Kids - now is the time to clean out your room. Bring all

those old toys, games and clothes to the KIDS & FAMILY

RUMMAGE SALE. Make some money for new things and

get rid of some clutter! Be sure to bring a container or

shoe box with change and if you plan on doing some

shopping yourself - make sure to have someone

responsible to help with your table. Registration fee to

hold a table is $5.00. Age 12 or younger must have a

parent present. If case of inclement weather we will

move the sale into the DPW Garage.

This unique 16 week (8 weeks in fall and 8 weeks in spring) program teaches

children the fundamentals of soccer. This is open to all 5K-8th grade children.

This program teaches fun, fitness, and fair play. Children will learn proper soccer

skills and compete against other teams within the Kettle Moraine Soccer League.

Home games are played at Polk Field. Most games are played Saturday mornings.

POOL PARTY SPECIALS

Use this rental for any occasion - birthdays, boy / girl scout

outings, family reunions or just because! You will have use of

the Beach shelter for food, cake, gifts or just to hang out, plus

the use of the beach. Call the Park & Rec. office for further

information and to hold your day. When choosing size of

party, number of people is for total people attending the party,

not just those participating in swimming. Included with the

rental fee; 5 picnic tables, 2 small conference tables & use of

shelter electrical outlets.

Adult chaperones are required for youth groups (Children

of the beach rules for your information will be given at the time

SUMMER SPECIALS

Big Dog Days of Summer - On the 13th day of June, July and

August children 13 & under will receive a FREE Freeze Pop upon

entering the beach before 1:30 pm. *LIMIT ONE PER PERSON*

Wa Wa Wa....Wipe Out Hunger with the Slinger Beach - on

Saturdays, June 9 and July 28 from 11:00 am-5:00 pm the

beach staff will be collecting non-perishable food item

donations for the Slinger Food Pantry. Bring in two

non-perishable food items and receive a coupon good for one

free admission to the Slinger Beach at any later date.

Majik Mondays - On each Monday during July and August

children ages 7 & under receive FREE Admission to the beach.

Swim Lesson Special Note: If you plan on registering for more than one session of swimming lessons,

please register for the level your child is currently at throughout. Most

children require taking a level more than once to complete the

requirements. If your child passes a certain level, and you already have

enrolled them in that level again in an upcoming session, please contact

the Aquatic Supervisor to transfer your child to the next level. It is easier

to move a child ahead than to move them back if they do not pass.

Instructors will test skills on the first two days of lessons to make sure the

child is in the appropriate skill level. This means the child could move up a

level or down a level according to his/her present skill level.

Parent-Child Level (Ages 1 to 3)

Provides experiences and activities for children to explore the water and to feel

comfortable. Activities include gliding, submerging and assisted strokes.

Pre-School Level 2 (Ages 3 to 5)

Helps children gain greater independence in their skills and develop more comfort

in and around water. Activities include bobbing, floats and glides, finning, combined

arm and leg actions.

Pre-School Level 3 (Ages 3 to 5)

Helps children start to gain basic swimming propulsive skills to be comfortable in

and around water. Activities include jumping in, fully submerging, front floats,

jellyfish floats and tuck floats, change of direction of travel.

Level I - Intro to Water Skills (Must be 5 years old) Goal: Comfortable in the water.

Skills: Water safety, submerging head, using arms and legs on front & back,

exhaling under water, floating front & back, treading water.

Level II - Fundamental Skills Goal: Success with fundamental skills.

Skills: Front & back glide, treading water, jellyfish float and tuck float, combined

stroke on front & back, changing directions while swimming, rolling front to back.

Level III - Stroke Development Goal: Build on Level 2 skills & more.

Skills: Reaching assist, front & back crawl, standing dive, rotary breathing,

butterfly scissors, flutter and breast stroke kick on front, survival float.

Level IV - Stroke Improvement Goal: Develop confidence & improve skills.

Skills: Diving compact and stride entries, sidestroke, dolphin kick and flutter

on back, elementary backstroke, breaststroke, butterfly, throwing assist.

Level V - Stroke Refinement (Session II & III Only) Goal: coordination &

refinement Skills: Survival swimming, open turns, rescue breathing, flip turn,

continued practice with elementary backstroke, breaststroke, sidestroke and

butterfly, sculling, tuck pike, surface dives.

Level VI - Fitness Swimmer (Session II & III Only) Goal: Improve stroke, speed and

endurance Skills: All Level 5 skills will be worked on and include turns. Plus new

skills include etiquette in swimming, principle of a fitness program, calculating

target heart rate and applying principles of water exercise.

