One of the most widely used timbers in the UK by the furniture industry. Being strong and straight grained it is easy to work in both turning and for furniture. Colour varies from light to dark brown and it stains easily.

It is quite a rare tree found in rain or marsh forests. The heartwood has the appearance of snakeskin, being red/brown with black vertical stripes which run across the grain. It is very hard and dense and used for decorative turning and violin bows.

Lincolnshire Woodcraft Supplies was established in 1989 by Robin Storey, a well known woodturner. Robin has been working with wood since 1968 and sells his work at major shows and craft fairs throughout the country.

Robin is also qualifi ed in furniture making, restoration and French polishing. In 1992 he was invited onto the register of The Worshipful Company of Professional Turners for his quality of Workmanship.

Most of the timber on sale at Lincolnshire Woodcraft Supplies can be seen being worked into a fi nished article in order to take some of the uncertainty out of buying unfamiliar woods. We are, of, course, always willing to advise.

Each blank is individually machined and labelled. All end grain is waxed to enable the purchaser to clearly see the grain. The price and moisture content is also stated on the timber.

Craft Shows Robin also attends a number of Craft & Agricultural Shows throughout the UK during the year.If a show is in your area Robin is happy to bring any timber you require along to the show, but would be grateful for 1 weeks notice.
