Infusing modern fashion trends with traditional South Pacific Island flavor

LIFT was born from Polynesian origin, with its roots and beginning operations taking place inthe Samoan islands of the South Pacific. LIFT specializes in custom made fashion that is afusion of modern trends and traditional South Pacific Island culture. Clothing is both designedand constructed by LIFT on site at the store front in Carson, CA. One unique trait about ourdesigns is that we like to incorporate the natural materials of the islands such as tapa cloth(made from mulberry tree bark), dried woven tea leaves and braided coconut husk. Theintricate and geometric aesthetic of our traditional Polynesian patterns also bring a sense ofuniqueness and natural beauty to the designs.

In an effort to give back to the community and encourage a culture of academia amongst young PacificIslanders, LIFT established the LIFT Scholarship. We award three Pacific Islander college students

financial aidto assist with tuition, books, living expenses, etc. The LIFT Scholarship Fashion Show is an event we

created sothat we could not only present our current year’s recipients with their award, but so that we could alsofundraise for the recipients in the following year. As of right now, the Scholarship and event are on a bi-annual basis, but we are hoping to make this an annual occurrence.

Mission:To spread the beauty of the South Pacific culture through FASHION! while encouraging the

young Pacific Islander community to thrive in their educational pursuit , with the goal of making a considerable contribution towards the improvement of society as a whole.

LIFT has designed wardrobe for the Polynesian Exchange spread, featured by The Curvy Fashionista and Daily Venus Diva.

Also designed a skirt for the cover of Soul and Salsa Magazine.Custom made clothing pieces for Polynesian musicians such as Fiji, Siaosi, and KiwiniOfficial designer and tailor for professional Polynesian dance group, Tupulaga

TRADITIONALSome of the pieces in the show will be the traditional two piece garb worn by the Pacific Islander community. Usually made with a linen fabric and detailed with tapa or Polynesian print fabric.

MODERN TRENDSome pieces will be more main stream evening wear American. Such as this cocktail dress made with a metallic polka dot polyester with a fun and flirty green feather underskirt

FUSIONSome pieces will be a blend of modern American fashion and traditional Pacific Island wear. Such as this formal evening dress with a trendy hemline and open back, but still has a thin strip of tapa around the hips to incorporate the South Pacific influence.