STAND UP PADDLE BOARD (SUP) YOGA

Instructed by Kayla Brugger of KB Sculpt

Yoga on a paddleboard will strengthen your core, build

lean muscle, make you sweat and get toned while you

push up, pose and plank. Don’t forget to breathe as

the body flows through a series of yoga postures on an

unstable surface! A paddleboard platform that is

unstable means full core engagement, better balance

and strong focus. This Vinyasa style class will refine

your technique, calm your mind and teach you to get

back up all while enjoying the beach life!

STAND UP PADDLE BOARD (SUP) FIT

Instructed by Kayla Brugger of KB Sculpt

Class will begin with a slow warm up and move

towards various strength and interval movements to

get your heart pumping. Burn fat, build lean muscle,

sweat and get fit while you squat, lunge and jump.

SUP Fit is a fun and challenging way to sculpt your

body, strengthen your core and improve you balance

while increasing your overall coordination. What to

bring to class: your swimming suit or clothing that can

get wet and a positive attitude.

SUNSET BEACH YOGA Instructed by Kayla Brugger of KB Sculpt

Come Nurture with nature! Community sunset beach yoga. Come join us for blissful beach front yoga at

Fireman’s Park Beach. Enjoy practicing yoga while you hear the sounds of nature and feel the last rays of

warmth of the sun as it sets. No experience necessary, all skill levels welcome. Yoga will include asanas

(poses), meditation and pranayama (breathing). Participants should wear clothes that allow them to move

and breathe. Please bring a towel or mat and water bottle. In the event of questionable weather, class may

be cancelled.

SWIM INSTRUCTORS NEEDED

Are you already certified as a lifeguard or WSI? We

have part-time work schedules available including

morning and daytime. Wages range from $8.75 to

$10.00 for lifeguards and $10.00 to $12.00 for

THURSDAY TREASURE DAZE

At 1:00pm & 3:00pm the lifeguards will drop different

colored golf balls into the water. If you happen to

have the selected colored golf ball you will win a small

prize. Children ages 13 and under are welcome to

compete.

Slinger Fireman’s Park Beach for a day of music,

beach a blast. This is something that the whole

family can enjoy. Lunch will also be available

for purchase.

HALF WAY TO CHRISTMAS

BEACH CELEBRATION

Come join us for this new event at the Slinger Beach

celebrating the half way point for the countdown to

Christmas! There will be decorations , music, frozen

hot chocolate bars and the big guy himself will pay a

visit to check on all the little girls and boys .

THE SLINGER BEACH DOGGIE DIP

Come on down to the beach and bring your

favorite pup for a refreshing afternoon of swimming

after the “human swimming season” is over. We will

be turning the beach over to our 4 legged friends for a

3 hour doggie dip. No human swimming will be

allowed.

Doggie Dip Rules:

DINO DAYS (Ages 4 & 5)

Let’s have some Dinosaur Fun! Learn about different

dinosaurs through story time and games. Make a

pre-historic surprise that’s yours to keep. We’ll also

“dig” up a snack!

PEE WEE SPORTS PROGRAMS (Ages 3-5)

Our Pee Wee Sports programs give children ages

3-5 and their parents the opportunity to get ready

for sports with a step by step approach to make

sports fun. The instructor teaches parents (or

older sibling age 12 & up) proper techniques and

teaching hints to be successful with kids this age.

You will then teach your child these techniques

and hints. All equipment will be provided. The fee

per class is $28 / $43 Non-School District.

You must register for each class individually.

This program is a mini version of our four week

Pee Wee Sport Series. Each sport being one class

period long, will give you and your child a preview

of the various sports in our Pee Wee Sports Series.

The Sampler will include basketball, football, golf &

This class combines songs, music & motor activities to

create fun-filled opportunities for your child. They will

while interacting with their peers. A parent or

caregiver should come ready to play along too!

Come spend some time with your friendly S.F.D.

firefighters! See their clothes, what they drive

and what equipment they use to fight fires.

Parents must attend as well.

PJ MASKS TOT WORKSHOP (Ages 3-5)

Night has come and the PJ Masks need a few specially

trained super heroes to assist them in protecting the

city from those pesky evil-doers. Color pictures of your

favorite PJ Masks member; Catboy, Owlette or Gekko,

complete your super hero training and then finally re-

energize with a super snack once your training is

complete.

LION GUARD TOT WORKSHOP (Ages 3-5)

Oh no! The hyenas are causing big problems in the Pride

Lands. Kion and the Lion Guard need your help to rescue

the other animals and get the hyenas back to the

Out-lands. Make your own animal mask, share a

Savannah snack and practice the skills that will help make

you honorary members of the Lion Guard.

TOTS IN THE KITCHEN (Ages 3 to 5)

Does your preschooler love to “help” in the

kitchen? In this class we will bring you and your

child into the kitchen and teach them to make

fun, simple foods, kitchen safety, as well as how

to measure ingredients. We will finish each class

with a tasting of our treats! NOTE: A parent must

stay with the child during the class.

