obedience. More than our expressions of thanksgiving, He wants our obedience. More than our statements of love and adoration, He wants our obedience. Obedience is the foundation of our relationship with Him. God knows that if He has our obedience, all the rest will follow – but the reverse is not necessarily true. We can serve and not be obedient, but you can’t obey without serving. You can worship yet disobey, but you can’t obey and not worship. Get the point? I encourage you today to ask the Holy Spirit to reveal to you any areas of disobedience in your life. It may even seem to be in some “small” thing. But believe me, no point of disobedience is “small” to the Lord, because every point of disobedience is sin and sin required the blood of Jesus. Let’s get back to making life simple again – “just obey.”

“Father, examine and show us our hearts today. Help us to know that we are walking in obedience in every area of living. Holy Spirit, transform our thinking so we can say like David, “I delight to do Your will.” Strengthen us to live in “instant obedience” to Your Word, and through that obedience open to us the fulness of life that only You can give. Amen”

One Simple Rule? PastorTorryGligora

I am continually amazed at how simple God designed life to be and how complicated we make it. Think of it; God created the entire world, then placed that world in a galaxy, and hung that galaxy in a universe. This magnificent creation filled with splendor and wonder. A universe of indescribable shapes, colors, and textures. Innumerable perfections, from the stars in the sky to the grains of sand in the oceans. Not to mention the animals, birds, fish, trees, plants, mountains, and rivers, all expressing the greatness and majesty of our God. Watch this: Then He gave it all to man as a gift. God handed it over, full control of it all. He called it “dominion” - with just one small caviot. God said: “Obey.” That’s it – just obey. And there wasn’t even all that much to obey. Just one simple rule. Imagine the enormity of all Adam was given, in comparaison to what he was asked to offer in return. One simple rule: Obey God’s Word. And it was through that obedience Adam was able to enjoy the fullness of all God had given him. When God met with the children of Israel in the wilderness we see a similar senario. God gives a littany of the blessings He desires to pour out upon this wandering nation. He promises that “blessingswillovertakethee” (Deut. 28:2). Provision, fruitfulness, victory in battle, expansion, increase, prosperity, health, abundance – all with that same caviot – “Obey.” Later, when Israel was ruled by kings, the success or failure of each monarch’s reign was determined by how well they were able to live up to this one simple requirement of obedience. If we could distill the life of faith down to its most basic form, we would find the irreplaceable virtue of obedience. The Bible says that even our love for God is best expressed through obedience and that disobedience is a violation of that love. A. W. Tozer said: “The Lord will not save those He cannot command.” That means, more than our praise, He wants our obedience. More than our sacrifices, He wants our obedience. More than our gifts of service, He wants our

Fall Classes!!! We are gearing up for the fall, and this means registering for movement classes and private piano and voice lessons. We offer classes for all age groups, including some short term classes, including Mommy & Me, Tambourine and Zumba for Women. For a full schedule, stop by the courtesy counter in the lobby or visit our website: www.charismacentreforthearts.com Classes begin Monday, August 27th; hope to see you there! We have scholarship monies available on a limited basis. Call Daryse Osborne at 613.261.8440 ext 727 for more information.

Fundraising Opportunites Kohl’s Department Stores came for a lively kickball tournament in June that added greatly to our scholarship fund! We are grateful to Becky Woods for connecting us to Kohl’s. In mid-July, 36 volunteers from CA met at the convention center to hand out tickets at the 2nd largest horticulture convention in the world. We earned monies for much needed new equipment for CCA classes.

Thanks to Libby Streamer for the invitation.

CCA Reaches OutFour of our seniors shared “None But Jesus” in the Sunday morning services at Upper Arlington Lutheran Church, and two of our recital classes ministered at a “City of God Concert” in Dayton, OH. We also hosted a community Zumba class outside in the field, which helped us get to know our neighbors. We look forward to having several of our students participate in 7 Days of Praise, the Feast of Tabernacles celebration in Groveport, OH, at the end of September.

update Charisma Centre for the Arts has had a very full summer. We hosted the 4th annual Summer Dance Intensive at the end of June. We had several new students from near and far, and our teachers imparted much in the short time we had together. The storm that came through on Friday wasn’t enough to keep us from our evening of worship. God’s ways are higher than our ways…and, always better! Although we had no power, we lit candles throughout the Family Life Center, worshiped “unplugged” and shared communion. Before we left, we prayed and shared a bowl of soup and fellowship, also by candlelight. Sometimes, in the simplicity, without all the distractions, we see Him more clearly. Our theme, “hungering and thirsting after righteousness” was practically clarified on that Friday evening.

Impact SundayChristian Assembly is committed to making disciples. One of the characteristics of being a disciple of Jesus is to use the gifts He has deposited in you to advance His kingdom. Unfortunetly, there are many who are struggling to see how their gifts and ablilities translate into kingdom work. On Sunday, September 23rd, you will have an opportunity to experience all the multi-faceted ministries at CA that make serving God both an honor and a joy. This will give you the chance to meet with each of the ministry departments, discover the multiplicity of job areas available for service, and match those areas to your interests and God-given abilities.

Come to morning service, Sept. 23rd. As part of the service, you will be let out early to have plenty of time to stop at any of the ministry tables to explore how you can find new ways to use your gifts to serve the Lord and your brothers and sisters in Christ. Ministry tables will be set up by skill set vs. department for you to interact and explore. Come with an open heart and mind for what God might have in store for you!

The Juve’s New Adventure

We are so thankful for Pastor David and Vicki Juve who have been an intricate part of our ministry staff and church family for more than 20 years. This past month, Pastor David and Vicki have announced that they believe God has shifted their assignment and will be leaving Columbus to go to Fargo, ND. The pastors and elders have met with Pastor David and support his decision. While our hearts are saddened at the thought of them moving away from us, we also are excited and rejoice with them as they pursue this new adventure in God. While separated by miles, Pastor David, Vicki, Morgan, Allie, and Sammy will always be in our hearts and prayers. Their projected schedule is for Vicki to move to Fargo at the end of July and Pastor David will remain in Columbus through the month of August.

What do 360 cupcakes and the Bible have in common? This past year a group of ladies from Christian Assembly supported the Bible study ministry of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes at Brookhaven High School by baking cupcakes each month. These cupcakes were enjoyed by the high school students who take time out of their lunch period to gather for Bible study and prayer each week. Interested in baking with us this next school year? Give the church office a call and ask for Betty Parker or Ellen Queen.

Is God stirring in your heart with an idea for a life group? Is it a burden for outreach, to teach Scripture or a ministry skill or maybe you have an idea on how to have some fun hang out time with fellow believers? If so, drop by the lobby counter and pick up a Life Group proposal form. Completed forms are due into the church office by October 1___which will be here sooner than you think!
