PARCANAccessories- • G-lamp• safety chain,• gel frame• adjustable arm• 15 amp plug• encased light bulb• Beam angle- 24 degrees

Explanation-Used for aesthetics and music gigs. You can also create a chase with them. They are also used to add depth to general cover.

Compare & Contrast-If I was creating a chase for a music gig I would use a Parcan over a Profile or a Birdie. I would choose a Parcan because it can create a chase, its aesthetic, it has gel frames and it is mainly used for general cover. I wouldn't use a Profile because it wont create general wash and it is mostly used for specials, like gobos and iris’ and I wouldn't use a Birdie because it is too small and the light isnt powerful enough.

LightIf there is no light, or the bulb is not working, all spare lights can be found at the back of the hall. Safety chainIf you are hanging the light from the rig or the boom, the CCT must have a safety chain . Additional safety chains are situated at the back of the hall. G clampIf you are putting the light in the rig, you will need a G clamp. Additional G clamps are situated at the back of the hall. GelIf using colour you will need a gel. These can be found in the gel cabinet at the back of the hall. You should then cut the gel to the required size Gel FrameIf using colour you will require a gel frame which are hung on the wall at the back of the hall above the light rack. Make sure your gel frame is the correct size for you light.

FRESNEL- PCAccessories- • G-lamp• safety chain• gel frame• adjustable arm• 15 amp plug• Barn doors• Adjustable knob• Beam angle- 60 degrees

Explanation-Used for general cover. Also can be used as a spot light if you are in desperate need of a spot light because it is the closet thing to a spot light, because of its pebble lens.

Compare & Contrast-If the Profiles are broken but I need to isolate an actor, I would use a PC over a Selecon and a CCT. I would use a PC because the light has a defined edge and so the actor would be more isolated and it also has the same lens as a profile so it is the most similar. I wouldn't use a Selecon or a CCT because neither are as defined as a PC.

FRESNEL- CCTAccessories- • G-lamp• safety chain,• gel frame• 15 amp plug• Barn doors

Explanation-Used for a general wash and can also be used to optimise things on stage because of the barn doors.

Compare & Contrast-If I was using side light for a dance performance I would use a CCT over a Pinspot or a Profile. I would use a CCT because it defuses light and it has barn doors. I wouldnt use a Pinspot because it is generally used for lighting glitterballs and it also isnt powerful enough for side light. I wouldnt use a Profile because its too defined and wont create general wash.

• Adjustable knob• Adjustable arm• Ridged circular lens• Beam angle- 35 degrees

FRESNEL- SELECONAccessories- • G-lamp• safety chain• 15 amp plug• Barn doors• Bigger than a CCT• 2 adjustable knobs• Beam angle- 6-60 degrees

Explanation-Used for general cover, but can also be used to manipulate the light because of the barn doors.

Compare & Contrast-If I was creating a general wash for a Christmas show I would use a Selecon over a PC and a Parcan. I would use a Selecon because they are normally used for general wash. I wouldn't use a Parcan because they are only used to add depth and I wouldn't use a CT because they are too defined.

FRESNEL- 1KAccessories- • G-lamp• safety chain• 15 amp plug• Barn doors• Wire mesh• Beam angle- 30 degrees

Explanation-Used for backlight to help create definition of the actors. It is also used for general wash.

Compare & Contrast-If I was creating backlight for a musical I would use a 1K over a Birdie or a Profile. I would use a 1K because it defuses light and is used for general wash. I wouldnt use a Birdie because its too small and is usually used for aesthetics. I wouldnt use a Profile because its too defined and wouldnt create a general wash.

SPOT LIGHT- MINUETTE PROFILEAccessories- • G-lamp• safety chain• 15 amp plug• Shutters• Gel frame• Gobo• Iris• Beam angle- 25 degrees

Explanation-Used for lighting a stage, but mainly used for highlighting objects and people on the stage to make them stand out from everything else on the stage around them.

Compare & Contrast-If I was trying to create a window effect for a set I would use a Minuette Profile over a CCT or a Parcan. I would use a Profile because it isolates a spot and it also has a gobo and shutters so it is easier to create and effect with them. I wouldnt use a CCT because it is used for general wash and doesnt have a gobo and I wouldnt use a Parcan because it cant define the spot as much.

Shutters can be found at the back of the hall above the lighting rack. GoboIf you want to add a pattern to your light you need to add a gobo and a gobo holder. Gobos can be found in Julies office and gobo holders can be found at the back of the hall above the lighting rack. IrisIn order to reduce the beam angle you can use an iris. These can be found above the lighting rack at the back of the hall.

SPOT LIGHT- SOURCE FOURAccessories- • G-lamp• safety chain• 15 amp plug• Shutters• Gel frame• Gobo• Iris• Beam angle- 16 degrees

Explanation-Used for lighting a space or highlighting people or objects on stage. Uses an energy saving light bulb so the light is brighter and whiter than the one in a Minuette Profile.

Compare & Contrast-If I was isolating an actor on stage I would use a Source Four over a Selecon or a Flood. I would use a Source Four because it is a defined spot light and it is used for isolating actors. I wouldn't use a Selecon because it is used for general cover and has no defined edge. I wouldn't use a Flood because it is used for general cover and cant direct light.

BIRDIEAccessories- • G-lamp• safety chain• 13 amp plug• Gel frame• Barn doors• Beam angle- 15 degrees

Explanation-Used in museums and exhibitions. Can also be used in truss’. Mainly used for aesthetics and lighting the audience in performances.

Compare & Contrast-If I was lighting the audience I would use a Birdie over a Selecon or a Parcan. I would use a Birdie because it is aesthetic and it doesnt produce much light so no attention would be taken off the actors on stage once the audience was lit. I wouldnt use a Selecon or a Parcan because they are too big and bright and create too much general wash.

PINSPOTAccessories- • G-lamp• safety chain• 15 amp plug• Beam angle- 12 degrees

Explanation-Used for to light glitter balls or used in museums and exhibitions. You cant change the colour but you can change the bulb.

Compare & Contrast-If a talent show required a glitter ball effect I would use a Pinspot over a Flood or an LED Parcan. I would use a Pinspot because its main purpose is to light glitter balls. I wouldn't use a Flood or an LED Parcan because it creates too much general wash and you cant direct the light.

FLOODAccessories- • G-lamp• safety chain• 15 amp plug• Gel frame• Beam angle- 60 degrees

Explanation-Used for lighting a cyclorama mainly, but sometimes used to light the audience. You cant direct the light on them.

Compare & Contrast-If I was lighting a cyclorama I would use a Flood over a Profile or a Birdie. I would use a Flood because it creates a general wash and has a wider angle of light. I wouldn't use a Profile because its too defined and is normally used for specials and I wouldn't use a Birdie because it is too small and wouldn't produce enough light.

LED PARCAN Accessories- • G-lamp• safety chain• 15 amp plug• Beam angle- 18 degrees

Explanation-Used for general wash, but the colour can be changed from the desk so you don't need a gel.

Compare & Contrast-If I wanted to provide multiple colouring allowing the mood of the scenen to change I would pick an LED parcan over a Flood or a Parcan. I would use and LED Parcan because it has the 3 primary colours built into it and it can be changed by the desk. I wouldnt use a Parcan because its only used to create depth and I wouldnt use a Flood because the colour can only be changed by changing the gel.

These are situated in Julies office.