LITTLE GRIDDERS FLAG FOOTBALL

This co-ed program is an intro to the basic

fundamentals of flag football. Each week will

consist of a review of skills, followed by a

scrimmage game against another team, which

will last approximately 1 hour and 15 minutes.

Children will be placed on teams and play a

BABYSITTING BASICS (Ages 11-13)

This baby-sitting certification course is created

especially for kids and teens ages 11 and up who are

TREE CLIMBING (Ages 7 & up)

Treetop Explorer, LLC provides a recreational tree climbing experience. Perfect for thrill-seekers or those

who prefer a more controlled environment than zip-lining or rock climbing. All gear is provided to climb

trees safely. Easy-to-follow instruction is given to get you climbing immediately. No prior experience need-

ed. Once you are in your harness and clipped on a rope, you are free to ascend at your own pace and move

This program is designed to get kids hooked on

fishing rather than drugs and crime. This trips

purpose is to teach kids how to fish and also to

challenge and teach them the meaning of

teamwork, integrity and respect for others. The

outing will be on Pike Lake. Each child will receive

a t-shirt. After fishing we will meet back on shore

for a simple lunch.

AN ENJOYABLE EVENING OF FRIENDS, MEMORIES & MUSIC WITH BILL HILL

Come and join us for an evening of fun and camaraderie. Light refreshments will follow a musical

performance by Bill Hill. Bill Hill’s musical program is a sing along concert of those favorite 50’s & 60’s

classics of yesteryear. This event is FREE but we would like you to RSVP so we have an approximate number

of people. You may sign up at the Slinger Village Hall, Slinger Community Library or the Slinger Housing

Authority Office.

A MOVIE ON THE HILL

Come and join the Recreation Department for a night at

the movies at the Fireman’s Park Sledding Hill. Bring

your sleeping bags, lawn chairs or blankets and settle in

for an evening of free entertainment. The movie will

begin at dusk. Make sure to visit our concession stand

to purchase your popcorn, pizza, soda and snacks.

Attendance is free, please bring a non-perishable food

donation for the Slinger Food Pantry. NOTE: Children

ages 8 and under must be accompanied by an adult.

FONDY AQUA PARK TRIP (Grades 6th –12th) Race a friend on the Zoom Floom, a 90’ high, double inflatable water slide; fly down the tropical land slide with a near vertical drop and a 40’ runway with splashes and sprays all the way down, or explore the awesome inflatable water park complete with trampoline, wall climb, tower jump and LAUNCHER. Paddle boarding and kayaking are also available. Bring a bag lunch or money to purchase lunch on your own, swimsuit & towel and sunscreen.

“A DAY OF FUN UNDER THE SUN” AT

PHANTOM RANCH CAMP

Join your friends for a day of fun at Phantom Ranch

Camp in Mukwonago. Spend your day at the beach,

paintballing, horseback riding or participating in a

variety of field games. Fee includes all day

swimming and participation in the basketball,

dodgeball, Frisbee golf, carpet ball and archery. The

fee also includes your choice of Horseback Riding,

Paintball OR Banana Boat Rides! For paintball the

first 100 paintballs are included. Also, an additional

waiver form must be filled out to play paintball.

Society CELEBRATE survivors, REMEMBER those lost to cancer and FIGHT BACK against a disease that has

already taken too much. Join us for a mostly FREE family orientated event with entertainment, a Car Show,

bouncy houses, music and food. All are welcome to the Relay For Life Hartford / Slinger just register at:

2018 Theme: LIBRARIES ROCK! - Shake, Shimmy, and Read

The 6 week summer reading program at the Slinger Community Library starts on Monday, June 11 and ends

on Friday, July 20. Registration for programs will begin on Tuesday, May 29, 2018.

June 11 - At 6:00pm the Slinger Library Fair. Kids games, pictures taken and face painting for the kids. Event will be

held outdoors. If inclement weather, event will be held in the D.P.W. Garage. Snow cones, nachos and cotton candy will

be served thanks to the Friends of the Slinger Library. Each child is eligible to receive 2 food items free.

June 13 - At 10:00am Fun at the Library! Navigate through a laser-like string maze, make a craft and try your hand at

making “elephant toothpaste”! Approximately 45 minutes. Sign up required. For ages 4-10.

June 14 - At 3:00pm Let’s Play a game! Group games will be played with a snack at the end! For ages 8 and up.

June 15 - At 10:00am Read, Rhyme, Rhythm For ages 3-5. A book based creative movement class. Using literacy skills

through actions with Beth Mueller. Sign up required & limited to 23 children. Parents, please stay with your children.

