Vaughn showed up for his regularly scheduled Saturday afternoon Bible Study class, Nov. 10, at Sharon Baptist Church in Baltimore, he was pleasantly surprised. In addition to the usual gathering, family members, friends and clergy from around the area showed up to honor his 55 years in ministry. The crowd included folks from his former ministries, from Promised Land Baptist Church, Moneta, Va. and Grace Memorial Baptist Church in Baltimore. The former president of the Hampton Ministers’ Conference, the largest interdenominational gathering of preachers in the country, he’s the current chair of the board and co- founder of the Determined Biblical and Theological Institute at New Shiloh Baptist Church. On Nov. 13, the Baltimore Area Council, Boy Scouts of America hosted the Whitney Young Jr. Service Award banquet at the Radisson at Cross Keys. The event honored Dr. Samuel Ross, CEO of Bon Secours Baltimore Health System and Marty Azola, president of Azola & Associates. The honorees were feted in recognition of their contributions towards providing scouting opportunities for youth from various backgrounds. Photos by J.D. pleasantly surprised. In addition to the usual gathering, family members, friends and clergy

The Ministry in Motion presented a luncheon fashion show and vendor marketplace Oct. 27 in Greenbelt, Md. The afternoon production at Martin’s Crosswinds was orchestrated by the Encore Hair Boutique’s Kenia Garner and featured a hair and fashion show conducted by Valencia Dashiell and was capped by a dance by Ministry in Motion.

So Others May Eat (SOME) was singled out for a community service award at Chi Eta Phi’s 46th annual fashion show and luncheon Oct. 28 in Greenbelt, Md. The fundraising event was hosted by the maiden chapter of the 80-year-

old organization of registered

professional nurses and nursing students at Martin’s Crosswinds that was founded at Freedmen’s Hospital in 1932. The group’s motto is “service to humanity.” The fashion show was presented by the Lovely Lady Boutique.
