LinkedIn Resume Builder
Build a resume – Complete your profile
Complete your LinkedIn profile and create a resume at the same time! LinkedIn’s resume builder
allows you to create a variety of resume styles, edit your profile and copy a public link to the
document. You can use the resumes you create, or explore ideas for improving your own version.
Start by completing your profile. Be sure to have the following if they apply to you:
Contact information like an e-mail address, phone and city or “Twin Cities, Minnesota.”
An introductory summary statement in short paragraph form that may include an
objective. Keep it focused on what you can do for a potential employer.
Employment details like name and location of employers, dates, job titles and
accomplishment statements in bulleted form.
Education, including degrees, majors, and graduation dates. Add student activities,
Dean’s List or other accomplishments.
Skills in software, hardware and other areas like marketing and accounting.
Honors and awards.
Languages spoken, including fluency level.
You also get a public URL – a link that directs users to this digital version of your resume. Get
started at http://resume.linkedinlabs.com.
Create a couple of different resumes and see what you think. Some of the 11 available templates
include additional information about skills. You can edit the resumes by changing your profile or
using tools like the Outline feature that allows you to move or hide portions of the resume. Some
additional information you don’t want may appear, while some details you’d like may need to be
added. Another option is to copy the text and paste it into a Word document and modify it there.