June 18 - At 9:30am Music Moves Me! Rhythm sticks, shakers, scarves and a parachute! Sign up required. For ages 6

International Education Center. Nature is full of beautiful music. The trilling toads, hooting of owls, chirping of crickets

and the countless bird songs make for an amazing experience! Come test your knowledge on calls of the wild! This is a

30 minute family program. No sign up required.

July 6- At 1:00pm, Storytime Ballet with the Milwaukee Ballet appropriate for ages 10 and under. The Milwaukee

Ballet will spice up our afternoon by bringing ballet books to life with the help of dancers to teach ballet basics addressed

in the stories. This workshop will include interactive movement games. It will take place at the Slinger Village Hall.

July 16 - At 1:00pm, Mammals of Wisconsin with Liz Herzmann the Wildlife Conservation Educator at the Horicon

Marsh International Education Center. Learn the identities of some Wisconsin native residents. By looking at their

adaptation, students learn how they survive in a state with a wide array of temperatures and ecosystems. This is a 30

minute family program. No sign up required.

Registration will be accepted at the

Village Hall Office during regular

business 8:00 am to 5:00 pm Monday

thru Friday. There is also a night drop

box inside the first set of doors of

Village Hall where you could drop off

registrations during non-business

hours.

Option 3: ONLINE REGISTRATION

You may register for classes online at

www.vi.slinger.wi.gov (under the

parks, rec. & forestry menu). Once

there, create an account and then you

will be able to register for programs.

All online registrations must be paid by

credit card or EFT through your

checking account. There will be NO

convenience fee charged for online

registrations.

RESIDENCY

A resident (for all programs held

at/on village owned property) is

anyone who lives within the

boundaries of the Village of

Slinger. To qualify as a resident

the individual must pay their

property taxes to the Village of

Slinger. The additional charge per

program for non-residents is

$15.00 to $25.00. Exception: A

resident for all programs held at a

school district facility is anyone

who lives within the boundaries

of the Slinger School District.

INSURANCE & LIABILITY

The Slinger Parks, Recreation &

Forestry Department does not

provide hospital / medical

insurance coverage for

participating in our programs and

cannot assume responsibility for

any injuries to participants in its

recreation programs. All

participants are required to

complete and sign a liability

waiver on the registration form

prior to start of the program.

REFUND POLICY

There will be no refunds within

2 weeks of the starting date of any

program. All other refunds will be

processed after a 50% cancellation

charge is deducted. Refunds take

a minimum of 2 weeks to process.

Only exceptions are for medical

reasons.

CANCELLATIONS

If a class size does not meet

the class minimum, the

class may be cancelled. If a

cancellation occurs due to

class size, you will be

offered a full refund or a

transfer to another class

with the same fee. We

make every effort to avoid

all cancellations.

Summer 2018 Activity Guide

Facility Reservations For Parks

The Village of Slinger has park facilities at

Fireman’s, Rueckl and Community Parks that

are available to the public for rentals. All

parks feature open shelters.

Reservation Policy

Reservations for all park shelters can be

made online or in person starting in February

for that calendar year. All reservations are

on a first come, first serve basis. Reservations

require that the interested party file the

necessary permit and pay the reservation fees

within one week of making the reservation or

the reservation will not be guaranteed. Fees are

determined by Village Residency and type of

event. For more information call 262-644-5265.

Frank Breuer Homestead Park

Located just off of Hwy. 175, 53 acres. Currently

undeveloped and includes natural conservancy.

Fireman’s Park Upper

Located right off of Parkway Drive, 14 acres.

Contains two shelters with electricity, picnic

tables, paths, gazebo, sledding hill, basketball

hoops, sand volleyball court, horse shoe pits,

playground, disc golf course & restrooms.

Fireman’s Park Annex Beach

Located on Baehring Drive, 9 acres. Contains an

outdoor supervised swimming area, shelter with

electricity, picnic tables, concessions, restrooms, and

off street parking

Community Park

Located on Kettle Moraine Drive N., 8 acres. Contains

a large shelter with electricity, restrooms, two

softball diamonds, a sand volleyball court, basketball

court, playground, batting cage, picnic tables, and off

street parking.

Rueckl Fields Park

Located on Lou’s Way, 5 acres. Contains a shelter

with electricity, restrooms, two softball diamonds, a

large playground, picnic tables and off street

SLINGER FRIENDS OF THE PARKS, RECREATION & FORESTRY INC.

The Village of Slinger Parks, Rec. & Forestry Department offers a wide variety of quality

and affordable programs for the community. To help maintain the quality of parks and

programs this group was formed to offset the dependence on public tax dollars. The

Slinger Friends of Parks, Rec. & Forestry Inc. is a non-profit organization which is dedicated

to improving and maintaining the Slinger parks for all citizens. Volunteering as a Friend of

the Slinger Parks is also a great way to help the community. To help fund various projects, the Slinger

Friends of the Parks are seeking donors to become partners with. Recognition will be provided through
