OSRAM, one of the leading light manufacturers in the world, offers intelligent lighting controls in the form of the

ENCELIUM Energy Management System (EMS). The ENCELIUM EMS was designed from the ground up as a

software-based, integrated lighting control and energy management system that dynamically responds to the

changing characteristics of a building by providing the right amount of light when and where required. This

first-of-its kind system allows for building owners and facility managers to provide comfortable lighting to

all occupants despite varying needs, while conserving lighting energy consumption and optimizing lighting

energy savings.

ENCELIUM® Energy Management System

ENCELIUM Polaris 3D® is the central control software application used to commission, configure, and manage the ENCELIUM EMS. It enables configuration of every system parameter in a building for each individual user or space and establishes the baseline settings. The ENCELIUM Polaris 3D software offers enhanced ability to analyze and update lighting layouts from an intuitive and easy-to-use computer inter-face. This brings lighting control to a whole new level, by giving facility managers the ability to easily control individual luminaires, groups of luminaires, entire floors, or even entire buildings right from their desktop or laptop.

The ENCELIUM Polaris 3D software has the ability to display and com-municate energy savings in a variety of formats for any specified period of time. Reports generated can focus on an entire building all the way down to an individual luminaire, show overall savings or be broken down by energy management strategy. This type of granular control can help identify lighting-related inefficiencies or operational anomalies anywhere in a facility.

Features & Benefits

— Intuitive, user-friendly software that shows an interactive, 360° 3D building view

— Generates real-time energy savings data in formats ranging from kWh to dollars

— Provides users with the ability to easily adjust lighting layouts without physical rewiring of your multi-facility campus

— Change set points and time schedules for multiple zones as desired right from your web browser

— Easy detection of lighting status, consumption and energy trends from colorized lighting system data representation

Smart control strategies

The ENCELIUM Energy Management System (EMS) is the only lighting control system that seamlessly employs these energy management strategies simultaneously.

— Smart time scheduling — Daylight harvesting — Task Tuning — Occupancy Control — Variable Load Shedding — Personal Control — Plug Load Control

The ENCELIUM EMS provides maximum energy savings when combining the above smart control strategies as well as other energy savings tech-niques. It can be integrated with other building management systems including HVAC, shade control and fire alarm systems for further controlla-bility. Further savings can be generated through controlling emergency lighting. This system is continually upgraded to integrate new features and strategies to maximize controllability now and into the future.

ENCELIUM GreenBus IIENCELIUM GreenBus II is a two-wire communica-tion platform for supplying data and power to the ENCELIUM Energy Management System. This next generation bus system dramatically raises the capability to deliver power to sensors and wall-stations while increasing the number of devices supported by a single ENCELIUM Energy Control Unit (ECU). ENCELIUM GreenBus II includes enhanced troubleshooting features such as the ability for the system to detect and locate field bus communication faults via the ENCELIUM Polaris 3D® software.

Features & Benefits

— Individual dimming control of thousands of luminaires — Integrates analog 0-10V dimming ballasts/drivers, standard non-dimming ballasts/drivers and DALI-based systems

— BACnet® compatible for easy integration with other building automation systems, such as HVAC, fire and security

— Integrates sensors and relay-based controls into a one flexible control system

— Installs quickly and easily

Innovative Communication NetworksENCELIUM® Energy Management Systems use the following networks: ENCELIUM GreenBus II®, Wireless

Mesh based on ZigBee® standards, or DALI (Digital Addressable Lighting Interface). These are cross plat-

form systems that are compatible with each other so that you are no longer locked into a single, proprietary

system. This not only offers flexibility but can scale to meet any need. These diverse options allow wired

and wireless networks to integrate into hybrid ecosystems.

ENCELIUM Wireless Network OSRAM is a member of the ZigBee Alliance. ENCELIUM's Wireless Energy Management System is based on open and interoperable ZigBee standards. This allows you to locate sensors and wallstations in hard-to-reach locations because no wiring is required. Each Wireless Manager can control up to 100 nodes allowing you the flexibility to provide cost effective controls to a variety of locations. The new wireless system includes enhancements to the ENCELIUM Polaris 3D® software that includes auto-backup to a Micro SD card, IP address recovering mechanism, and battery status view for wireless devices.

The ENCELIUM Energy Management System (EMS) communicates via a mesh

network based on ZigBee standards on the second floor and via an ENCELIUM

GreenBus II communication network on the first floor. The drawing shows a hybrid

system incorporating both wired and wireless components. Sensors, wallstations,

touchscreens and relays may all be incorporated into the ENCELIUM system.

Occupancy Sensors

— Occupancy sensor settings are configurable through the ENCELIUM Polaris 3D® software.

— Set time delay to the minimum on occupancy sensors connected to the ENCELIUM EMS. Time delays are set through the ENCELIUM Polaris 3D software. With the ENCELIUM EMS, occupancy sensors employ aggressive time-outs by using a two-stage occupancy sensing fea-ture. Luminaires in a zone are in “dim” status in response to lengths of time where no occupancy is detected and turn bright in response to occupancy detection.

— The ENCELIUM EMS also provides Personal Control Software which acts as a virtual occupancy sensing feature at individual work stations.

— Occupancy sensors should be placed out of the line-of-sight of doorways, office furniture and decoration.

Comfort Zones

— The ENCELIUM system allows for the creation of “comfort” or “support” zones in areas adjacent to occupied rooms to ensure that occupants are not isolated for both comfort and safety.

— Examples of “comfort zones” would be the areas immedi-ately outside of a private office, corridors leading to exits, and elevators.

— With the ENCELIUM Energy Management System, all of these comfort zones can be grouped with the same master zone. When lights in a master zone are ON, lights in a comfort zone remain ON at a reduced level. Comfort zones are created through the ENCELIUM Polaris 3D software.

Photo Sensors

— Utilizing networked photo sensors, the Energy Control Unit reduces artificial light levels when natural daylight is available and maintains a steady light level when subjected to fluctuating daylight conditions where 0-10V dimming ballasts and/or drivers exist. Areas with fixed output ballasts and/or drivers energize when natural daylight falls below the foot-candle levels specified.

— The ENCELIUM system utilizes light level inputs from common and/or remote sensor locations to minimize the number of photo sensors required. If the office is part of a multi-floor building, then the weighted value of photo sensor readings (the floors just above and just below the office location) is considered to control lighting in order to economize the sensor usage.

— Light level sensor parameters are configurable through the ENCELIUM Polaris 3D software. Photo sensors should be placed in areas where their line-of-sight is not blocked by furniture or decoration.

With the ENCELIUM EMS, a comfort zone supports one or more

master zones. Luminaires are grouped into zones as appropriate

and customized to optimize energy savings.

Sensor Integration & Comfort ZonesThe ENCELIUM® EMS uses occupancy/vacancy sensors, photo sensors, and comfort zones

to integrate entire floors and achieve a massive reduction in lighting energy consumption.
