LinkedIn has grown by an impressive 100 percent from last year, it now has over 100 million

users across the globe. Interestingly, 56% of these users are from outside of the US.

LinkedIn is currently available in six languages: English, French, German, Italian, Portuguese and

Spanish.

LinkedIn started off 2011 with about 1,000 full-time employees located all around the globe, up from

around 500 at the beginning of 2010.

Finding Keywords

In order to find your keyword, think about the industry you are in.

If you’re in graphic design

If you’re a accountancy

If you’re in mentoring / teaching

If you’re in floristry



What are your search terms?

What words would someone type into a search engine to find you? A search engine like:

Google

YahooBing

These are your keywords.



Example

You baked and decorated cakes. Your keywords might be: Cake Decorator

If you specialised in wedding cakes. Your keywords might be: Wedding Cake Decorator



Keyword Tip

They should be as simple as possible

1, 2 or 3 keywords are best



Spot the Keyword



Headline Keyword Optimisation

Your headline is the most relevant, it’s what people see first when they click on your profile or do a search.

Your headline should tell:

• Who you are• Who you help• How you help them

120 Characters or less



Example

I help first time home buyers find the home of their dreams in 7 days or less



Importing ContactsClick on the Contact tab. Import your contacts from Gmail, Hotmail, Yahoo or AOL by clicking the ‘Add Connections’ link in the top right corner.



Limited Invitations

You only have 3,000 invitations that you can send out. So you only want to connect with those that are already on LinkedIn.



LinkedIn Members

Import those contacts with the little blue LinkedIn box to the right of their name.



Importing Contacts• Click the box on the left of each person that has a LinkedIn account.

• See how the window on the right is getting populated with your contacts?

• You can remove a name if you want to or click on remove all.

• When you have selected all the contacts, click the blue ‘Invite Selected Contacts’

Go through the alphabet adding and sending invitations.

ANSWER A QUESTIONBrowse a Section relevant to the your industry: • Business travel• Business operations• Hiring• Marketing and sales Click on a question that you feel you could provide the best answer. In your answer you might make some reference to a blog post for example.



Reply privately after you answer the question

And you’d say

“You know, I just wanted to let you know that I answered your question and left this response publicly, but I want to let you know that I’ve really got a great video or a great answer for this. And if you’re interested in learning more I’m happy to do a free 15 minute phone call to give you some strategy on what you can get out of LinkedIn and how you can go from there. Reply privately after you answer the question

Send the information and then see if they would like a phone call. This person needs help. They’re trying to figure out what they can do. It doesn’t matter what the question is, when you answer the question publicly and then reply privately it shows that you care about them, that you want to help them out to take them to the next level. By doing that, you can probably get an email conversation, or get them on the phone.
