie Stock and

Engineered. We would like to thank all of our staff, students, and parents who came out to support our team. The

Brighten Academy team was led by Roy Garren and included Camille Crowder, Jackson Herzlieb, Cameron Miller, Joey

Arnold, Zach Henderson, Alain Civil, Tyler Civil, Alexa Garren, and Khloe Smith.
